Chapter forty nine: Body of earth

Night time came and the celebration started. The warriors were loud and started singing their victory song. It was a lively celebration befitting of these warriors. Cale laughed and sang alongside them.

The moment everyone fell asleep, Cale and the children snuck out as they remained invisible so no one would notice them. Youna was in-charge of looking out for anyone suspicious or if someone noticed they disappeared.

They entered the tower, it was creepy since it was night time. The warriors haven't cleaned the tower and it still reeked of blood and rotting flesh. He made the children wear a cloth to cover their noses as it would be unhealthy to keep inhaling such scents.

"Let's meet your new friend first," Cale said and Raon happily led him up to the secret wall along the Magic Tower staircase.

"Just follow us, Cale-nyaa!" Hong said as he wagged his tail and led the way along with his sister. Then the kittens and the black dragon led Cale inside the staircase going to the underground levels.

"He is on the first underground level, he is really good at hiding. Haha but no one is as good as us at hunting!" Ohn proudly said as she elegantly walked.

"I see, I see. I really have such reliable children!" Cale giggled. This made the three leap in joy after hearing him say they were his children.

As they walked, Cale suddenly leaned on the wall when they all heard a creaking sound. An odd noise was made as the wall started to open. The three children perked up and they showed their proud hunting face, while Cale just watched.

A small figure could be seen inside. Cale fixed himself so he could appear friendly to the person inside. Contrary to his expectations, the person inside was trembling in fear. Cale made an inexplicable expression as he didn't know how he should approach the smaller being.

"Um, hi?" it came out as a question.

Hiccup.

All of them heard a hiccup coming from the smaller person. Cale was at a loss of what to do. The other person was clearly scared of them. The redhead then crouched down to lower his height and spoke to the smaller one again.

"Hi, I am Cale and I will not hurt you."

The smaller person shook intensely while having a pale face, it's making Cale awkward with the situation. The redhead thought of a way to ease the other person's nervousness, no, fear.

Hmm, can I make my body smaller or child-like? That way maybe he'd ease out? Cale thought as his body suddenly glowed and shrunk. The three children with him stared in awe.

"Kyaaa! Cale-nyaaa/Human~!" the three children squealed.

Cale became smaller in size, the same body size he had when he was five. The three children circled around him. The other person stared in awe, that wasn't magic or anything. Nobody could alter someone's body unless they had divine power; that was a fact.

The smaller person somehow relaxed seeing that a blessed person like him wouldn't have any reason to hurt him.

"Calm down, Ohn, Hong, Raon," Cale said as the three children began nudging their heads on his small body.

It took them a whole five minutes to calm down. The smaller person was no longer afraid of seeing their interaction.

"Um, hello. I am Cale, may I know who you are?" Cale asked as he smiled.

"I am Mueller, your Excellency," Mueller, the smaller person, responded. Cale frowned from the sudden formality in addressing him.

"You can just address me casually, you don't have to call me that," Cale said.

"Then would Young Master Cale suffice?" Mueller asked and Cale nodded. Then they heard a growling sound, it came from the stomach of Mueller.

Cale took something out from his spatial bag, it was a raspberry pie. He gave it to the smaller person, Mueller thanked him and he began eating.

While he was eating, Cale learned that Mueller was a half dwarf and a half rat. That explained why Mueller looked like dwarves in the fairy tales he read before. Since Cale showed his prowess, Mueller relaxed and he was no longer afraid of them.

Cale stood and looked around the room. He could see a lot of blueprints scattered around the place. He could also see a map of the Magic Tower, it showed places that weren't visible to everyone. Cale concluded that only him and the magic tower liege would know.

Hm, he seems useful. Just in time we need a person who would build me a ship, Cale thought as he turned to the eating Mueller.

"Do you want to live? Once the warriors see you here, they will definitely kill you, seeing as how you aided the mages into making this magic tower they loathed," Cale said. This made Mueller stop eating. Mueller nodded intensely.

"Alright, we'll take you with us," Cale said as he reverted back to his original size. It'll be troublesome if some of his companions would see him in that size.

After Mueller had his fill, Cale picked up the smaller being and he hid him inside his jacket's pocket.

"Ohn, Hong, would you show us the way to the treasure room?" Cale asked.

"Alright! Follow us!" the two kittens said in unison.

"No!" Mueller exclaimed which startled everyone present.

"Do you know where that room is? Can you show us?" Cale asked him.

"No, that place is filled with traps. The barbarians will be notified if they go off!" Mueller answered.

Hmp, what a puny reason. Of course, I already deactivated everything! My human must never be harmed! Raon said inside Cale's head which made the redhead laugh.

"Don't worry, I have a reliable friend who would protect me," Cale smiled.

They all went down to the fourth basement, the magic stone issue was resolved by the invisible black dragon since he had a lot of toys. Cale got surprised as he learned something he believed he shouldn't have. There were two researches here:

A mana storage device that used the principles of ancient power.

The reason for developing magic resistance.

"What's this? A study?" Cale mumbled.

Human, I find this interesting since Goldie and Mossy Gramps always study. I want to take every single thing in here, Raon spoke inside his head.

"I will be taking every single interesting thing here in this room, then we should proceed to the treasure room you guys spoke about," Cale said as the objects, research papers, instruments began to disappear one by one.

After wiping out the floor, they proceeded to the unnumbered floor. Mueller called it the 0th floor. Cale trusted his children since they already entered it. What welcomed him was the fruit of the magic tower liege's greediness.

Gold. Jewels. Magic devices. Money filled the whole room.

This is like Goldie Gramps' lair, but his lair is even more extravagant and filled with gold, Raon spoke.

I know. I love Grandpa Eruhaben's lair, Cale seconded in his head.

These items were not cheap, it was the same as the one he had stored inside his countless spatial bags. Cale carefully examined the items inside the room. Mueller kept quiet. Cale began to smile ear to ear.

"I guess, finders keepers?" Cale said in his happiest tone. Ohn and Hong jumped up and down as they knew the value of what was inside this room.

Mueller had an unsettling feeling but seeing the redhead's innocent smile made all his uneasiness go away. As long as he would do what the redhead was asking him to do, he would definitely survive.

Cale and the others came back without anyone knowing they snuck out. The redhead slept peacefully knowing his financial source increased once again. Man, it was really great to be rich.

The next day, Harol, Philia and Cale met up. The chief handed Cale their contract regarding the Magic Tower, although he purchased it he would still be destroying it. They could always recreate another Magic Tower as long as they could find a good person to manage the tower. He already has someone in mind, anyway.

After their talks, Toonka pestered Cale to have a match with him but the bigger man kept getting rejected. Harol asked Cale what was the benefit of buying a destroyed magic tower, knowing nothing was usable inside. Cale answered that he just wanted to own a Magic Tower. It was his dream when he was a child.

Once everything was settled, the ownership of the Magic Tower was now Cale Henituse, they all went back home.

After arriving in the Henituse Estate, the children went to Eruhaben. Cale went to report to his father about what he did. Cale also gave his father a spatial bag filled with magic stones of highest quality as a gift. Cale also introduced Mueller to him and informed his father that they needed to strengthen their walls. The half rat, half dwarf was also tasked to create a blueprint of a ship, bearing the Henituse' symbol. Mueller was given a room where he could work inside the Henituse manor.

Deruth dismissed him after having a small talk. Cale entered his greenhouse and sat on the small canopy bed on the side. Hans brought Cale his snacks and refreshments.

Cale read the books he had in store inside his greenhouse. After reaching the middle of the book he's reading, he fell asleep.

Cale had an unsettling feeling. After waking up from the three year coma, somehow he could feel the world around him clearly compared to before. He didn't know how he managed not noticing it but when he was idle, he could feel the trees, the grass, the rivers, the seas, the world itself.

Cale, he could hear Gaia's voice. I am sorry, I thought I still had time. Forgive me.

Cale didn't understand why Gaia was apologizing to him. All he knew was that he could feel the movements of people, he could hear and feel everything. As if he became the earth himself.

Cale jolted awake which made the children, who were waiting for him to wake up, surprised.

"Are you alright, Cale-nyaa? You look pale," Ohn asked.

"Are you sick, Human? Who made you sick?!" Raon asked as he put his paws on Cale's face.

"I am fine, I just had a weird dream," Cale laughed as he held Raon's paws then gently patted Ohn and Hong's head.

"You made us worry, we thought you're sick again!" Hong responded.

"I'm sorry for worrying you but I am alright," Cale said.

Then, they all went inside the manor since it was dinner time when Cale woke up. The dinner with his family was truly uneventful and he spent the remaining time of the night listening to the three children's stories.

Three weeks went by smoothly, Cale accomplished most of his tasks. Freesia and her subordinates confirmed that a war would break out sooner or later. The Indomitable Alliance was formed, the same kingdom was involved. He needed to tell his father about it as they were located at the border. The Henituse Territory would be the first one they will attack, like what happened during his first timeline.

Youna took a break and went back to the Wind Island as he said he was approaching his Second Growth Phase. The golden dragon told Cale that Youna would be transitioning to his adult form. He would be needing sleep as his body transforms. That's why, the ancient dragons and the black dragon were the ones sticking close to the redhead.

Cale went downstairs to eat his lunch with his family, everything was going well. His father took his advice of strengthening their walls since they were quite vulnerable againsts monsters in the Forest of Darkness. Mueller also was making progress in making the blueprints Cale had asked him.

Cale sat down and began eating the lunch prepared for them. It was truly uneventful, supposedly.

"The food prepared today is better than usual," Cale praised as he drank a glass of wine.

"The chefs had to increase their abilities since you love to eat," Deruth responded.

Cale was about to reply to his father when he stopped. His body suddenly felt hot, his eyes began to blur. Deruth and Violan were asking him but he couldn't understand any of their words. Then, he coughed.

"Cale/Hyung/Orabeoni!" They all screamed as they stood on their seats and went to his side. They could see blood dripping from his mouth and nose.

Hans immediately ran to get the physician and Raon instantly informed the ancient dragons of what happened. The masters and servants of the Henituse Estate began panicking.

The redhead felt something warm from his palms and he saw a lot of blood. His body temperature kept rising and he didn't understand why. Deruth leaned Cale on his body.

"Cale, can you hear me?" Deruth asked. His arms were trembling as so much blood was coming out of his son's mouth and nose.

"It hurts," Cale muttered enough to be heard by everyone around him. Even speaking burns his throat.

What's happening to me? Cale thought as he curled his body in an attempt to lessen the pain. He tightly clutched on his father's clothing as he couldn't endure so much heat raging inside his body.

Deruth carried his son as he brought him to the nearest resting room. Lily was shaking so hard so Ohn and Hong stayed by her side to calm her, even though they, too, were panicking.

Violan and Basen immediately interrogated the people who prepared their meals, they all swore they didn't dare poison the first Young Master. The physician arrived and he immediately examined Cale.

"That's weird, he isn't poisoned or anything," the physician told them.

The kitchen staff sighed a breath of relief. They do not have that kind of courage in poisoning the young master. Even if they got offered a bunch of money, they couldn't do it as they value their life. Dragons would be after their heads if they do that.

"It burns," Cale said as he faced his side, continuously coughing up blood.

Cale felt his body was burning—literally burning. It was spreading all over his body, the fire kept burning and spreading.

"Ugh ... What is this?" Cale cried as he tried to keep his scream.

It hurts, it hurts. It burns! Cale screamed inside his head as he coughed another batch of blood.

The people around him were panicking yet he couldn't hear a thing. He tried to stand to go to his bathroom in an attempt to extinguish the heat he's feeling. But he fell and his father caught him.

"It's hot ... please, let ... me go," Cale begged. He wanted nothing more than to eliminate the heat.

"Hans, prepare some cold water for my son," Deruth ordered and they all moved.

Raon casted a cooling magic for Cale and they could see he was starting to relax. Eruhaben and Olienne were also doing so, now Cale's room was as cold as a freezer.

It's still burning, Cale whimpered.

"Youna," Cale called as he cried from the burning sensation.

"Human! Hyung's not here but I am here! The great and mighty Raon is here, what do you need?" The black dragon flew around the redhead.

"Raon?" The redhead whispered. There, they could hear Eruhaben clicking his tongue.

"Please ... look for what is burning," Cale softly said as he breathed heavily, he raised his hand in an attempt to hold onto someone or something. His father immediately held unto it as Cale lost his consciousness.

Cale's breathing was deep and hard, he was also sweating and his blood kept dripping out of his mouth and nose. Deruth was the one who was cleaning out the blood from his son's face. Raon was keeping the coldness of the room to ease the redhead. Hans was currently babysitting the two kittens who were crying on his arms. The rest of his family were waiting outside.

Eruhaben and Olienne flew around the Western Continent while staying invisible looking for what was burning. They looked for every nook and cranny yet they didn't find any single burn.

It was the middle of the night when Cale awoke from his sleep. His body felt like it was still burning, he stood and walked towards the window. He found the source of his burns. It was painful.

"Human! Where are you going?" Raon asked which made the kittens wake up. However, Cale wasn't listening. The redhead focused on going to the source.

"The Jungle ... it's burning," Cale muttered which didn't go unheard to the three children.

They could see Cale was about to use his gift. Youna told them before that Cale could do anything with his gift. The three children immediately latched on his body. Then they all disappeared as the redhead teleported them inside a foggy jungle.

The three children observed the area, it was too foggy but Ohn and Hong weren't afraid. They immediately transformed into their human forms to help the weakened Cale.

"Don't worry, Cale-nyaa! Fog is my specialty, just tell me where we are heading," Ohn said. Cale looked like he was in a daze as he nodded to the child.

Raon immediately told the ancient dragons where they were so they could come to them. Ohn was doing a great job traversing the foggy jungle. Cale pointed on the direction where they were going as he breathed hard.

Cale was having difficulty breathing as the heat occupied his heart. He coughed as blood dripped from his mouth. Raon took out a handkerchief and wiped the blood on the redhead's face. Hong was looking out for any dangers.

After a good thirty minutes of walking inside the jungle, Raon alerted them that there were people coming their way. A lady riding a beast stopped their tracks. They pointed their weapons to them as the children stepped in front of Cale. The redhead couldn't see what was going on as he was too focused on finding the fire.

"Who are you? What are you doing here? This place is not for people like you," the lady spoke. The three children looked at one another, trying to communicate what to do.

"Fire ..." Cale muttered, everyone in the vicinity heard him. This made the lady attentive to Cale.

Does he know about the fire in the Jungle? Is he an enemy, the lady thought.

"The fire is burning my body ... it's painful and hot. I have to ... put it out," Cale softly said. He no longer have any strength to speak.

The lady and her companions looked at them in doubt. The redhead was speaking nonsense.

Cale started walking again despite the lady's people pricked his skin with their weapons. His eyes were clouded as if smoke filtered his vision yet he continued walking. The children followed him.

"No! Don't hurt him, he is just looking for something burning," Hong told the people.

"Who are you people?" The lady asked them as they followed the redhead.

Then, they finally found the fire. A fire pillar was burning a whole section of the jungle. Ohn, Hong and Raon got a little overwhelmed with how big the fire was. But Cale continued walking towards the fire.

"No! Human! Don't go there!" Raon screamed as they tried to reach Cale but the lady and her people retrained them as they called for him.

Cale didn't listen. He needed to put out the fire that was hurting him. He walked inside the fire, it didn't burn his skin.

"Oh, Jungle of the West, hear my prayer," Cale spoke softly. Nobody could hear him.

Cale felt something moving inside his spatial bag, it was trying to come out. So he pull out the bottle where the special water he found from the cave was stored.

An ancient power? Cale thought.

Then, a melody echoed inside the Jungle. Even the people outside the fire could hear it. Cale began to sing:

A song that awakens and calls

Drown out the sound of a budding wish

The people of the Jungle heard the melody and the song. The trees swayed as if it answered the person singing. Raon, Ohn and Hong heard their human clearly. They breathed a sigh of relief knowing he was unharmed.

People keep making mistakes

Into the sky, from which the light disappeared

I wish to shine                                                                               I wish to shine

love (despair)

Raon, Ohn and Hong heard them loud and clear. Both Cale and the Jungle was singing. The feelings of the Jungle were being brought out by the song.

Despair.

That must be what the Jungle was feeling as it was burned down not knowing when and how the fire would be extinguished.

On a journey of no end

The light that is gone

Will shine no more

The three children were smart and empathetic, they must have felt what the Jungle felt. It felt despair. It gave up. That's why it said there will be no more light. However, their human was there. He would bring them light again!

The meaning of this life

It shines no more

Will be swallowed by darkness

Meanwhile, Cale let out the special water and formed orbs out of it. He used the Sound of the Wind to lift the water orbs as he spread them out.

If everything is an illusion

The world is a ship

If everything is destiny

The waves sweep it away

The melody dropped as Cale began to bring down the special water orbs into the fire. Gradually, the fire was getting extinguished. The people of the Jungle could now see the red-haired person putting out the fire. Then, a gentle rainfall washed away the fire in an instant. Raon, Ohn and Hong was in awe, the same with the people of the Jungle. After all, the fire was not a simple fire. It cannot be extinguished by normal water.

"Who is he?" The lady asked, then the melody began to play once again.

The land where the flowers bloom

For the ship that is the world

Surely will come again

My voice shall echo

The burned section began to restore. Trees and grass grew from the burned soil. The big and tall trees began to sway with the song. The animals that died began to appear again. The gentle grass pricked their skin as Cale continued his song with the Jungle.

The lady and his people were beyond shock. Not only the red-haired person extinguish the fire but he restored it too.

The children were no better, this was the first time they've seen something like this. This was what Youna was bragging to them about. This was how the Wind Island was also restored!

Far and wide

So that we can forgive each other

So that we can forgive

The Jungle will give people a chance. That was what transcribed from their exchange of melodies. The Jungle will continue to care for the people. Cale gave it a reason to.

Now the flowers bloom and the birds sing

People will continue

The lady and her people began to cry in joy. They didn't expect that someone like the redhead would come their aid. Due to the fire, they lost their home and they had to leave the section. They lost some of their people and their animals in hopes they could extinguish it.

They thought they would never see this beautiful section of the Jungle.

What was his name again? The children called him 'Cale', the lady thought as he stared at the redhead.

To sing together again

As soon as the song finished, Cale could no longer feel the burning sensation. His temperature became normal once again but he was beyond exhausted. He was about to fall to the ground when the lady caught him. She immediately wrapped him with her extra cloak to cover his body since his clothing was burned by the fire. The children cried as they ran towards their beloved human.

"That was divine!" Eruhaben said, his eyes widened upon seeing the spectacle that was Cale Henituse.

That was the first time he had seen it. This was the scene Olienne described to him when Cale restored the Wind Island.

The two ancient dragons went beside the three children and Cale. Eruhaben carried Cale in his arms.

"You can lay him down inside my home," the lady offered.

"No need. His family would be looking for him if he stayed here for a long time," Olienne rejected as he picked up the two cat children.

"J-Just tell me what his name is!" The lady asked.

"His name is ... Cale Henituse," the dragons and cat children said in unison as they teleported back to the Henituse Estate.

//TBC ...

Note: The song used here is titled: Song of Beginning.
Cale is the one singing with the lyrics on the left and the Jungle with the lyrics on the right. Cale and Jungle both sung the lyrics in the middle.
