Chapter ten: Knowing what's Important

Cale Henituse, along with Ron and Vicross Molan, arrived at a snowy mountain located somewhere in Rowoon Kingdom. Ron just sighed in resignation and looked at his Young Master, who's incredibly excited, and glanced at his son, Vicross, who's trying to digest what had happened.

"Young Master, where are we?" Ron asked as he approached Cale and put on his coat.

"In one of the mountains in Rowoon Kingdom," Cale cheerfully answered.

"Can you explain this, Young Master? I am quite confused, how did we get here? Do you have affinities in magic?" Vicross asked.

I guess I should tell them, Cale thought. He looked at the two and answered.

"Ah, I didn't use any magic and the ability I have and used came from the gift of my blood. Since my mother, Jour, was a descendant of Thames, I got it from them. They told me that the Blood of Thames is special, we get gifts by existing in a form of a supernatural ability." Cale explained.

"But in the previous years, two decades to be specific, their gift stopped and I am the first one after those years," he continued. The two quietly listened and tried to digest all the information their Young Master was giving.

"I actually do not know the specific name of my gift as it is too vague, all I could do is to go anywhere I want as long as I know the image of the place as well as the specific time," Cale explained further.

"Does the ability have any sort of a backlash or recoil on your body when you use it?" Ron asked. Cale nodded which stiffened both Ron and Vicross.

"I only need sleep and plenty of food after using it. The gift also got stronger after using it so many times," Cale proudly answered.

"You go out all the time?" Vicross asked with a darkened expression. Who wouldn't? Their Young Master admitted he goes out every time he might have a chance. Ron just shrugged his shoulders. The young chef looked at his father. Cale just covered his mouth as he didn't mean to tell it to them.

"Father, you knew?" Vicross asked again.

"Don't worry, Vicross-hyung. I wasn't harmed during that time and yes, Ron knows it since he caught me one time and I showed it to him too," Cale explained.

"Still, you should be careful, Young Master," Vicross just sighed.

Heh, Vicross-hyung treats me like a child. I am older than you, you know, Cale let out a quiet laugh.

"This is no laughing matter, Young Master," Vicross said.

"Do not worry too much, hyung. I already told Ron I'll ask permission first or I could get the two of you go with me," Cale grinned. Vicross, still not convinced, just shook his head in resignation.

Ho, this is my first time seeing my son get this flustered over Young Master, Ron also laughed quietly.

"So, Young Master, what are we going to do here?" Ron asked.

"We will play here!" He confidently answered.

"We? I am included as well?" Ron asked again in confusion.

"Yes! Me, Ron, and Vicross-hyung will play," Cale answered.

Both Ron and Vicross looked at each other due to their redhead's decision.

Play? Was there a time I played before? The play I knew of was cutting and hitting someone's body, Vicross deeply thought.

As someone who came from the family of assassins, playing was a trivial thing and it doesn't exist in our vocabulary. We do play, but it was a different kind of play, Ron thought.

"Do not worry, if you don't know how to play, I will teach you!" Cale grinned and pulled Ron and Vicross with him. They just went along with their Young Master.

Cale took out a big snow sled from his special bag that baffled the two, wondering where their Young Master got that. Once the sled was properly placed, he immediately sat at the front.

"Come, ride this sled with me!" Cale, whose eyes were sparkling, excitedly said.

I wasn't able to experience a lot of outdoor activities during my past life, except for drinking from pubs to pubs, Cale internally said. The two just looked at their Young Master, unwilling to do what he asked. Cale clicked his tongue and stood. He pulled their hands once again and made them sit in the sled.

"Just sit tight and we'll have some fun here!" Cale exclaimed.

Cale instructed them to pull the sled using their feet and they suddenly slid down the mountain at fast speed. Cale laughed out loud, unbecoming of a noble child, and he looked at the father and son pair whose faces were stiff. After a sudden rush of surprises, the sled stopped and Cale continued laughing.

"Hyung, Ron, you should've seen your faces," Cale said in between his laughs.

Both Ron and Vicross don't know how to react since the emotions they're supposed to feel already died down the moment their family was eradicated, especially for the young chef. Both had experienced losing everything to the point where Ron almost went mad and went off for a killing spree, if not for his young child: he would've. Now, their Young Master was giving them time to "have fun" normally like any normal person does. Ron just let out a laugh which was uncharacteristic of him. Vicross just sighed.

Seeing the expression of the two people, Cale stopped what he's doing and approached them and held their hands which made the two flinch.

"It must've been hard," Cale said, their eyebrows twitching from his first statement.

Does he know something? Ron questioned.

"It is alright to have fun from time to time, you do not have to throw away your goal just to have fun. It is also important to let your mind and body rest from everything," Cale continued as he looked at the father and son duo with a solemn expression.

Cale knew their goals as well as the hardship they had to go through. He knew that was why he was giving them time to spend with one another, as the route they'll take was not an easy one. They never had much chance to normally spend their days as a father and son.

I know that Ron is an assassin and Vicross-hyung is an expert torturer, I also know their profession doesn't need much empathy and emotion but it shouldn't hurt to rest and enjoy their life, right? Cale thought.

"Don't think of anything else right now, just play with me," Cale grinned.

I thought we got caught, Ron sighed from relief.

"Alright, anything you wish, Young Master," Vicross replied.

Due to that, they continued playing and Ron just set up their snacks under the tree. Cale and Vicross continued sliding down the mountain with the sled. They also had a snowball fight which made Cale in a disadvantage as his arm strength was too weak. In that mountain, all they could hear were laughter from the redhead. Unknown to them, a certain golden-haired individual with a red-haired child was watching them. Especially the red-haired child as he got curious about the person with a different shade of red hair.

After that, they went back to Ron and took a break. Once they're done eating, Cale laid his back on the soft snow.

"Young Master, you'll catch a cold from doing that," Vicross said.

"Hyung, lay down here with me," Cale replied and Vicross just followed his Young Master's whim. He was reluctant since he doesn't like dirt sticking on his body, but had no choice.

Cale rolled and laid his stomach flat on the snow and looked at Vicross.

"Hyung, what's your dream?" Cale asked. Vicross stared at the redhead's face for a while since he was taken aback by his question.

"I—I want to be a great chef," Vicross answered after a pause. I want to get revenge and get our household back, was what he wanted to say but he couldn't tell it to their young master.

"Hmn, hyung is a liar," Cale whispered but Vicross heard him still which made him flinch and look at his young master back. Cale just smiled. Does he know?

"I see, hyung is a good cook. You'll definitely achieve that dream," Cale replied and smiled. Vicross didn't respond and just watched the redhead looking so sleepy after all that. He reached out to Cale's head and ruffled his hair gently. Cale giggled and let his hyung play with his hair. The redhead rolled and laid his back on the snow again and stared at the sky.

"Young Master—" Vicross was about to say something but he swallowed his words. Cale glanced at him and gave a small smile then looked at the sky with a gentle gaze and smile.

Young Master, why are you treating us with gentleness? The question Vicross wanted to ask but prevented himself. Ron, on the other hand, was just watching the two with a benign smile. Looking back at their Young Master's actions after losing his birth mother made Cale more gentle and kinder than before. It wasn't bad but the young chef couldn't help but wonder. Every person Cale deemed close to him, he treated them as if they were delicate and a treasure for him.

As Vicross watched Cale's expression right now made him somewhat emotional. He felt something he had abandoned before, the sense of belongingness. He felt like his Young Master was accepting them as his family. Additionally, the smile and the gaze of their young master was so distant as if he was looking far ahead.

"Young Master, what do you think of us?" Vicross asked as he turned his gaze towards the sky. Cale looked at him and chuckled. Ron sat beside them.

"Well, Ron is like a guardian for me, um, more like a second father," Cale slowly answered. Vicross and Ron looked at the redhead intently, shock was visible to their faces but they returned to their usual expression.

"Ron took care of me when my father was not present, he also made sure I strode along the right path. He even tolerates my behavior, sometimes," the redhead continued, letting out small chuckles in between. The two quietly listened to their young master.

"Vicross-hyung is like an older brother to me. Hyung feeds me and goes along with my whims from time to time. When I was younger, there were times where you played with me; even until today. Ron and hyung never let me feel lonely," he added and started to yawn since the fullness and coldness started to get to him, he was sleepy. Ron started caressing Cale's hair and smile was both visible to the father and son duo's faces.

"Ron and hyung are a family to me, we don't really have to be blood-related to be called family," Cale concluded. The redhead sat up, which Vicross followed too; unconsciously. He pulled the two together and hugged them, which surprised both of them but let it go.

"That is why, do not go somewhere dangerous. If it is inevitable, please come back safely," Cale let out his honest thoughts. He didn't want to repeat what had happened before. He doesn't want to see the people he considered family dying before him again.

The two widened their eyes in shock and concluded their young master knew about their identity. They heard soft muffled cries from the redhead as the child hugged them. They gently patted their young master's back, nobody let out a sound that moment. They just let the fragile and delicate redhead hug them.

Ah, this puppy young master of mine is truly lovable. How cute. I will definitely won't let anyone harm you, Ron thought as he smiled under his breath.

Vicross's mind, on the other hand, was in turmoil. All he could remember was his family getting massacred and he along with his father escaped to the Western continent and had to lower themselves and serve a noble as a servant. His only driving force to continue to live on was to exact his revenge towards that organization. Never did he imagine the Young Master he served would treat him as his family. A warm sensation on his chest was felt and could not help but to return the hug of the small child in his arms.

Right before the sun sets, after Cale somehow calmed down, they went back to the Henituse estate while the redhead was sleeping on Vicross' back. He fell asleep as soon as they returned to the Henituse territory. The redhead was sleeping peacefully after tiring himself from playing around in the snow. The young chef could hear the soft sound of the redhead's breath.

"Hyung, Ron, spend more time with one another ... don't get hurt ... being alive is important and is the best," Cale mumbled in his sleep, which made the two chuckle.

"Yes, Young Master, being alive is the best," Vicross said as if the redhead could hear him.

"I ... will protect ... you this ... time," Cale continued to mumble which made the two flinch from his statement. They wondered what kind of dream their Young Master was having.

"We will protect you too, Young Master," both said.

When they reached the manor, Deruth immediately ran in worry. He thought Cale got hurt, but Ron explained that the young master was just tired from playing. Deruth let out a sigh of relief and let Vicross carry Cale to his room. Once they reached Cale's room, Vicross laid the redhead on his bed and excused himself. Ron changed Cale's clothes and tucked his blanket to keep him warm, since his skin was still cold. The old butler caressed Cale's hair and face with a smile on his face before going out. Ron felt like he really gained another son and couldn't help but chuckle and felt warm from the thought. Ron, then, went to Deruth's office to report.

Before Cale, Ron, and Vicross went back, on one side of the snowy mountain, near Cale and the others, a pair of individuals were watching them. A golden-haired and a red-haired person, but the redness of the other was different from Cale's; since Cale's hair was red as blood, while the other was red as fire. The golden-haired was an adult whilst the red-haired was a child. They could hear the joyful laugh of the red-haired child while the other two, who were with him, just played along. The golden-haired individual sensed something from the child but couldn't point out the exact power, which made him want to learn more about the child as he belonged to a mighty existence. While the red-haired individual with him was more curious and wanted to approach them, if not only for the golden-haired adult. Light shone above them which revealed their beautiful appearance and reptilian eyes. Both individuals belong to a great and mighty existence: a dragon.

"Grandpa Eruhaben, I am curious about that red-haired child," the red dragon spoke.

"Well, I am curious about him as well but I can't leave my lair since I am looking after the black egg," Eruhaben, the golden dragon, replied.

"Then can I follow them? I am a strong and beautiful dragon, I have learned what I need to learn. I can conceal my presence so people won't see me as I observe that red haired child," the red dragon sternly responded.

"It should be okay, I know you are strong but you have to be careful. I am only looking after you and your brother because my friend asked me to," Eruhaben said.

"I already taught you how to live properly as a dragon, you also had your first growth phase. You can do whatever you want. Feel free to come back whenever you feel like it," the golden dragon added which made the red dragon sparkle in joy.

"In exchange for protecting me in my early stage, I'll share what I found about this red-haired human. I will tell you if he is the human I am looking for," the red dragon responded and he didn't wait for Eruhaben's response and switched back to his dragon form and turned invisible and flew towards the three humans.

Eruhaben let out a sigh and teleported back to his lair. The red dragon followed Cale and the others to the Henituse territory. He was observing the weak human who was being carried on the other human's back. The two humans who accompanied the red haired human didn't notice him so he managed to enter their house, and later followed the red human to his room. He settled himself on top of the table near the bed where the red human was sleeping. He couldn't help but be curious about this human, when he was an egg he heard a warm voice and somehow a bloody-red color envelopes the voice. Soon after he hatched, the green dragon told him that he and his brother were brought to him by a certain individual and was told to protect them. The red dragon was smart and his memory was great as he remembered the name of the person who brought them to a safe space: his name was Cale Henituse.
