Chapter fifty three: Confrontation
After ensuring Ron was getting healthy, the dragons decided to bring Cale home for him to rest there. The butler and his son made a decision to follow the redhead there. Choi Han, Rosalyn and Lark also went to the Henituse Estate to check up on the wolfboy's siblings. The black-haired hero wanted to speak with Cale, after all he had a lot of questions he wanted to ask him.
Three days passed and Cale finally recovered. He was dining inside his room with the dragon and cat siblings. Ron and Vicross were also reinstated in the Henituse Estate. Afternoon came, the children were playing in the garden when Ron, Vicross, Choi Han, Rosalyn and Lark entered his room.
"It's good seeing you healthy, Ron," Cale smiled.
"It's thanks to the Young Master," Ron smiled benignly. "We are also glad you are awake now, Young Master."
"Thank you, by the way, what are you doing here?" Cale asked the heroes. He didn't understand why they were here in his room. He glanced at Choi Han who was staring at him intently.
Ugh, it seems he has plenty of questions. His gaze hurts, Cale thought as he averted his eyes.
"As for Ron and Vicross, they wanted to work for you again, Young Master Cale. As for Lark, he wanted to see his siblings and as for me, I just wanted to see my old friend," Rosalyn answered. Cale glanced at Choi Han again and Rosalyn just shrugged her shoulders.
"I am happy you're all doing well, noona. And this is the first time you've seen me, right?" Cale said as he turned to Lark, who was nervously fidgeting.
Hmm? This isn't how I remember Lark, he was more cold before unlike now. The Lark in front of me is a child, Cale thought as he examined the young wolf.
"M-My name is Lark, Young Master. I-I would like to thank you for taking in my siblings," Lark slightly stuttered. Cale chuckled as he reminisced about something from the past. The others looked at him with a confused expression.
I didn't know Lark was such a shy boy, Cale thought as he looked at the young pup fondly. It's good, he's a child after all.
"Pardon my rudeness, I just remember something from the past," Cale said. "As you already know, I am Cale Henituse. You don't have to be formal around me."
Lark smiled shyly.
"You. When did you wake up?" Choi Han asked, his voice sounded cold which was something Cale reminded of the same Choi Han he knew in their first timeline.
"I woke up just days before the Plaza Terror Incident," Cale answered softly.
"Why didn't you tell us you woke up?" Rosalyn asked. Cale just smiled bashfully.
"I see, I heard from your servants you went to the Plaza as soon as you woke up," Choi Han inquired. Cale looked at him. Ron frowned from the tone of his voice. "Did you know what would happen that time?"
Really? You're asking me that, Cale sighed. Ron and the others shot their eyes on him.
"Yes, I already mentioned this to my father. I received a vision of the future so I knew more or less what would happen in the Plaza," Cale answered. The others gasp from what they heard. "The vision's not omnipotent. The other parts were blurry so I do not remember everything."
That was a lie. But the others just nodded in understanding. They still thought it was amazing.
"Then, do you know of the Harris Village's future?" Choi Han asked.
"Yes, the villagers of Harris Village were destined to die that day," Cale answered.
However, Choi Han had heard him differently due to the voice inside his mind.
The villagers of Harris Village deserved to die? Choi Han thought. He could feel the rage going up to his throat.
Cale and his companions were still talking yet Choi Han didn't hear any of it. He was angry.
He was still the same, Choi Han thought angrily.
Then he pulled Cale's collar and slammed him on the backrest of the redhead's chair. Cale winced from how painful it was. This action made Ron and Vicross warn him by pointing their weapons at his neck.
"How dare you?!" Choi Han said. Cale could feel his rage. He was the same. This was the Choi Han from their first timeline. This was Choi Han who was deep in despair.
"You punk, let the Young Master go," Ron warned, but Choi Han didn't have any intention of letting him go.
"Ron, it's alright. I understand his rage. Will you leave the two of us here?" Cale turned to them.
"But Young Maste—"
"It's alright. Choi Han is incapable of killing me so I am alright," Cale confidently said. Ron and Vicross gritted their teeth and decided to obey the Young Master.
Ron and the others went out, leaving Choi Han and Cale. Lark stole a glance towards the two with a worried face and Cale just reassured him with a smile.
As soon as they went out, Cale placed his hand on the arm that's choking him.
"Choi Han, calm down," Cale said. The black-haired hero clicked his tongue and let him go, Cale coughed.
"I know you are confused with everything," Cale added as he fixed himself. "I knew you recovered the memories I locked and now you're asking which is true or not."
"Everything from my memory is real. The massacre of Harris Village, the attack on the Blue Wolf Tribe, the Plaza Terror Incident," Choi Han said.
"What is fated to be will definitely happen, just like what happened in the Harris Village and Blue Wolf Tribe," Cale commented.
"What sin do they have for you to say that? What was the reason for their death?!"
Cale could feel Choi Han's rage and despair of experiencing the same again. He remained silent, he didn't know. All he knew was they were destined to die, like his beloved mother.
"And you! You already know their futures, why didn't you inform me? I would have believed everything you said before I recovered my memories!" Choi Han's tears began to fall. "Do I have to witness the death of my friends for the second time?"
Choi Han slumped on the chair across from Cale as he cried of helplessness. The redhead knew that feeling well. After all, he watched all of their deaths countless times during his travels back to the past. He experienced losing his mother again this time, he failed to protect her again this time. He experienced losing his precious people. He understood why Choi Han was blaming him. He understood why he didn't want to experience the same despair again.
"Are you blaming me, Choi Han?" Cale asked, his head remained hanging low.
Choi Han knew nothing of this was Cale's fault. He knew Cale was still asleep when the attack of Harris Village occured. Choi Han remained silent.
"Choi Han, I also lost someone precious for the second time. Even though I knew the future, I wasn't omnipotent. I couldn't protect the single person I love," Cale continued. "I know you recovered your memories the night before the attack, given by how fast you are, I am sure you arrived at the Harris Village on time. Then, why didn't you save anyone?"
Choi Han couldn't answer. He didn't understand that peculiar restriction he had that time.
"That's right. Someone or something must've prevented you. We are not allowed to interfere with their fates, regarding the Blue Wolf Tribe, nature has allowed the children to live," Cale explained. "It was the same with Ron, I was wrapped with hot chains all around my body. But I overcame it, nature allowed him to live."
"Then what's the point of these memories if I cannot protect what I lost before?" Choi Han asked.
"To prevent the same history from repeating itself. Choi Han, didn't you notice some changes?"
Then Choi Han recalled the black dragon who was supposed to berserk and be killed by him. The Wolf Children he saved, the people in the Plaza didn't get harmed, Ron didn't die. He immediately looked at Cale as the latter smiled at him.
"That's right, Choi Han. You are capable of changing things. There are differences from our time," Cale continued as he stood in front of Choi Han.
"We may have lost the people we hold dear, but your friends are still alive. Rosalyn, Lark, the wolf children, Ron and Vicross, they are still alive," Cale said as he gently caressed Choi Han's head which startled the latter.
"Didn't I promise you Choi Han? I told you I will let you live well and happily this time, right?" Cale beamed which made Choi Han's heart race.
There, Choi Han remembered something. Something in his memory that was locked. It was his memory during his slumber when Cale made him sleep.
Choi Han, live well and happily this time ... I will be the first one to find you, Cale in his memories said as the redhead vanished from his sight.
Cale definitely found him first. He treated him with kindness and told him he was his friend. Cale smiled kindly and extended his hand when he needed it. He helped and guided him out of the Forest of Darkness which lessened his sufferings. Cale has been by his side ever since.
Choi Han could feel the heat going up to his face as he flicked the redhead's hand, standing up and ran away.
"I guess, he's still mad," Cale sighed as went to his balcony. I'll just let him cool off.
Youna and the others burst the door open and inquire what happened. Cale just told them that there was a bit of misunderstanding and Choi Han needed time to process everything.
"I'd definitely beat him up next time," Youna said with a clenched fist and full determination. Cale laughed.
"Go easy on him, things aren't easy for him lately," Cale responded.
The Young Master is truly kind but I am not, Ron and Vicross thought.
That night, Cale slept peacefully for a long while. The three children went to Eruhaben's lair since they were curious what the golden dragon lair looked like. The heroes also resigned and stayed inside the Henituse Mansion before they traveled once again.
An uninvited guest suddenly appeared inside Cale's room. He sat beside Cale and caressed his red locks. Cale opened his eyes after feeling someone was touching him. Half-asleep, Cale gently held the hand of the person who was playing with his hair.
The moonlight shone on the guest's face and Cale smiled fondly.
"Papa, you're in my dream as well today," Cale said as he nuzzled his face onto the palm of the other person.
Cale shifted to his side and his other hand held his papa's hand.
"I missed you. I missed you so much," Cale muttered, longingness was hinted at in his voice, which made the other person feel warmth on his chest.
"Oh, Cale. We just saw one another recently," the other person said as he gently caressed Cale's head using his other hand.
"I have a lot of questions with you so I'm going to borrow you for a while," he said as he carefully carried Cale in his arms.
"Sleep well, my child," he said as he lovingly placed a kiss on Cale's forehead.
Before this scene unfolds, the spearman reported what happened to the higher ups.
"How did that happen?! It took a lot of time, effort and money building that base!" One of them asked.
"The forces of that redhead in the Rowoon Kingdom were truly terrifying! He has a lot of powerful mages, and those mages were the ones who destroyed the island," the spearman answered.
"'Redhead in the Rowoon Kingdom'?" White Star asked. The spearman bowed.
"Yes, I was able to determine his appearance when he appeared. He was watching the whole battle and we heard him shout," he answered. "So we attacked the direction where he was hiding and he fell from the sky."
"What is he doing there?" White Star asked in a mumbling matter.
Is he really my enemy? But he fell from the sky ... he truly is an angel, the White Star thought.
"I'll investigate this matter myself," the White Star stood ignoring all the comments of his underlings.
If Cale Henituse was truly his enemy, he should give him a visit.
It was the middle of the night when he arrived at the Henituse Mansion, he looked for Cale inside each room he snuck a peek. Then he found Cale sleeping peacefully. Luckily, the balcony door was left unlocked so he easily managed to enter.
Tsk, tsk. This troublesome child will definitely get kidnapped at this rate, the White Star shook his head.
The White Star walked towards Cale's bed and he sat beside him. This person was truly beautiful, though he looked so young. Cale should be eighteen this year but he was short, around 159 centimeters. His hair was short compared to the last time he saw him.
He carefully caressed Cale's hair so the latter wouldn't wake up. He still couldn't imagine this person being his enemy. If he could, he could kill him right here and then. But he dared not to, he couldn't do it.
"I don't know what's this force that compels me to you," the White Star spoke softly as he traced Cale's facial features.
"Is it because you didn't die even though I am showing this much affection?"
"Or is it because you are such a lovable person?"
His questions remained unanswered as he snorted off a laugh. Then, Cale fluttered his eyes open, locking his eyes with the White Star. The redhead smiled at him fondly and longingly as he touched his hand that was caressing his hair.
"Papa ...," Cale muttered.
He called me his papa again, White Star thought as Cale nuzzled his face onto his hand. This was making his heart clenched.
"I missed you. I missed you so much," Cale said longingly.
Every single strand of his reasons that kept together his desire of taking him with him snapped. He decided to take him back to his place, lock him up and keep him safe from what was about to happen.
"I have a lot of questions with you so I'm going to borrow you for a while," he said as he carefully carried Cale in his arms.
"Sleep well, my child," he said as he lovingly placed a kiss on Cale's forehead.
White Star with Cale in his arms teleported back to the base. If Cale Henituse is one of his enemies, he'll just make sure Cale wouldn't get away from his grip.
//TBC ...
