Chapter nineteen: Busted

After collecting all the ancient powers he needed and the thing with the dragons, Cale stayed in the County for a while. He really did his best to rest and relax until he fully recovers. He was also punished by Ron who gave him sour or bitter teas, which he loathes.

Cale couldn't tell his powers to Ron, except for the fact that he could teleport. He was afraid that if he told Ron about him, the old butler would still leave him and follow the hero. He couldn't blame them as the hero's enemies were their longtime enemies as well. Even though Cale and the heroes both share the same enemies, his plan was to support them only and not to fight in the frontlines. He just wanted his power to be revealed to his own people.

Cale was also the one tending to the black egg. He could feel that Eruhaben had passed the responsibility to him. He diligently cleaned the egg and sometimes talked or told stories to the little one. Even though dragons were still inside their eggs, Cale knew they could perceive or could hear their surroundings. That's why he was having a one-sided conversation from time to time so the dragon will learn their language.

Cale was currently reading the new books that arrived in their County. Ever since Cale had wiped out the books (of course, by reading) in their library, the Count always purchased new books every week or month. Depending on how much book Cale had read during the time. Deruth was actually surprised by his son's ability to read and comprehend the materials even if it was difficult for his age. He also assesses his son by writing reflections and reviews of what Cale had learned from the books. And sometimes, he couldn't keep up with his son—no one could actually keep up with him.

Cale had caught on to a new adventure novel and was immersed in it. He was fascinated with how the story was written. After reading it, he stuffed the book in his spatial bag and went to his father's office. He knocked and entered the room. He was welcomed by his ever-busy-father-who's-always-buried-in-paperworks.

"Dad!" Cale called out. His father lifted his head and smiled.

"What is it, Cale dear?" Deruth asked, beckoning his son to come close which the latter did.

"Dad, I want to become an adventurer," Cale beamed. Deruth was taken aback to his son's words.

"You see, I've read this new novel and I was curious how it feels like to be an adventurer!" Cale excitedly continued.

He was cringing with his actions as he tried to act like a child. But it was now or never. If he cannot tell his father the real reason why he needed to go out, then he should just come up with excuses. Thus, being an adventurer was a great excuse for him.

"But that's dangerous, Cale," Deruth responded, which made the redhead dejected.

"But dad! I have Haben, Youna and Oli with me, I can also ask Ron and Vicross-hyung to accompany me!" Cale retaliated. Deruth pondered for a bit, having those individuals escort his son will ease his mind.

"I will create my own adventure team and the people I mentioned will be included!" Cale grinned while his right arm was raised and his left hand on his hips. Deruth patted Cale's head.

"Hm, if you become an adventurer, you will go out a lot and won't come back all the time," Deruth said as he rubbed his chin, looking sad.

"I will come back! Youna and Oli could use teleportation magic, and we could talk with the communication device, dad. Don't be sad," Cale replied as he held his father's hand. Deruth chuckled.

"I will come back after one week, dad," Cale used his charm to appeal to his father. It was super effective. Deruth lifted him and kissed his cheeks. Cale giggled as his father's beard tickled him.

"Alright, alright. What can I do if you show me that cute face of yours!" Deruth yielded. Cale smiled foolishly, and Deruth was a fool for his son.

Cale was dismissed and was told that his pocket money will be given to Hans. The redhead immediately went to his mother's office, he knocked first before entering.

"Greetings, mother," Cale politely bowed. His mother, Violan, was a strict woman. The last time he barged in, he was told off and had to redo his etiquette lessons.

"Cale, what brings you here?" Violan asked.

"I am here to inform mother that I'll be embarking on a journey," Cale said in his serious tone but his happiness couldn't be concealed.

"Journey? Are you going off somewhere? Have you told your father?" Violan asked once again.

"Yes! Dad has given me permission and I am here to inform you too since you are my mother," Cale answered. Violan smiled.

"I will come back in one week after I have fully experienced the life of an adventurer," Cale continued. Violan was flabbergasted, but she had to let it go.

Maybe he is at that phase where he is curious about everything. His knight and mages are strong, so we can rest assured, Violan thought.

"Alright. Here, take this. Enjoy to the fullest but don't get hurt. Haben and the others are strong but you still have to be careful," Violan reminded as she handed Cale a check. The redhead received allowance from both his father and mother.

"I will! I'll buy some souvenirs for you, mother, and for my siblings," Cale said. Violan caressed her son's head.

Cale went back to his room after informing the Count and the Countess of his outing. While going back, he also told Vicross and Ron that they'll come with him. Now, his clothes and other things were being packed by the servants and Cale was just packing things he couldn't let the others see. He also handed Haben, Youna, and Oli some sort of gem that could hide their majestic presence.

"Hyung!" Basen called out as he clinged to Cale after barging in his room.

"Yes, Basen?"

"Can I come with you? They said you'll go on an adventure!" Basen looked at him with teary eyes.

"Yes, I am. But you cannot go, you're still young," Cale said with sad eyes as he crouched down to match Basen's eye level.

"Hm ... Ah! You can come with me once you get a little older. I will bring you with Lily and our parents," Cale smiled. Basen's expression changed. His eyes sparkled from the thought.

"Right now, you have to focus on growing up fast so you can come with me next time," Cale added. Basen nodded and helped his brother pack up.

After five hours of packing up, Cale informed his companions that they will depart tomorrow morning since they finished packing late in the afternoon. Cale ate his dinner with his family and they kept reminding him not to cause trouble or not to get hurt. He was also told that even though he will pose as an adventurer, he still needs to mind his manners. Cale's eyes became soft as the thought of his family's kind and worried expression and words touched his heart.

Ah, I was too closed off before I failed to realize all of this, Cale thought.

"I will be careful, dad, mother," Cale smiled warmly.

That night, Cale immediately slept after receiving the pocket money from his father and mother. He was given twenty million gallons and the redhead believed that his pocket money was too much, but he shrugged it off and placed it in his spatial bag. He slept peacefully and couldn't wait for his adventure to start.

The next day, Cale woke up earlier and Ron helped him prepare. Seeing how his Young Master was excited, he couldn't help but feel delighted. Vicross and the others helped load his luggage to their carriage. Cale tilted his head when he saw their mode of transportation.

"Hmm? Do adventurers use a carriage when they move?" Cale asked towards the adults around him. Deruth cleared his throat.

"Of course they use a carriage especially if their destination is far," Deruth answered and the servants smiled at their redhead Young Master.

"Hmn, is that so?" Cale still pondered as what he read was the adventurers walking over their destinations. But of course, Cale doesn't want to walk so he settled with the decision of using a carriage.

It was eight in the morning and Cale's family were seeing him off.

"I'll be going now, dad, mother, Basen, Lily," Cale smiled.

"Travel safely, alright?" Deruth said. Violan and his siblings were smiling at him.

"I will! See you in a week!" Cale waved his hand and entered the carriage. He popped his head through the window and,

"Cale's adventure team will now depart!" The redhead said with a smile as he threw his fist into the air. Everyone waved their hands to their cute son/brother/Young Master.

After settling comfortably, they left the Estate.

The three dragons were sitting with Cale inside. Ron and Vicross were seated on the coach box, since Cale didn't want many people coming with him, he insisted on going with them only. Nothing more and nothing less. The three dragons were in-charge of guarding him, Ron will be the one tending to his needs and will serve as their coachman, and Vicross as their cook. This was not the usual set up for a normal adventurer, but Cale doesn't have any plans for having a normal journey.

"Alright! So what should be our first destination?" Cale asked as he brought out a world map.

"Don't tell me you plan on going far away?" Olienne asked, Cale raised his brow.

"Of course! It won't be called an adventure if I'll just go around the neighborhood," Cale answered.

"But first, let me visit that Uncle in the Capital and we'll pick up someone there," Cale added. The three dragons looked at him in confusion.

"Ron, let's go to the Capital. You don't have to take the reins, we will go there at fast speed," Cale grinned to his old butler. He instructed them to take the carriage in an inconspicuous place to avoid being seen.

"Olienne-nim, make this carriage and all of us invisible and Youna, can you make this whole carriage float?" Cale instructed. All of them were flabbergasted.

"What are you planning, Cale?" Youna asked.

"It is faster this way, it'll take us a lot of days just to go there. So we will make this carriage fly," Cale explained.

"This is new, I haven't heard of making a carriage fly," Eruhaben butted in.

"Of course, this is new. No one ever tried it and talented mages are too scarce in this kingdom," Cale responded, he went out and sat in the middle of Ron and Vicross.

"What are you doing here, Young Master?" Vicross asked.

"I want to see a better view once we make this thing fly," Cale said as his eyes sparkled from excitement.

Olienne started making all of them invisible along with their carriage and Youna started making it float. Then, Cale started using the [Sound of the Wind] to make their carriage move. He was using it in maximum power as his Omnipotence supported him to make the wind more powerful and safe.

"Cale, are you making it move?" Eruhaben asked as he took a peek through the small window.

"Yes, I am using my ancient power to make it move," Cale didn't realize what he had said. The father and son duo were shocked at the redhead's words.

"Ho, so Young Master has an ancient power, I wonder where he got that?" Ron smiled benignly as he made sure Cale was seated properly and wouldn't fly up. Cale turned his head towards Ron and shivered from the old man's smile. He didn't dare look at his chef.

Shit! Me and my damn mouth! Argh, Cale internally screamed.

After thirty minutes of flying, they arrived at the Capital. They landed just outside the gates of Capital as Cale planned to go there by teleporting inside the King's office. But before he could enter the gates, he was stopped by his butler.

"Young Master, I know I am not in any position to interfere with what you are planning on doing but this is the first time I've heard of you having an ancient power," Ron spoke. Cale started fiddling his fingers.

"Well, I got them when I sneaked out before and when Youna and I went out," Cale answered. The redhead could just tell the butler off since it was not his business but after waking up as a child once again, he developed a soft spot towards the people he cared for.

Eruhaben flinched from Cale's statement, 'them'?

"Wait, how many ancient powers do you have? You just said 'them', are you talking about multiple ancient powers?" Eruhaben asked in shock. The golden dragon couldn't sense or smell anything from Cale since the redhead was hiding his powers. Cale wanted to cry. The people he brought with him were too smart.

Cale started counting with his fingers, "I have wood, restoration, wind, earth, fire, and water."

The two ancient dragons widened their eyes, "WHAT?!"

The others flinched from the sudden change of pitch, especially Cale.

"Amazing, you're lucky you didn't die," Eruhaben said in passing but Ron and Vicross' eyes turned cold.

"What?! Why haven't I heard about this?! Why do you keep picking up those powers?!" Youna yelled in anger.

"There were no human beings who possessed two or more ancient powers since their body will explode due to the greatness of those powers," Olienne explained as the three—namely Youna, Ron, and Vicross—stared at the redhead viciously. Ron took a deep breath and sighed heavily which made Cale flinch and look at him.

"It's amazing this child hasn't exploded yet," Eruhaben added, feeling amused from what he learned.

"Young Master," Ron called with his benign smile but his eyes were cold.

"We'll leave you for a while and we can continue this adventure once you're done," Olienne said as he dragged the other dragons away from Cale and his butler and chef.

The breeze blew gently and the birds chirped beautifully and yet the atmosphere around the Young Master of Henituse and his servants was cold. Cale currently sat on one of the rocks and couldn't help but hang his head low as he was found out by this scary Ron and Vicross. The father and son duo sighed as they could see that their Young Master was afraid of them. Ron crouched down to meet Cale's eye level and now they are facing each other. The redhead's pupils were shaking. The young chef patted the head of their Young Master.

"Like what I've said earlier, Young Master, I am not in any position to interfere with your decisions or actions. It's just that we also don't want you to get hurt," Ron said in a gentler tone.

"May I ask this, why are you collecting such dangerous powers, Young Master?" Ron asked. Cale hesitated to answer for a moment.

"I-I just don't want my people to get hurt that's why I have to get stronger," Cale answered truthfully. Now, he felt like he should just tell the truth to his butler and chef. After all, they were not just normal servants.

"Is the reason you have to get stronger is something you cannot speak of?" Ron asked patiently. Cale nodded. His reasons were something he really couldn't tell to anyone, not to his family and this assassin father and son duo. Ron and Vicross observed Cale after his answer. Their Young Master had a sad look in his eyes, he was also gazing at somewhere far that both of them couldn't see or understand.

Why do you have such a look on your face, Young Master? Ron thought. Cale looked incredibly lonely, scared and pained with his gaze. It's not the gaze of someone afraid of them, but it was a frightened expression for what is about to happen.

I wonder what you can see with those eyes, Ron's expression turned soft. The Cale in front of them was someone who looked like he had seen the end of the world, even though he was still a child.

Cale has become too soft over the years, he could guess it was the product of being alone for years and continuously watching his loved ones die before his eyes. If he regressed immediately, after his supposed death from the White Star, his trashy mouth and attitude would remain. He would have told off or yelled or thrown tantrums if he was being nagged or pestered. He would have ... before, but it was different now that he had to relive this life once again. He changed and became smarter compared to before, he knew there were ways to fix something. He learned he had to express his gratitude and apology towards others as life is too short.

"We understand, Young Master. We won't ask you any more than this," Ron smiled as he gently caressed Cale's head.

Ron hasn't felt this concerned about others after losing everything except to his son. At first, his concern towards the first Young Master of Henituse was purely out of his duty and curiosity. But after observing him for a while, it seems that their Young Master was someone who involved himself with something dangerous. So dangerous that this child in front of them will never disclose it to anyone. Ron and Vicross understood it very well as they, too, had something they couldn't talk about. The father and son duo couldn't help but be concerned with their Young Master since they do not want him to engage in something that would cost his life. That wasn't the kind of life their innocent and pure Young Master should have.

What do you know, Young Master? Ron wondered.

As his hyung, I guess I should watch over Young Master so he won't get in trouble, Vicross thought. The young chef proclaimed that seat as he started to get fond of their Young Master ever since Cale started pestering him in his kitchen and had requested food he himself did not know of. He felt Cale was the younger brother he never had.

"Thank you for understanding, Ron, Vicross-hyung," Cale smiled.

After that, Cale and Youna entered the Capital. Ron and the others waited outside the gates. Cale's mission was to drag the first prince and bring him with them. It won't be fun if he and Youna were the only ones who will enjoy their adventures. Cale told Youna the coordinates to the King's office, he also told the red dragon that they should remain invisible before they appear in front of the king. And so, they teleported inside King Zed's office.

A/N: Thank you for reading!

A little extra:

After Cale and Vicross' cooking session (when they made Salisbury steak) in Chapter 9, Cale continued to request food from the chef. Cale made a list and recipes of those foods and confectionaries for Vicross to create. And the redhead would sometimes simply watch the young chef when he cooks. Cale often sneak in to steal some food whenever he gets hungry in the middle of the night and Vicross busted him. The young chef let it go since Cale was showing his charm and Vicross was weak against children. This went on until Ron learned about it and both received a lecture from the scary old man.
