Prologue: The War 20 Years Later

War was such a terrible and sad thing to experience in the world, more so to the people who fought hard to achieve peace. No matter how much one wants it, nobody could predict how war ends. Just like what had happened to a certain world where Rowoon Kingdom existed.

On top of the rubbles and corpses of his dead comrades, stood Choi Han with an expressionless face looking at his headless foe— the White Star. After 20 long years of fighting off against the White Star and his organization, he was finally able to defeat him. Instead of screaming for joy, Choi Han felt empty. He was supposed to feel happy that he finally defeated his wretched foe but he couldn't.

What's the use of winning this war when all of my friends are dead and I am left all alone, he thought. He couldn't cry from the death of his friends nor he could celebrate in joy for his win. Looking around the Puzzle City, he could see the effects of war. Dead bodies all around him, destroyed buildings and temples. He looked at the red sky looming over the Kingdom and he closed his eyes and slowly brought his eyes to a certain place. There, he spotted a familiar red hair across a distance looking at him with wide eyes.

He hated red hairs, as it reminded him the bastard who insulted the death of his second family, who accepted him, and he remembers the White Star from it. He slowly rushed towards the individual and the red-haired man took a step back.

"Why? How could a trash like you survive?" Choi Han asked as soon as he reached the redhead. But he didn't answer, instead the redhead's eyes were locked to a certain man. He couldn't take his eyes away from the White Star's dead body. No way was what he thought. Angered from being ignored, Choi Han grabbed the redhead's shoulder tightly to the point it might leave a mark. The redhead looks at Choi Han's eyes.

"Cale Henituse! Why are you the only one alive?!" Choi Han, again, asked in frustration. Cale tried to get away from his grip but he was too strong.

"The White Star isn't dead," Cale said, ignoring the question asked. Choi Han's hand loosened his grip to his shoulder and shook.

"No way... No way! You saw it! I killed the White Star!" Choi Han shouted. He was now angry beyond belief.

"Yes, his body is dead but he is still alive! I don't know how to explain it but he is alive!" He responded. Choi Han was sure he killed the White Star and yet, this trash was telling him that thing was still alive. He couldn't believe it. He laughed maniacally which made the redhead flinched.

"I guess, even wars could dull a certain pampered trash brain like you," he said in contempt. The redhead, once again, ignored Choi Han which made the latter more mad. Cale walked towards the body of White Star to confirm something and now he was sure. He is alive. His body might have died here, but I don't know why I am sure he is still alive.

Cale was about to touch White Star's dead body when a hand grabbed him forcefully.

"What?!" he asked in surprised. Choi Han was looking at him as if he was about to kill him. Cale struggled to remove Choi Han's tightening grip on his wrist when he was suddenly flung forward and away from White Star's body.

He looked at Choi Han and he saw him unsheathing his sword from his scabbard and ready to kill him. Without any second thoughts, one of his hidden abilities sprouted and created a big mulberry tree. Surprised from what he saw, Choi Han looked back and forth towards the redhead and the tree. Cale guided the branch and trunk towards Choi Han and he wrapped him around it. Choi Han struggled and tried to cut all the branches but it was too fast, as a result he got wrapped by the tree like a spring roll, only his head could be seen.

"I know you are tired, so sleep for a while," Cale said as he approached Choi Han. When the latter was about to say something, a palm appeared in front of his face and smelled a relaxing scent from it making him drowsy and fell asleep. Cale then placed the sleeping Choi Han in the gaps of two big trunk of the mulberry tree. It stood tall in the middle of the war's aftermath. As soon as Cale thought Choi Han was safely settled in the tree, he approached it and sat on the roots and laid his back on the trunk below. Cale looked around and etched the memory of this hopeless nightmare. Once he got the picture clearly in his mind, he slowly closed his eyes.

Cale Henituse recalled the dream he had days before the final battle against the White Star. He was a soldier that was why he was one of those who will defend the kingdom from that evil bastard. In a pleasant and beautiful garden, which you could no longer find in any place of Rowoon Kingdom, stood a gentle looking old man beckoning him to come to his side. Feeling the safe vibe from the old man, he slowly walked toward him. The old man's eyes became two crescent moon from smiling ear to ear as he watched Cale slowly lessened their distance. Once they were standing face to face, the old man pointed to a white and gold pavilion with flower wreaths and vines surrounding the pillars. The old man gestured Cale to sit inside which made the latter follow. Now, both of them were seated and the old man was pouring chamomile tea for Cale. There was a tower of sweets that will go well with his tea. Cale sipped on his tea and started to relax and munch on the sweets.

"Blood of Thames," the old man called to the relaxed redhead. Cale perked up and looked at the old man. His eyes were shaking in shock hearing his late mother's last name.

"My child, it seems fate is cruel to you. You haven't done anything worthwhile and haven't used the gift of your blood," he added, unable to comprehend what the old man had said, Cale just opened and closed his mouth not knowing what to say.

"Gift of your blood?" Cale asked after calming himself.

"Ho, it seems you didn't know," the old man raised his left brow and put his teacup down.

"The Thames' Blood are special and valuable as their ancestors was already present since ancient times, they were gifted special ability. But these were only granted to full-blooded Thames. As time goes by, the gifts were given to selected people. It reached to the point where only one per generation will be given a gift." the old man continues and Cale closed his eyes as he listened carefully.

"And in this generation, from the moment you were born, you were the chosen one who will bear a gift. Other Thames won't be given a gift until you die. But seeing you right now, I can see that you don't have the gift nor know about it." Said the old man and looked at Cale intently.

"I have an ability where I could sprout any plants and trees. And more importantly, there were other Thames?" he asked.

The old man nodded, "There are, but not as many as before since they got hunted." Hearing about this fact made Cale shudder. He didn't know about it nor tried to know them, as he was already devastated from his mother's death he shut all the connections and possibility of knowing his mother's blood.

"So, what do you want me to do? The battle is coming up, no one knows what ending this war will lead," Cale calmly said as he stared at the old man's amethyst eyes. He smiled at the redhead.

"Yes, no one knows the ending of this war. All of us are agitated since we don't want the White Star in our realm as he will bring forth much destruction to this world. You might already know my identity as we talked here, and I am here to offer a deal with you," the old man answered.

"What deal?"

"If, and only if, you failed to destroy the White Star, I will give you a chance to bring you back to the past with your future memories intact. However, if you choose someone else to bring back to the past, their memories will not be retained as it is only possible because of your blood."

"I see, I understand. How will I be able to do that?"

"On the day of the dark blooded full moon, the doors toward your past timeline will open. The ritual for that is etched in you heart. You will know once the time comes and you will be brought back to change this world's fate."

Before Cale could respond, the sound of the bell echoed from the distance. The old man stood, "the time is up. The decision is yours, my Child, the Blood of Thames." With that, the old man vanished and he woke up.

Back to the present, Cale Henituse was leaning on the mulberry tree's trunk and looked towards the sky. He could see the bright moon illuminating his surroundings. He didn't know how many years will pass for the dark blooded full moon to appear, that's why he decided to wait. He stood up and he looked at Choi Han who was sleeping peacefully in the tree.

"I hope you have a pleasant dream. Good night, Hero," he softly said. He could keep Choi Han alive by absorbing the nutrients of the soil where his mulberry stood. Cale, on the other hand, doesn't feel any hunger.

He waited.

Five thousand years passed and the long awaited night came.

Cale Henituse didn't age but one can see he had lived for far too long. There were no longer emotions present in the eyes of the redhead, as he had waited for who knows how many years. There were no corpses surrounding him as it became bones or dust, the rubbles from the buildings were long gone, he just waited until the fated night comes. Cale stared at the dark blooded full moon present in the night sky.

"It is time," he said in a mellow voice. He then released the awoken Choi Han from his bindings. The black haired man looked intently at the red head who has now a long hair that reaches his waist and wore a blank expression on his face. The redhead's clothes were also different from what he remembered, he was now wearing a white robe that looks like a saint's clothing. Choi Han didn't utter a single word as the redhead gently put him down. He looked around and could see that nothing remains except for the bones of the fallen people of the kingdom.

"Did you have a good sleep?" Cale asked in a soft voice. Choi Han flinched from the softness he heard from the redhead and nodded his head. He could see the red head smiling from his response. The light coming from the dark red moon perfectly illuminated the figure standing in front of him, his hair was swaying in the wind and he looked ethereal.

"That's great. I don't have any time to explain what will happen to you since I am running out of time," Cale said, as he approached Choi Han who took a step back but Cale continued and held both of Choi Han's hands. The latter's were shaking, he didn't know why but something was different from the redhead he knew. Their hands started glowing as he heard Cale Henituse singing who knows what.

"Wait! What is this?!" Choi Han asked but was ignored by the redhead as he continued singing and the glowing became brighter and brighter until it reached Choi Han's neck. The redhead lifted his face and looked at Choi Han eye to eye. He could see Choi Han's eyes shaking, Cale laughed softly but heartily for the first time in thousand years.

"Choi Han, live well and happily this time." Cale spoke, his eyes never leaving Choi Han's face. He could see that Choi Han was worried for him, he smiled as the cracks around his body continued to spread.

"This time, I will be the one who'll find you." That was the last line he heard from Cale Henituse.

I don't know much about the Thames Family since nothing much was mentioned in the novel yet, so I made an OOC there. Tell me what you think about this fanfiction! I am more obliged to listen to your suggestions and opinions (criticisms). Thank you for reading, see you next time!
