Chapter thirty-two: Cale from a thousand years

A/N: This chapter will be in Cale Henituse's point of view.

* * *

I, once again, fell into the depth of darkness with no one but myself. I continued to drift deeper and deeper into what seemed like a sea of oblivion. Didn't I experience something similar in the past? Was it the time I tried to go back to the starting point? Was it when I got lost in time and space? No, I remembered. It was when I tried to fall asleep and I always found myself sinking into the darkness. I felt like it was eating me, so I became afraid of falling asleep.

After the war ended ten years ago, I made Choi Han fall asleep. I created a cradle-like mulberry tree to keep him safe. He will not die nor starve, he will be sustained by the roots. The God of Life and Creation had told me, I could go back to the past to change my fate. However, wouldn't it be better if Choi Han regressed? After all, he IS stronger than me. That's why I resolved to send him back once the full blooded moon appeared. I will look for ways to make him remember what happened in the future once he comes back.

I made a pledge and wrote my name on the ground: Cale Henituse, so I won't forget. Then, a surge of light gathered around my feet. Letters and characters surrounded me, then a series of images of events flashed before my eyes. I didn't know what it was, but I knew it would help me greatly.

After the history was shown to me, a word was engraved in my soul.

Omnipotence

The word was incredibly unknown to me at first, and it seems that was the name of my gift the God of Life and Creation have spoken about.

"What can I do with this gift?" I asked hoping someone would answer, but who am I kidding? I am the only person left and the other one was asleep.

I sighed and climbed on the tree where the hero was sleeping. I took a peek at the cradle I made. Choi han certainly looked innocent when he's sleeping.

"Hey, I managed to get the gift of my blood. Too bad it was given to me this late, if somehow it manifested when everyone was still alive, I would have helped you even though I hate you," I said to the sleeping Choi Han. I don't know if he could hear me, I just wished he wouldn't.

I jumped down and sat on the roots of the tree. I somehow felt sleepy after getting that gift, but strange enough my fear from falling asleep vanished after I had Omnipotence.

"I have been awake for a long time now, I hadn't caught any sleep ever since the war ended," I said as I stretched my arms and legs and settled on one of the comfortable roots.

My eyes became hazy as I slowly closed my eyes to sleep.

A bright light made me open my eyes, I found myself in the middle of a starry room. When I looked around, I was surrounded by different people with strong divine auras in them.

Divine aura? How come I could sense it? I thought as I sat up.

I was surprised when I saw my hand, it was no longer wrinkly. I looked up to see my reflection since a mirror suddenly appeared before me. I became younger, my height and face were the same when I was fifteen years old.

"What's happening?" I asked, then the God of Life and Creation appeared smiling before me.

"Welcome to the Realm of the Divine, Cale," he greeted. He was still in his usual demeanor, a warm, wise and friendly old man. Then a man in a black robe walked towards me.

"Cale Henituse, I loathe you. Because of your interference, the world you're living in right now will be destroyed. Even its time is destroyed! Even if you try to go back into the past, you won't be able to do it since it doesn't exist anymore!" he said, gritting his teeth.

I destroyed that world? Wait a minute, does this mean everyone here in this room are gods? I thought.

"All of you are gods, am I right?" I asked, then I saw a red and platinum gold robed by the black robed man's side. Nobody answered me except for the old man since he nodded.

"I see, you said my world is destroyed right? Aren't you all gods? Why are you putting the blame on me? Isn't it your fault to begin with? You let the White Star roam for a long time!" I finally answered after feeling the heat of the stares of these gods. Nobody refuted my statement.

"Gods cannot interfere with the matters of the Mortal Realm, that's why the only interference we could give was to guide our children to stop the White Star," the platinum-gold robed woman said.

"That's correct, and I was supposed to interfere. I was supposed to get my child to save this world, but you went ahead and completely destroyed it," the black robed man added. The old man faked a cough.

"There, there, calm down all of you. It's a matter of who talked first. First come, first served. I just had an early head start from all of you," the old man butted in and shielded the redhead.

"Why did you even interfere?! You always watched everyone since ancient times, you didn't do a single thing, you should've remained still like you've always done," the black robed man replied.

The old man just sighed. Hearing all these made me realize gods were not different from human beings. They point fingers to people they want to blame so they won't be held liable to their faults. I suddenly laughed which made the other gods look at me.

"I can't believe what I'm seeing. Gods and humans are all the same, instead of coming up with a solution here you are blaming me. The White Star has been alive for a thousand year, and yet nobody here managed to stop him," I said, glaring at each of them.

"We have a plan on killing the White Star and that was to let my child transmigrate here in this world, but since the God of Life and Creation talked to you first, my chance of persuading you was no longer possible," the black robed man responded.

"In other words, you want to use my body for this transmigration thing? But why are you only moving around now?"

"That's because I felt bad for that child! His soul was supposed to inhabit the White Star's body but his soul was pushed away by the White Star which affected his fate as well. In the end, he led a life filled with pain and misery."

"I see, that might be the reason why my time is warped. I was supposed to go back into the past but instead of my soul, the person you favor will inhabit my body," I said as my eyes turned cold.

If other worlds existed, that must be the only solution. I might've been so desperate to save everyone so I might have accepted the deal if not for the God of Life and Creation. But what was done is done already. There's no turning back time now, I already destroyed this world's balance and time. I closed my eyes and sighed.

"It's no use blaming me for this, I am just a human being," I said. The other gods were about to say something when smoke surrounded my feet and a beautiful woman with red hair and green eyes appeared and clung to me. Vines and flowers began to sprout around my feet, and the woman's laughter echoed.

The gods were shocked when they saw her, they immediately prostrated themselves in front of the woman.

"Fufu, don't bully my child here," the woman spoke. She was not wearing any robes like the other gods present here. She was wearing a white tent-dress, the skirt reached to her ankles, she was not wearing any shoes. The woman gently patted my head.

"Who are you?" I asked. The redness of her hair was the same as mine. My birth mother had mentioned before that only Thames had this kind of red hair.

"I am Gaia, a primordial god of earth. And I am your ancestor," Gaia answered. My jaw almost dropped as I didn't know I had this kind of ancestry. The other gods were equally surprised. Gaia brushed the hair on my face and tucked it in on my ears.

"Our dear children, as you know I am nearing my end. The only people who could inherit my position were my children, but no one was suited for it. That's why I seek my mortal children. And I finally found who fits the prerequisites, after all this child is mine!" Gaia cheerfully added. The gods lifted their heads and looked at us

"You did a great job, Phanes," Gaia praised the old man. Hm, so Phanes is his name.

"Why him?" the black robed man asked. Gaia stood in front of me.

"Why? The primeval gods have been watching all of you, we didn't interfere to all of your whims but sending my child away from me is something I cannot forgive, Thanatos," Gaia answered, remaining graceful in front of everyone. Thanatos flinched after hearing her words.

Wait, wait, wait. I didn't sign up for this, Cale thought as he gazed towards Gaia.

"Follow me, my child. I will pass on my knowledge and wisdom to you. Also, you don't have to bow to them," Gaia smiled and offered her hand towards me. I reached out and before I knew it, I was in a different room filled with books.

So I have no final say on this? Cale thought as he got dragged around. Eventually, he gave up.

"How long am I going to stay here?" I asked as I looked around the place.

"As long as you finish absorbing all the things you need to learn," Gaia gave a vague answer then she left.

"Why did you leave me here?!" I yelled.

"All of these are my knowledge and wisdom, all you need is to read it. All my children are smart, you awakened. You received my gift, Omnipotence. That's the greatest strength I could give you. You are the only one who has it. Good luck!" the voice of Gaia reverberated in the room.

What?! But there are a lot of books here! I screamed internally.

"Where should I start?" I sighed and walked towards the nearest shelf.

I started reading and reading for hours. I didn't feel any exhaustion from continuous reading. And that made me think it was because of my gift. I finished reading the whole shelf in a day. Then I continued the next day. And the next day. And then the next day. I lost count of how many days I spent reading and understanding the records in the library. I learned the names of the gods and their nature.

"So Thanatos was the name of the God of Death. Angelina for the Sun God. Phanes for the God of Life and Creation," I mumbled.

I read about the creation of the world, how Gaia was the foundation of all. There were also twelve seats for the primordial gods, the first group of gods who birthed the world. The contents of the records were interesting so I enjoyed most of it. However, I learned that my birth mother was the one who's supposed to inherit Gaia's position but she wagered her soul to pass it to me. As a result, she died for my sake. Additionally, due to the greatness of her wish, she wasn't given permission to reincarnate.

"Mom," I said as I tried to hold back my tears. At that moment, I realized I had to do something.

"I will do something about it and let you reincarnate mom. Even if I will no longer be your son or our fates won't be connected, that will be fine. I will give you another life so you can be happy," I whispered. I took a break from reading since my energy got drained after learning the truth of my mom's death.

I roamed around the room, I couldn't go out since the prerequisite to open the door was to finish the records here.

"Hm, now that I think about it, what was the name of the person who's supposed to take my place in this body?" I asked as I looked up.

There were still a lot of books to read. I thought of ways to use my Omnipotence. I learned that it was supposed to grant me anything I desire. However, I was still inexperienced and couldn't fully control it.

"If only I could see and read everything in one go," I subconsciously said, then all the books from the shelves started to float and open.

As I was staring at the ceiling, I saw a replica of my eyes. The reddish-brown eyes I got from my father were looking straight at me.

Wow, that's so freaking creepy! I shivered. I felt I was watching myself, but...

I could see everything from there! I screamed in my mind. Then the books began to flip and I was able to read everything in one go. After a few minutes, I returned all the books from where they belong and closed my eyes.

A sudden headache and a bleeding nose began to rise, I curled up since the pain was unbearable. Before I could call somebody, I lost consciousness.

I didn't know how much I slept that time as the moment I opened my eyes once again, I was back from the Divine Realm. The pain was also gone as if it never existed. I also noticed that I retained the form I had in the Divine Realm, a body and face of a fifteen year old me.

I climbed to where Choi Han was sleeping to check on him, luckily he was still there.

"You had a rough life, Choi Han," I said as I brushed his forelocks. That time, I suddenly felt bad about badmouthing the people he held dear. I was immature then.

Since I was waiting for the full-blooded moon, I roamed around the world to see what this place had become. I went back to my territory, as I was on the way, I saw how much wreckage the war had caused. Some corpses were still in the process of decaying, then I spotted a large black dragon corpse. Its head was no longer there and its heart was carved out.

"This poor dragon child died without experiencing the proper growth of a real dragon," I said. It seems I could see the truth of any being.

I continued my journey to my territory and when I reached the once lively Rain City my heart was filled with sadness. I remembered how my family succumbed from the hands of the enemies. I remembered how my father protected everything even if it cost his life. I remembered how my stepmother took over to protect what my father left behind. I clearly recalled the face of my younger brother as his last breath left him. I remembered the face of my sister who completely lost all her hope and life after facing all those. In the end, I was the only one left.

There were no flowers left so I created one. I offered white lilies to all of them.

"Father, no. Dad, if I meet you again, I will not make the same mistakes again. Stepmom, I will start calling you mother and try to get close to you. Basen and Lilly, I will try my best to become a better older brother to you," I said.

"I pushed all of you away because I thought that was the only thing I could do to protect you, but I was wrong. I should've used my brain more to come up with a better solution. Now, all of you are gone. My words and tears won't reach you anymore," I snapped and cried my hearts out. I thought I was incapable of crying, but I was just tricking myself. I was so used to lying about myself that I ended up believing my own lies.

After calming down, I turned around and decided to walk back to Puzzle City. Everything turned black since the enemies were using dead mana on people. The White Star poisoned everything. He even gave dead manas to his subordinates to strengthen them. However, they were only fools. The White Star tricked them so he could have easily conquered everything.

"If I remember it correctly, Ron died due to a mermaid's poison. Ron wasn't weak, I knew he was strong. I also heard that the Mermaids who fought against the Whales were stronger than normal. The source of this dead mana must've been used to make them stronger. After all, mermaids are dark attribute people," I said. I didn't know how my butler, Ron, died. Vicross-hyung was the one who delivered the message to me.

I was shocked when I heard that, then soon after, Vicross-hyung followed his father to the afterlife. I was devastated as I realized I was alone. I signed up to become a soldier, since they needed more people to join the troops. Soon after I joined, Choi Han's allies began to die one by one. Alver also died, leaving me and Choi Han alone. The hero managed to slay the White Star but he will return.

I continued my journey to travel around the world. I have all the time in the world so I could do whatever I want until the blood moon appeared. I offered songs to souls who held a deep grudge towards gods. If they continue cursing them, they might be sentenced to reincarnate as a demon. As time went by, I learned many uses of my gift. I could teleport, offer peace, create, see, and everything I desired.

I went to the Breck Kingdom, Whipper Kingdom, the Jungle, the Northern Kingdoms, Mogoru Empire, Caro Kingdom and many more. I also discovered the place where the Dark Elves were residing and there I found a dead necromancer. I always thought they were extinct but I guess there will always be one left. Her soul was too sad, she was yearning to see the world and meet different beings but she died before she could do that.

"If I meet you once I go back to the past, I will show you how beautiful the world we're living in is!" I smiled.

Whenever I got bored, I sat beside Choi Han and began to tell him stories about my journey.

"Choi Han, you know I began to travel around the world. I've seen the places you went to, I also went back to Harris Village. I'm sorry, I was mean to you back then. That was the last place my mom visited before she died. There are no excuses for the words I spouted before," I said as I pressed my finger unto his forehead.

"How I wish I'd seen those places when it was still standing," I said.

"I wonder how your life led you to, the despair in your heart was too deeply rooted. I guess you were too focused on achieving your goal," I continued.

"When we meet once I get back to the past, I'll be nicer to you."

I laid beside him after I felt sleepy and comfortable. I place my right palm on his chest to feel his heartbeat. The sound was too gentle despite his ferocious attitude when he's awake. It sounded like a lullaby to me so I drifted off to sleep.

I lost track of time so I didn't know how much sleep I had but when I saw the sky, there I met the blood moon. I immediately prepared myself for the ritual. I needed to make sure Choi Han would retain his memory.

After a few hours of preparation, I woke Choi Han up. He was pretty surprised to see me. He slept well after all. I was sure he didn't know how much time passed and he must be confused. But we don't have much time.

"Did you have a good sleep?" I asked him with a gentle smile so he wouldn't become feral as soon as he realized it was me, Cale Henituse. Choi Han didn't answer me but he kept staring at my face.

"That's great! I don't have time to explain what will happen to you since I'm running out of time," I continued. I watched his expression as I approached him. He took a step back but I grabbed his hand. I started singing a song I created to properly lead him to the past.

Since the world was destroyed, I went ahead and created a similar world to this. The only difference was the timeline.

"Wait! What is this?!" Choi Han asked in panic. I continued to sing. The ritual cannot be intercepted or else it will fail.

I could feel all the heat in my body begin to rise. I created the image of the time and place where Choi Han will be sent back. I recalled all the necessary events and history of the world to recreate. I cannot afford to miss a single detail. A divine glow began to illuminate the both of us. After singing, I opened my eyes and I could see Choi Han vanishing. I smiled at him. I wanted to laugh at his ridiculous face but I guess I'm too spent.

"Choi Han, live well and happily this time. And I will be the first one to find you," I said as he completely disappeared. My strength left my body and I fell.

"I didn't know I could do that, wow," I said as I breathed heavily.

"My Omnipotence is too powerful. I really could do anything I desire, but I cannot restore what will be permanently destroyed and I cannot bring back anyone to life," I muttered as I closed my eyes.
