Chapter thirty-six: The end of his journey

A/N: This chapter will be in Cale Henituse's point of view.

* * *

After the meeting with the Dragon Lord, I found myself asleep where the World Tree stood. I wasn't sure what was happening to me and I couldn't control my time travel. It seems I was pushed out from the past.

As soon as I opened my eyes, I was surrounded by wary elves. They couldn't approach me since a barrier enveloped me. I didn't know the World Tree truly existed. I don't even know the reason why I teleported here.

The World Tree's branches swayed the moment I noticed it. I sat up and unintentionally touched its roots, then I heard its voice.

Cale Henituse. A being who's not supposed to be here, it spoke. I stared at the tree without knowing whether I should answer or ignore it.

"Hello," I awkwardly greeted it. The branches swayed again.

I am sure you are aware of what you're doing? You are disrupting the laws of nature. You are creating a future to something that shouldn't exist in a distant future.

I cannot see what you are. I am certain you are not a human being. A simple mortal could not possess that kind of power. The power to do impossible things.

The future is already set in stone. However, your presence made it blurry. Are you perhaps trying to destroy the balance of the world?

There it was again. When I destroyed my old world, I was scolded by the God of Death. After its recreation, I met the World Tree and said the same thing again.

"I have no intention of destroying the balance of the world," I responded.

"I am trying to save it. I may not be the one you all expected but I want to do my part ever since I disrupted everything from the beginning," I added.

The World Tree stayed quiet then it spoke once again.

Very well. Since it is you who decided this world's destiny, nature spoke to me letting you do what you want as long as the balance will not completely crumble. This one will be watching your moves.

"I am glad you understand," I responded.

I clearly have no intentions on destroying the balance completely as I have destroyed it before. I didn't want my people to suffer any more.

After speaking with the World Tree, I disappeared again which I believed I traveled in time again. I felt like I was lost in time, my power was unstable.

Does my power, perhaps, mirror my emotions? I thought.

Ever since I lost them, my confidence plummeted. My control over my power was unstable, if this continues I might really destroy the world like what the World Tree told me.

I closed my eyes and concentrated my power. I circled the energy around my heart. My power was raging inside, wanting to come out and destroy things.

Stop, I can't. I don't want to do that again! I screamed inside my head. I don't want to repeat my mistakes.

My sin.

My emotions swirled and raged inside me, all of them screaming to let it go. However, I knew, the moment I did, my Omnipotence would overflow.

I cannot have that!

I struggled and wasn't aware where I was. I curled up on the ground, all I knew I was inside a forest. As I fought off the emotions inside me, I fell asleep.

The next morning, I woke up and the first thing I saw was a person with white hair and green eyes.

"Who?" I muttered, his face brightened and said something but I couldn't make up what he was saying.

I sat up and he offered me a cup of water, I drank it. I was still in a daze, I didn't notice how the other person looked at me. After five minutes, I finally regained my consciousness and I turned to face the white-haired person, who was waiting for me with a bright smile on his face.

This person somewhat looked like Clopeh Sekka in my past life, I thought as I carefully examined his face.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"Oh, you're finally awake! I am Zachary Sekka. How about you?"

"I am Cale," I answered him. It seems he really belonged to that famed family.

"Nice to meet you, Cale. I thought you'd done for earlier! What are you doing here? This place is not for a child like you," Zachary spoke, since I looked like a fifteen years old boy.

I once asked the gods why I looked like this despite being old. They told me that I took my form before the time all my hopes and dreams were thrown away. I remembered during my first life, I still held on to the fact that my father would somehow reach out to me despite acting like a lout. However, reality wasn't the kindest. He continued ignoring me and would only talk to me through butler Hans. Thus, when I turned fifteen, I maximized my acting by drinking alcoholic beverages as I threw away all my desires, hopes, dreams, and love towards them. As a result, my divine body took the form of my fifteen years old self. The form borders on where my positive and negative emotions were close to one another.

"I am actually lost," I responded. "How about you? What are you doing here?"

"Well, I am traveling around the world to study different legends all over the continent!" He enthusiastically answered. I chuckled. He somehow resembled that bastard who destroyed my family and territory.

"I see, can I come with you? I don't have any specific place to go," I told him.

"Sure! I'd be happy to have someone with me," he smiled.

We talked about all his findings in his travels. He told me a lot about the legends in the Northern continent and Eastern continent. His stories were pretty interesting. I pretty much have read all the stories he collected but I still listened to him. Looking at how happy he was as he told his discoveries made me calm down.

Evening came and Zachary brought me to the inn where he stayed. We continued our conversation as we ate our meal. He told me he'll continue his journey the next day. Since I wanted to come with him, after I felt my powers became stable, he informed me our departure would be early in the morning. It's a good thing there was an extra room to rent in the inn, it'll be embarrassing and awkward to share a bed with a stranger.

As I washed myself in my room, I remembered the book I wrote before when I got here—lost in time. It was a book about the adventures of a certain individual who came from a special bloodline. Well, it was a book about my mother's family. It contained about the family's history as well as our ancestry, our blood's connection with the primordial goddess, Gaia, and the inherited ability which was to control greenery. The story was a little exaggerated and certain book readers will be engrossed to read this.

I'll probably give this to Zachary, somehow this book contained the truth surrounded by an adventure story after all, I thought as I dried myself while looking at the book on top of the table.

The next day, Zachary waited for me outside my room. He greeted me cheerfully and I returned his courtesy. We ate breakfast first before we headed out for his adventure. They were headed to the Western continent. I hadn't visited the place yet ever since I got lost. Luckily, my Omnipotence was stable, so I won't disappear like what I did before. I'd probably enjoy my time here before I set on my own adventure.

As we walked, Zachary told me he belonged to the Sekka Household located in the Paerun Kingdom. I already expected that much since he has the same white hair and green eyes as Clopeh Sekka. He also said that the Dukedom of Sekka was inherited by his older brother and he wanted to take the chance traveling and studying different legends across the continents. His dedication towards new knowledge in regards to legends and mythology was superb. So I decided to give him the book, but I'll only do that if I trust him enough to care for this book.

As we ventured inside a forest just outside the city we were about to enter, bandits suddenly ambushed us. Zachary had a good head on his shoulders and his sword skills were amazing as well. Of course, I didn't let him fight on his own. I used my inherited ability to flick the bandits away. I created vines to whip them away and to wrap around their bodies to slam them on the ground. Zachary was indeed surprised with what I showed them. When we finished knocking out the bandits, my companion approached me.

"You are amazing, Cale! I didn't know you are a mage," he praised.

"About that, I am not a mage. This is our bloodline ability," I responded.

"As expected, you really are a son of a noble. The way you carry yourself with elegance and grace would negate the idea of you being a commoner. I understand you don't want to reveal your household name," he smiled.

Wow, I hoped Clopeh Sekka had inherited his smile and kindness. The Sekka I knew was a bastard and since I didn't want to discriminate against all the Sekka family members, I decided to get to know this person first. I guess, not all Sekka were the same as the Guardian Knight Clopeh.

"I'll reveal my name someday but not today," I replied.

We continued our journey and we came across an old library. We entered and we were greeted by an old man, who manages the old library. We told him we will be staying for a while and not to disturb us. Zachary went ahead and read the books he fancies and I also took a book to read.

There, I noticed something unusual. Supposedly, I planned on skimming the pages of the book but I somehow managed to read everything even if I just flipped the book. This ability ...

"This ability was the same as papa's," I muttered as I placed the book to its original place and took another one to test the Record ability my papa possessed.

I did the same for five, ten, twenty books. Astonished, I closed my eyes and tried to recall any event that led me to have my papa's ability. However, my memory failed me as I don't remember anything that granted me this ability.

"How?" I questioned, not expecting any answer since no one knew about it. Before I knew it, I passed out.

I opened my eyes and I found myself in Phanes domain again. I got up and went to the gazebo in the middle of the lake. Inside the gazebo, a black-haired man waited for me. I recognized that back.

"Jung Soo-ahjussi!" I called, I felt my sweat run cold. I don't know how to face him. What if he was actually mad at me? What if they were angry at me?

"Cale," Jung Soo called as he smiled at me. I could feel my tears threatening to fall from my eyes as I ran towards him. His arms opened telling me to come to him.

"Ahjussi!" I said as I embraced him tightly. "Where's papa and Soo Hyuk-ahjussi?"

Jung Soo-ahjussi didn't answer, instead he looked grim. I let him go and I realized something.

I've stolen the life meant for Kim Rok Soo, how dare I forget! I am sure he knew how I destroyed their world, I thought as I averted my eyes. I felt a hand on top of my head, gently rubbing it.

"Oh Cale, I'm glad you're doing well," he said as he brought me closer to him again.

"Rok Soo and Soo Hyuk-hyung are in some other place. Don't worry, I am with them. We actually talked to the God of Death and I learned that I was supposed to make a deal with him with you," he continued, I quietly listened to his words.

"But you came to our world as a baby and that gave Kim Rok Soo the desire to continue living. Your very existence gave meaning to our lives. When we rescued you in that rubble, we planned on leaving you in the orphanage yet you refused it," he added as he laughed in between.

"Even when the three of us were on the verge of dying, Rok Soo thought of you, the same with Soo Hyuk-hyung. You were on our minds before we died. We were thinking how would you go on with your life without us seeing how attached you are to us.

But we didn't expect the thing you did with our world. I knew you were powerful, Cale. However, I didn't expect you to be that powerful ... enough to destroy the world," he added.

I felt ashamed of what I did. I was tired of losing my people. It was painful and it was the only cry I could do to appease the pain yet I created more despair in my heart. The lives of billions of people who died as a result of my pain and rage couldn't be taken back. There was no excuse with what I did.

"Cale, you must be wondering how you got Rok Soo's ability: Record, right?" he asked. I nodded.

"That was Rok Soo's gift to you. When we died, we spoke to the God of Death since he welcomed us, we told him if we could at least give our abilities to you. He didn't agree with it, nevertheless he yielded when Rok Soo spoke to him. That's why they allowed Rok Soo to give you his gift by using Soo Hyuk-hyung's Embrace," Jung Soo told me.

"Despite Rok Soo's attitude, he truly treasured and loved you. We treasured you, we loved you, that was why Rok Soo gifted you his ability so you will never forget us," Jung Soo added.

I was stunned. I didn't know about it and the gods didn't mention it. There were a lot of things I wanted to ask but Jung Soo-ahjussi was disappearing. He noticed how panicked my expression was so he laughed. Before I could speak, he had already disappeared.

Ugh, why was time so limited? I wanted to tell him the things I wasn't able to say to them before. Will I ever get the chance of meeting them again? I already committed a sin, I doubt our fates would meet again. Oh please, if the gods permit I hoped I would see them again.

I wasn't sure how much time passed but I awoke from Zachary's call. He was shaking me so hard my arms started hurting. He apologized, though. He told me I suddenly fainted and I couldn't wake up no matter how much he called and shook me. I felt bad making him worried for me.

"Are you sure you are okay?" he asked worriedly.

"Yes, Zachary. I was just tired from reading all these books," I answered, trying to reassure him.

"Alright. Let's look for a place to stay tonight," he said as he helped me organize the books I took from the shelves.

Zachary took me by the hand and dragged me around. We settled in a bar with rooms on the second floor. Since there were lots of people, we needed to share a room. Inside the room, there was only one bed, a table and chair.

"Since the bed is big enough for the two of us, I guess we can share," he said as he turned to the bathroom to wash himself. After him, I was next.

After taking our dinner, we both laid our backs on the bed.

"Zachary, what made you love these legends you sought for?" I randomly asked him. He looked at me then turned to stare at the ceiling.

"Well, you see, our territory is also surrounded by a legend where a god blessed our family and gave us a gift. That gift was the lake in our territory. That is why, I am also looking for legends like that, especially the stories about the gods and ancient powers. They are also interesting to read," he answered.

"I see. Your territory has been around during ancient times," I responded.

"That's right. There were some mysteries surrounding the lake, I truly wondered if it was truly a lake," he closed his eyes as he pondered.

The lake in their territory wasn't a lake originally. It was a river. However, their leaders were greedy so they blocked the flow of the river to turn it into a lake. Of course, I won't tell Zachary that. It wasn't my job to interfere with it. A lot of things might change if I meddle with the past. If the truth would be revealed, it'll be better to expose it in the future.

"Who knows, maybe that's also the reason why you travel around the continents to find the answer. But, you know, sometimes the answer is always near you," I said as my eyes started to fall.

"Zachary, tomorrow will be the last time I'll accompany you. I will continue my own journey. Before we part ways, I'll tell you my name and give you a gift," I added as I completely fell asleep.

The next day, Zachary and I continued our journey to the next city. That will be the place we would part ways.

"Cale, before you go can I make a request?" Zachary asked.

"Sure, what is it?"

"Can we have a portrait together?"

"Well, that's alright."

Zachary smiled and he dragged me to his trusted painter. He said that this painter was the one who took commissions from his family so his work was great. Zachary and I fixed our clothing to look formal for the painting. Zachary was wearing a combination of blue, white and grey clothing, while I wore a black and red clothing.

We posed for the painting. I was sitting on a chair while Zachary stood beside me. The painter took five hours to paint the essential parts and he told Zachary the painting will be given after giving it a finishing touch. He paid the painter.

We were currently sitting in the park near the fountain of the city. It was quite peaceful.

"Zachary, I told you I will tell you my name today, right?" I asked. My companion looked at me and nodded.

"My name is Cale Henituse. For now, even if you searched for me all around the world, you cannot find me once I disappear from your sight. Maybe, your descendants will," I told him without looking at him.

"What do you mean? You are a Henituse in the Rowoon Kingdom?" He asked.

"Yes, but let me tell you this. Even if you look for me there, you will never find me. Like I've said, maybe your descendants will meet me," I answered. He looked confused.

"Are you a person from the future?" He asked. I only gave a smile.

"I see. Thank you for telling me," he said as he patted my head.

"Zachary, since you study different legends and mythology, how about I give you this book? I found this and it seems this is the only copy all over the world," I told him as I brought out the book entitled: The Forgotten Existence and gave it to Zachary.

He looked and skimmed the book then he turned to me.

"It is my gift to you. It's your decision whether you will throw it away or keep it," I smiled. Zachary gave me a warm hug.

"Thank you, Cale," he whispered and patted my back.

"I'm glad you're alright now. The first time I met you, you were so distraught. I know you didn't trust me enough to share what was on your mind but I hoped being with me helped you," he added.

"Well, it did. Thank you too, Zachary. I am alright now," I smiled.

That night, just like what I told Zachary I continued my journey and went back to my rightful time.

It was a fun adventure with a lot of mishaps. But I remembered my goal. First, I need someone who will look after these eggs I have in my bag and I knew someone who could help. Since these eggs were children of a Dragon Lord, I was quite sure this dragon would not turn them away.

The next thing I opened my eyes, I was inside a green cave and there I saw a majestic green dragon. I stood in front of him as he growled at me.

"Who are you? And what are you doing in my lair, human?" He asked angrily.

"I am Cale Henituse. I am here to give you a warning. I have no time to spare so you have to listen to me," I answered. The dragon stood as he activated his own dragon fear. Too bad, my aura was greater than his.

"I told you, you have to listen to me!" I shouted as I glared at him with my divine aura. He looked shocked.

"Hahahaha! You are so funny! I guess you are not just a mere human," he laughed. I sighed.

This damn dragon, I cursed under my breath.

"Back to the point, I am here to tell you that someone will come here to kill you and take your heart. If you want to argue about how strong and majestic you are, that isn't enough to defeat them," I told him, he looked angry at my words.

"I know you are confused with my words by keep my warning in your head. I need your help in raising these children," I added as I took out the red and black dragon eggs. His eyes widened upon seeing the eggs.

"These eggs are the Dragon Lord's children. I rescued them from the same organization who will kill you. They are capable of killing majestic dragons like you. After all, they have killed two already," I continued. I expected some arguments coming from the green dragon but he quietly listened as he noticed how severe the situation were.

"I am someone from the future. I need any help I could get that is why I need you. If you know other dragons, I hope you could help me too," I concluded.

The green dragon sighed as he took the two dragon eggs from my care. The green dragon transformed into a beautiful, green-haired elf.

"I understand. I might know someone who could help me care for these children. I'll keep your warning in mind, thank you for telling me," he finally answered as he ruffled my head.

I was lucky I found a nice dragon. I smiled at him and I told him some things as I gradually disappear from his sight. He must've been shocked from what he saw as the last thing I witnessed was his widened gaze towards me.

Then, as I swirled around the darkness of going back to the past, a scene played in front of my eyes. It was the life of Choi Han. I fondly looked at the projection and saw how happy the black-haired hero was. He was a happy child, just like anybody else. He was practicing his sword in his home with his father. I saw the events of Choi Han's life. From his childhood until when he reached his teenage years.

I watched Choi Han as he was transported to the Forest of Darkness. Who would've thought he had spent years in the Forest of Darkness? I saw the weak Choi Han running away from the monsters attacking him. I saw how he cried every night and day, confused about everything. I saw how lonely he looked as he tried to survive alone inside the damned forest. I witnessed how he struggled to get stronger so the monsters wouldn't kill him first. I watched how his emotions faded as time went by. He wandered around the Forest of Darkness for who knows how long. Until he found Harris Village. The village I loathed.

Choi Han was happy seeing another human being. The village warmed up to him and taught him how to speak our language. I saw how he cherished these people who don't share any ounce of blood with him. He went inside the forest from time to time to train and pick up some things that he thought were useful.

Then, one fateful day, White Star went to the village and destroyed it without any single soul surviving. Choi Han ran back as fast as he could but what greeted him was the burned corpses of the people he deemed his second family. I saw how enraged he was as he slayed all the black robed individuals. He didn't spare any of them. Upon realization, before he could ask anything from them, he already killed all of them. He cried as he gave these people the proper burial he could offer.

Choi Han traveled as fast as he could to the Henituse Territory to speak with the Lord. I was still acting trash that time as I insulted his people. I guess I deserved that beatings.

As I watched the events that happened after that, all I could feel was sadness. No anger or anything, just sadness. These people suffered because of the White Star's doings. If he did not exist, would these people attain the happiness they deserved? The White Star was strong as he had cultivated himself for a thousand years. What could Choi Han do when he only became strong for a hundred of years?

Choi Han needed people. He needed someone who could support him, financially, physically, emotionally and mentally. I don't even know if Choi Han would grab my hand for help, however like I've vowed before: I will support him from the shadows.

Choi Han and I don't need to be friends. Once he remembered everything, Rosalyn, Lark, Vicross-hyung, Alver, and Ron could become his ally, like what he already did. I'll just help him get more people to support him. Every tribe who wasn't under the influence of the White Star could become his allies too. I'll help him get a connection with them. After all, we all have the same enemy. Like how White Star gathered his forces, I'll silently increase Choi Han's power and influence.

That's right. That's what I will do.

I went back inside that darkness again as I traveled back to the right past, I once again saw the events that will happen in the future. I was reminded of my papa and ahjussi's teachings. It showed me the smiling faces of the people I cared about and at the end of the pictures, I was reminded of my goal. That was to make everyone happy. Not just my mom and my family. But also the people. It was truly my chance towards happiness.

Before the darkness ended, Gaia met me with a smile. She told me she would seal some of my powers and memories. I would eventually regain them as I grow older. And just like that, my soul rested in my eight year old body.
