Chapter seven: Whale Tribe

Cale had successfully obtained the [Energy of the Heart] and now, he was standing on one of the cliffs at the Ubarr Territory where the [Sound of the Wind] was located. He looked at the sea filled with whirlpools and couldn't help but to shudder at the sight. He felt that he will die if he fell in that whirlpools, luckily he had his ancient powers with him. He carefully examined the location and when he found a good spot where he could enter, he went to the town and looked for an inn to rest.

After landing himself a good inn, he went out and strolled around the town. The night life in Ubarr Territory was different from their territory. Since their place was near the sea, there were a lot of seafood delicacies. He bought some grilled squid and chicken skewers to fill his grumbling stomach. He has been running around he hadn't notice that he haven't ate. After feeling full, he went back to the inn and took a rest.

The next day, he just stayed inside his room as people might recognized him if he went out. He plan on getting the [Sound of the Wind] at night. He just laid there and eat from time to time, but most of the time he was asleep.

Night comes and Cale checked out of the inn, he then proceed to go where the [Sound of the Wind] was. The whirlpools were raging in the sea, and Cale felt scared at first then he calmed himself. He activated the shield to protect him and began to descend in the sea.

Good thing I have the shield, if not maybe I'll be ripped to pieces because of this whirlpools, he thought feeling grateful for his shield. Cale then found the boulder where the top was buried. He reached the seafloor and crouched down to dig out the top.

Why is it a sin to steal something that they sacrificed people to create? Especially when I was just going to return it to the people? You trash bastards! Why do bastards like you have such powers?!

Cale was startled when he heard the voice of the Ancient Power. He continued digging while he listened to the voice. He's good at listening after all. According to his notes, the previous owner was a thief yet she cared a lot for people dear to her. This power he was about to obtained could control the wind.

This stupid water! If my friend's light was here, it would burn it all!

Hmm, light? Is it another ancient power? he thought as he continued digging. Cale could hear the frustration and anger of the ancient power. After thinking, Cale realized he was running of time as he was about to reach his limit for the shield. He hurriedly took out the top. He took a step back and the boulder tilted on one side.

If it was a sin that I stole it, why do they claim to not be sinners when they lied to humans? This world is rotten! It's a rotten world where only the rich keep getting richer!

Well, the world has always been rotten. People with power will only use everything to keep things in their advantage, even if it meant sacrificing their people for their sake, Cale thought as he listened to the angry voice. In his notes, it was said that the power only needed one thing. It was liberation. Cale destroyed the top and the wind that poured out from the top started to surround him.

You have the power of recovery. Make sure not to get caught like I did. Be free.

Oh, this ancient power knew the owner of [Energy of the Heart]? Anyway, it is my plan not to reveal myself and make sure I will live freely, he thought as the wind started to surround his heart. He could feel his heart beating wildly.

Ugh, what is this? he said as he clutched his chest. Cale tried to calm his heart but the wind was still surging inside his heart. Then, the wind rushed towards his feet and formed a tattoo on his ankle. Now, he could see the whirlpool which was now silver in color gathering around his feet.

Cale immediately swam back as his time ran out. He activated the wind and it swirls around his feet. He cut through the water towards the surface, since he was too preoccupied he didn't notice the small whale rushing towards him. Thus, he bumped his head—full force—on to the whale's head. Cale lost his concentration from his ancient power and started to drown. He began sinking as he lost his last remaining breath. The last time he saw before losing consciousness was a whale rushing towards him.

Paseton, the blue-haired, half-blooded whale, was about to go to the cliffs near the city to witness the human's night life. Since he was a child, he hasn't experienced the danger of human but have known about it. He rushed towards the cliffs at fast speed, he didn't notice someone was swimming under the water. And before he realized, the person already bumped into his head and he looked at the person he accidentally bumped. The person was a child, and he began sinking. He immediately swam towards the child and brought him in the surface.

The blue-haired half whale was panicking when he saw the redhead child bleeding from his nose. He laid the redhead on the rocks near them, he immediately transformed into his human form and checked whether the boy was alive. He heard the heart beat of the boy but it was faint, a moment later the redhead started coughing out blood with water. Paseton greatly panicked and he saw the redhead's eyes fluttering. Cale slightly opened his eyes and saw the beautiful, blue-haired person in front of him but soon lost his consciousness again. Due to this, Paseton ran back to his tribe to seek help as he couldn't do it in the land of the humans.

After a high speed swim, Paseton immediately went to his father to ask for help. The tribe were looking at him and at the child in his arms. Whitira, his older sister, saw him and rushed to his side.

"What happened? Who is this?" Whitira asked.

"I don't know him, but I bumped into his head full force," Paseton cried. Her older sister started to get worried as the child in her brother's arm has no intention of waking up soon.

They immediately laid Cale in a comfortable bed and the physicians in their tribe looked after his well-being. Paseton was still beside the redhead, waiting for him to wake up. Whitira patted her brother's shoulder telling him the boy will be fine. Even so, he couldn't help but to feel worried and guilty. Paseton fell asleep beside the redhead.

The next morning, Cale woke up in an unfamiliar place. He sat up and looked around the room. The room was luxurious, not as grand as his room, but he could tell that the person living here has money (power).

Ah, I guess I have overused my ancient powers. I passed out, he said as he facepalmed. He was worried about the person who saved him, he might get the wrong idea. He sighed.

"You! You're awake!" a sudden voice was heard, Cale looked towards the opened door and saw the blue-haired person he saw last night.

"Y-Yes, are you the one who saved me?" Cale asked.

"Yes, and I'm sorry for bumping into you."

"N-No, it's alright. It was a whale who bumped into me." As soon as Cale said that, he realized something, is he a whale? He looked at the blue-haired person in shock which darkened the latter's face.

"You're a whale?" asked Cale. During his past life, he didn't encounter any whales from the Whale Tribe since they were less in numbers but they were strong.

"That's awesome! This is the first time I've seen one!" he excited exclaimed which made the blue-haired whale flinched.

"You're not scared of me?" the whale asked.

"Why would I? You saved me, I owe you my life," Cale answered with a smile.

"Also, I'm not a pure blooded whale. I am only a halfling."

"What about it? It doesn't matter whether you're half or pure. No matter what anyone will say about you, you are you." Cale nonchalantly replied. The half-blood whale stared at him, his eyes were shaking. He didn't reply. Cale looked at him in worry as the whale looked like he was about to cry.

Did he suffer because he was only a halfling? Did I say something wrong? he thought and approached the whale.

"Are you alright? Did I say something wrong?" Cale asked. The whale shook his head and looked at the redhead.

"I see, you must have experienced something awful from being a halfling. Everything will be fine, those people may not accept you but don't worry they're not the only people in the world," Cale tried to console the whale as he took his hand and patted his arm. The blue haired whale interlocked their fingers and started to smile. He didn't know but he felt comfort from what the redhead had said.

"What's your name?" the whale asked.

"Ah, where are my manners! I am Cale. How about you?" he replied.

"I am Paseton," he smiled. Both of them smiled at each other, and Paseton's heart started to lighten the thoughts he have been keeping.

Unbeknownst to them, the Whale King, Shickler and his daughter, Whitira were listening to their conversation. Shickler couldn't helped but smile towards the redhead who doesn't have any prejudice against them. In fact, he was so accepting to his son. Whitira also felt the same way. She admired the redhead as he was kind for him to be human. They had experienced the harshness of those people and even in their tribe, she saw how their people harass her brother as he was only a half. Seeing their interaction made them feel hope that maybe, just maybe, their beloved Paseton will find his own place.

Food was delivered to Cale and Paseton and Whitira entered the room where the redhead was resting. After hearing their exchange earlier, she and her father decided to let them talk for a while and gave them space. She then delivered their food as she also want to converse with the redhead. They ate first and when they're done, Whitira looked at the redhead. Now that she's closer to the redhead, she sensed some strange powers from the child but couldn't identify what. Yet looking at the redhead, he looks incredibly harmless.

"Cale, may I ask what were you doing in that part of the sea?" Whitira asked, and Cale looked at her.

Woah, these two whales are extremely beautiful! he thought and can't help but admire the two whale's beauty.

"I was looking for something and I didn't have any luck as I wasn't able to find what I was looking for," Cale answered, he lied actually. Whitira only nodded and looked at his brother who was staring at the redhead intently. Ah, he started to get attached even though they just met today. And this little Cale looks incredibly dense since he can't sense my brother's stares.

"Noona, he said he could tour me in the human city," Paseton said which earned a shocked expression from Whitira.

"But that place is dangerous for you," Whitira retorted, she looked at the redhead and Cale just smiled.

"I understand Miss Whitira's concern. But any place in this world is dangerous, even for me," Cale interjected.

"I have heard Paseton's desire to look around the city to learn more about human being. I am also aware of the fact that Paseton haven't visited one, since he was afraid." Cale continued.

"I will not force Paseton to come to the city, as what you said it is dangerous. But not everyone is harmful, he can just come if his family have given him permission."

"I see, you're so understanding," Whitira replied. Paseton looked kind of sad as he couldn't go there immediately but understood why he can't.

"I'll leave now since I have to help my Father," Whitira added and went out. Now Paseton and Cale was left alone.

Cale needed to go back now as he was gone for a whole week already. He was getting worried as he didn't receive any reports from Summer—who's pretending to be him— at home. He glanced towards Paseton and saw his sullen look.

"No need to be sad, if you have gotten permission from your father, you can go to the city and I can give you a tour as I promise," Cale said.

"Really? I hope you won't break that promise," Paseton replied, the redhead smiled and reassured him.

"Promises are meant to keep. And I don't break promises," Cale responded and patted his shoulder. Paseton smiled in response.

After regaining his strength, Cale walked around the Whale Tribe and he saw the different gazes directed at him. Paseton was walking side by side with him while showing him around their Tribe. Even though the stares hurt, Cale couldn't help but be amazed by their beauty—though Whitira and Paseton and King Shickler have different type of beauty. He could also see things and practices he hadn't seen in their city. He also tried the delicacies they have and he ate them along with Paseton. He somehow became friends with Paseton, and he doesn't mind since he was a pure soul.

Cale had told the King of Whales he needed to go back that afternoon and Paseton, along with Whitira, brought him to the shore. He requested to get off near the cliffs as he don't want to get the attention of the people living in the city.

"I need to go. Thank you for saving my life again, Paseton," Cale said, as he smiled while keeping his hair from swaying on his face. Paseton transformed into his human form and approached Cale.

"You're welcome, and thank you for your kind words earlier," Paseton replied and held the redhead's hand. For some reason, the whale found this small hands warm.

"We'll see each other again. Thank you for your hospitality, Miss Whitira. See you next time," Cale said as he bid goodbye to the two siblings. Paseton and Whitira waved goodbye too.

As they watched the small back of the redhead, Paseton couldn't help but feel joy as he had found a human friend. Whitira also felt happy for his brother and was also glad to meet the boy. Once the redhead couldn't be seen anymore, they went back to their tribe.

Cale, on the other hand, had teleported back to his room. He was greeted by his copy, Summer. The copy told him no one had suspected his identity yet, but was worried as the butler, Ron, was really sharp. Due to this, Cale decided to lay low for a while before going out again. He told Summer he could go back to where he came from and sat on his table and opened the notebook he had. He put a checked mark beside the [Energy of the Heart] and [Sound of the Wind] to indicate he had obtained them properly.

A moment later, Ron knocked and entered his room. He was glad to see his butler again after going out for a week. Ron, who was about to help him bathe, smelled something from Cale. He frowned from this.

"Young Master, did you go out again?" Ron asked, as Cale smells like the sea. The butler was confused since he thought his young master was just resting as he was told.

"No, I stayed here," Cale answered without any expression on his face. Ron doubted it.

"It's no use to lie, Young Master. You smell like the sea," the butler sighed.

AH! I really can't hide anything from this old man, Cale cried in his mind. He looked at the butler, who was staring at him intently yet smiling benignly. He felt defeated, why is this old man's senses so sharp? Is it because he's an assassin? It makes sense though, Cale sighed.

"Yes, I went out. I wanted to go to the sea, so I sneaked out," Cale couldn't help but be honest. The butler sighed again.

"Young Master, it is dangerous to go alone in those places without anyone supervising you. What if you got involved in an accident without us knowing?"

"But I am fine now though."

"That's not the point, Young Master. I obeyed and kept my promise not to tell this to the Count, but if this continue it'll be better to report it."

"No! I am really alright. This won't happen again, I'll ask permission first before going out next time." Cale nervously said.

I don't want to worry my dad, and I am not yet ready to reveal this gift I have, Cale thought. Even though the butler wasn't satisfied with Cale's answer, as he want him to tell his ability to the Count, he compromised.

"Alright, Young Master. I hope you won't make this Ron worry again," the butler said.

"I won't," Cale replied.

Ah, should I bring him in my outing next time? I guess, I really should make my excursions official and get proper permission next time, Cale thought.

Hearing his Young Master's response, he went to the kitchen to get some food, as per Cale's request. After the redhead ate the food, Ron helped his Young Master bathe and dressed him. Then, the butler bid good night and went out. Cale then resolved himself to tell his gift to his father once he found a chance.
