Chapter twelve: Beloved being
After the incident with Basen, Cale was grounded and was not allowed to go outside their estate. The reason for this wasn't because of what he did to the instructor but to keep him safe and to regulate the power he has. Deruth was worried for Cale's safety. He was aware of his son's power as Jour had it too. What makes it dangerous is Cale hasn't learned how to control it properly and it always bursts from extreme emotions.
Cale, whose body and mind became the same as a child, couldn't properly control his emotions. During his first life, the power of wood manifests after reaching his adulthood. Now, his power was linked to his soul and could still use it after he went back. His small body couldn't keep up with his great power.
It was noon and Cale was scheduled to join his family to have lunch with them as he had missed eating breakfast with them. He suddenly recalled what his father said when he was summoned to his office earlier.
"Cale," he called. The redhead looked at him.
"Yes, dad?"
"I am sure you are aware of what you have done."
"Yes, dad. But I don't regret what I did," Cale said sternly.
"I know you would say that. I will be prohibiting you from going out until you reach age twelve. I am not punishing you because of what you did but I am worried. Your power seems unstable and we need to make sure it won't burst like that again. It will be dangerous to you," Deruth replied. Cale nodded. He understood why and he was mad at himself. Whenever he was engrossed with the records in his mind, his emotion control became a mess and it made his power explode.
"And do not worry, my dear, something like that won't happen again. I am sorry for failing you again," Deruth responded as he approached his son and caressed his cheek.
"I ... just hope it won't happen again. I don't want any of them to get hurt just because of some power struggles," Cale replied and leaned his head towards the palm on his cheek.
"You are a father, a husband, and a leader of a territory. I trust you, you at least know how to protect what is needed to protect," Cale continued. Deruth looked at him with a serious expression. He didn't expect his child to be this mature at his age. He wanted to cry as he felt it was his fault for pushing his beloved son into maturity.
"Yes, of course. I promise you it won't happen again," Deruth finally said after a long pause. He then brought Cale into his arms and embraced him.
"Promises are meant to be kept, dad. Don't you dare break it," Cale warned and let himself melt from the hug of his father whom he longed for such a long time.
Their luncheon was uneventful and they talked about trivial things. After that, Cale went to the greenhouse with books in his arms and Ron on his tail with a trolley filled with snacks and refreshments. When they arrived, he settled himself in the lounge area of the greenhouse. He began reading the books he brought and Ron excused himself after a while as he had some duties he needed to attend to.
After a few hours of reading, Cale drifted off to sleep. The red dragon, who was observing Cale, took him and they teleported to the golden dragon's lair.
.oOo.
A split second after the red dragon took Cale, Ron, who just finished doing his duties, went back to the greenhouse to look after Cale only to find out the red head was gone. The place where Cale was sitting earlier was in a mess, the books were scattered as well as the pillows and blanket. His expression turned cold and looked for the redhead in the greenhouse but to no avail. He immediately reported it to the Count after learning Cale wasn't in the greenhouse and inside the house.
Deruth immediately mobilized his knights to look for his son, he also ordered Ron to help them find his son. Of course, Vicross followed and helped them too. Chaos and worry filled the estate when the red-haired, firstborn son of Henituse County disappeared without a trace.
.oOo.
Cale, who was sleeping peacefully, unaware of what had happened to him, dreamt of something he was familiar with.
He was in a garden filled with a variety of trees and flowers. In the distance, a pavilion could be seen. He walked over there and was greeted by the same old man he met before.
"It's been a while, my child," the old man smiled beckoning him to sit across him as he poured tea on his teacup.
"It's been a while, grandfather," Cale replied and sat down. He started calling the old man 'grandfather' when he got frequently summoned in his domain. Also, it was the request of the old man.
"Are you enjoying your life now?"
"A little. I still can't relax since I know what will happen in the future."
"I see. It's good you are cautious, but you're still naíve as always."
"I am not. By the way, what's the reason you summoned me here again?"
"Is it wrong for me to see my child and converse with him from time to time?"
"No, I am just curious."
"Cale, my child, your gift will start to unseal gradually. I actually sealed it off since your child-like body won't be able to handle it."
"What do you mean 'sealed'? I just got my gift after waking up as an eight-year-old again."
Before the old man could answer, the sound of the bell went off from the distance once again.
"The time is up. Keep this in your body at all times. This gemstone is blessed by me, the God of Life and Creation, of course the God of Death, God of Sun, God of War, God of Peace, and God of Time blessed this too and this will completely hide your gift as well as your other abilities and powers. It can even hide your abilities from the dragons. Be careful out there, don't die before fulfilling your wish. You are our beloved child, we want to see you moving, talking, and smiling, we might destroy the world if you die," the old man smiled viciously and bid farewell.
Cale woke up and stretched his arms. He remembered the words of the God of Life and Creation.
"'Beloved child of the Gods', my ass. That's a terrible thought!" he cursed as he scratched his head, then he looked at his right palm where a gemstone with six points representing each god's protection. He was already aware of that but whenever it was pointed out he couldn't help but shiver. He sighed and finally had the time to look around.
He was surrounded by gold. From furniture to decorations, everything was made up of gold. It then struck him, he was in an unfamiliar place.
"W-Where am I?" Cale asked. He turned around and there he saw a beautiful elf with golden hair and a pretty red haired teenager.
"Who are you?" Cale asked the two individuals in front of him.
"Ho, so you are the beloved child of the Gods. Is that the reason why I can't sense any powers from you?" The golden haired elf didn't answer but asked. Cale frowned from being ignored and he casually looked at the red haired teenager instead.
The audacity of this human, ignoring this great dragon in front of him, the golden dragon thought.
"I am a red dragon, human. I brought you here since I couldn't find the chance to speak with you alone," the red teenager spoke.
"How did you get to know me?"
"When you came here the other time with the other two humans, I followed you and observed you for a while before I took you here in Grandpa Eruhaben's lair."
"Oh, so both of you are dragons?" Cale said as he felt his cold sweat on his back.
The two nodded.
"The World Tree has been pestering me to meet you. It seems even nature favored you," Eruhaben said.
"Wow, what a terrible thought," Cale unconsciously said his honest feelings then he covered his mouth when he realized.
"Ha, you disrespectful bastard," the golden dragon let out a sigh like laughter. Cale laughed awkwardly. He wanted to roll his eyes but he was afraid he wouldn't be able to get home if he did. He looked at the red dragon who was staring at him intently.
"I think I understand why you took me here, red dragon. But I can't tell you the whole story about it. It is something I can't share," Cale said.
"If your inference about me was the Cale Henituse who gave you and the black egg to the green dragon, that was me," Cale continued. Both dragons were shocked. The Cale Henituse in front of them was a child and not an adult, like the green dragon had said.
"Something happened to me which made my body and soul wander around different dimensions and timelines. I am prohibited from giving detailed information about it," Cale added. Both dragons were not satisfied with the redhead's words but they couldn't do anything if he was forbidden to talk about it.
"I see, I understand. If that's the case, it can't be helped," the red dragon replied.
"Is red dragon your name?"
"No, I don't have a name. I hate the names Grandpa Eruhaben gave me."
"Be grateful, you brat." Eruhaben scoffed.
"He just calls me 'red'. I know I am red but the name's not cool!" the red dragon complained. Eruhaben clicked his tongue and shook his head. Cale softly laughed.
"That is why, I will grant you the honor to name me, human," he said.
"Me? Well, it's an honor," Cale smiled. He suddenly immersed himself with his records trying to think of a name, due to this he couldn't focus on what the red and golden dragon were saying.
A name for the red dragon? If I remember it correctly both him and the black egg were the Dragon Lord's offspring. Both dragons were the Dragon Lord's light and joy, Cale was too engrossed with his thoughts.
Light? Hm, I could think of a name based on that... light ... Youna, Cale had a eureka moment.
"Human?"
"How about the name Youna? Your first name Youna and your last name Miru?" Cale asked.
"Youna ... Miru? What does it mean?" The red dragon asked. Eruhaben watched the two with an amused expression.
"Hm, you. That's your name. Youna Miru. Your name means light. I didn't randomly think of your name. I thought about it real hard as I remember you were the offspring of the last Dragon Lord," Cale answered. Both dragons looked at him in shock as they didn't expect him to know.
"Both you and your brother were the Dragon Lord's light and joy. That's why, I granted you a name fit for you and that is Youna. The last lord of magic hoped for the both of you to have a bright and happy future ahead, so you will bear the name light that shines brightly and strongly against all odds. Your name will serve as a wish, hoping you will live the bright future your mom envisions you to have," Cale continued explaining.
"I see. It is a good name! Alright, I will grant you the honor of using the name you gave me. From now on, I am Youna Miru!" the red dragon cheerfully said and transformed himself into his dragon form and flew around the lair. The red dragon was two meters, he was quite big.
"You are pretty smart," Eruhaben praised which made Cale blushed a little.
The red dragon continued to fly around them. He was incredibly happy with his name. Cale laughed since he thought that the red dragon was quite a peculiar one. He didn't expect a mighty dragon to react that way. The golden dragon just sighed in resignation. No matter how much he teaches the red dragon about acting how a great and mighty dragon should be, the red dragon always ends up like ... that ... that not-so-dragon-like personality.
Will the black egg be like this too once it hatched? Both Cale and Eruhaben thought.
Cale stayed there for a while and listened to the story of the red dragon. The golden dragon prepared some snacks for them, he was against it at first but he later on served them. Cale forgot that he was taken here without the knowledge of everyone. Not even to his old butler, Ron.
I think I am forgetting something ... oh well, maybe it isn't important that's why I forgot, Cale thought as he continued to converse with the cheerful red dragon beside him.
Youna, the red dragon, was quite big that was why he morphed into his human form again. He told Cale a lot about him and the golden dragon. Cale learned that the golden and green dragons were actually ancient dragons. Youna also showed him some fascinating things he could do with his magic. The red dragon was actually anticipating their meeting since the green dragon always tells him the story of Cale.
Few hours had passed, Cale still hadn't noticed the time. He actually fell asleep after listening to the red dragon's story and after filling up his stomach.
"Hey, kid, I think you should bring Cale back to his home," Eruhaben said as he noticed the sky turned dark.
"Oops, I forgot about it. Should we wake him up?" Youna asked.
"No, let him sleep. This unlucky bastard didn't even notice the time," the golden dragon sighed.
"Should we just keep him here?"
"We can't do that. If what you said is true, the humans around him adored him greatly, it'll be a terrible idea to keep him here. They will search for him."
Youna sighed, "Okay. I'll get him back."
.oOo.
Going back to the Henituse manor ...
They searched all afternoon, Deruth couldn't even focus on his work as he was worried about his son. Ron and Vicross looked for clues but they couldn't find anything. They searched around the territory but they couldn't find their young master. The people in the territory heard the news and they got worried as well. It was thanks to their young master why the gangsters lurking around their city were gone and never came back.
Night came and there was still no news about the firstborn son of Henituse. Deruth and Violan's worries become worse each time passes. Basen, who learned about his brother's disappearance, went to Cale's room to find comfort. Basen curled on Cale's bed and couldn't stop his crying as his anxiety got worse when their knights still couldn't find him.
A moment later in Cale's bedroom, three people suddenly appeared. Basen, who was in the room, was shocked as he saw his older brother sleeping in the arms of a beautiful, golden haired elf and a sharp looking but pretty fiery red haired teen. Basen met the two's eyes.
"This must be his brother," the golden haired elf said as he laid the sleeping Cale on his bed. Basen, who was still shocked by the turn of events, looked at his brother's sleeping face. He touched him to ensure he is real.
"Ha! You're lucky we didn't keep him with us, small human," the fiery red haired individual said. Basen paled from what he heard. Both dragons smiled at the young child, who just stopped crying, and immediately left.
They want hyung? No! Basen's thoughts were swirling inside his head. He got off Cale's bed and immediately ran out and alerted everyone.
"FATHER! MOTHER! HYUNG IS BACK!" Basen yelled along the corridors. He knew that his actions were unbecoming of a noble but he didn't care. He ran as fast as he could until he reached the room where his father and mother were at.
"Father, hyung is back! He is in his room!" Basen cried as he told Deruth the news.
The servants who heard him immediately informed everyone that Cale was back. Deruth and Violan, along with Ron and Vicross, rushed towards Cale's room and there they found him sleeping peacefully. Unaware of what he did and happened. All were shocked as Basen was telling them the truth.
"Cale, thank goodness. But how did he get here?" Deruth spoke as he touched his son's hand.
"That's right, we already searched this room but he wasn't here," Violan added. They looked at Basen who found him first.
"Um... there were two beautiful people who appeared out of nowhere and brought him here!" Basen answered.
"What do you mean?"
"I am not sure... But a golden haired elf was carrying my sleeping hyung and they left right after they brought him back," Basen explained.
"They also want hyung. They said we are lucky they didn't keep him," he finally cried as he remembered. Violan comforted the crying child.
Everyone who heard him turned pale and their gazes turned cold, especially Deruth, Violan, Ron and Vicross.
They dare take my son from me?
Ho, it seems the puppy young master is loved by many. Elf? That's rare to find here.
Because of this, Deruth told Ron to put Cale in a different room for the meantime. Deruth immediately ordered the Knights to tighten the security around the estate and he assigned the Vice-Captain to personally guard Cale.
Cale who slept heavily wasn't aware of what his disappearance affected everyone in their house. He just slept like a log.
