Voice of the Heart (0.1)

**Jay Jay's POV**

I woke up from a peaceful sleep at the villa, but the sight in front of me startled me. Someone was lying beside me, with their arm wrapped around my waist. Keifer?

**Jay:** "Kwanan, why are you here?"
**Keifer:** "I-I'm not Kwanan, I'm your wife," he muttered sleepily, eyes still closed.
I had no idea what he'd been doing here last night. I checked myself—no pain, clothes unchanged. He probably just wanted to sleep beside me. He looked like a giant baby when he slept. I propped my chin up with my hand and silently watched Keifer.

**Jay:** "You must be so tired. Whatever's going on, don't keep it from me, okay? I'm here."
I smiled. I had gotten swept away by the love he gave me. I couldn't believe it—I admitted to myself that I loved Keifer, but I never thought I'd love him this deeply.

**Jay:** "You know, you're such a troublesome jerk. You annoy me, you make me mad, you make me explode whenever I see you. And yet, I still love you with all my heart. Yuri? I never loved him the way I love you. I admit I used to like Yuri, but just a little—because he was kind, that's all..."

**Keifer:** "Hmm... hmm..."
Still half-asleep—must be deep in dreamland.

**Jay:** "But the one who turned my hate into love... is only you. I love you so much, Keifer."
I wanted to kiss him, but I was shy... so I held back.

**Keifer:** "You..."
**Keifer:** "How much do you love me? Can I feel it?"
Wait—what? He heard everything?

**Jay:** "Are you talking nonsense? You were dreaming, weren't you?"
Crap. I'm so embarrassed. This shameless guy was pretending to sleep just to hear my feelings for him.

**Keifer:** "'I love you so much, Keifer,'" he quoted. Great. I want to run away now.
**Keifer:** "Did I get that right, my dear wife?"
**Jay:** "N-No! I was talking in my sleep. I don't love you. I'm not your wife..."
**Keifer:** "Then who was the one *staring at me* while I was sleeping?"
This guy's like a ghost—he knows *everything,* except how to behave.

**Jay:** "I-I just..."
**Jay:** "I'm hungry. Go make me food." I scratched my head.
**Keifer:** "Okay. But only if you kiss me and call me 'husband' for one day."
Is he nuts now? This 'Snake King' sure knows how to take advantage.

**Jay:** "Fine. Eat alone, then. I'll skip the meal."
He nodded, and we both did our morning routines. I finished first and went to play on the beach for a while.

Honestly, I still can't believe he gave me this island. I love it. I can leave home and come here whenever I want—mostly to escape from "Death God Angelo" and "Star Map" back home. Those two always look like they're haunted.

Before I knew it, I ended up at a familiar spot—the place where we had once poured our hearts out under the dim lights. I didn't want to remember it, but the memories rushed back. I cried—cried for the version of myself back then.

Feeling thirsty, I climbed a coconut tree to get some water. I forgot I could only climb up—not down.

**Jay:** "Shit! I can't get down. Am I stuck here forever?"
**Jay:** "Last time, he helped me down. But he's inside now. I'm still embarrassed from this morning, so I won't call him."

I calmed myself down and decided to climb down.
*Thud!*
I slipped and fell. Ouch. My legs went numb like I had muscle atrophy. I had to crawl back to the villa and knock—couldn't even press the doorbell.

The "Ulupong King" opened the door and saw me all messed up.
**Keifer:** "Where did you go? I was looking for you for the whole 5 minutes."

Seriously? Acting like it's been centuries.

**Jay:** "Went to pick coconuts. Can't you see?" I replied gruffly, rubbing the coconut.
**Keifer:** "There are coconuts inside, you know? Why go pick them?"
**Keifer:** "Or were you mad at me and didn't want to drink?"
**Jay:** "Mad? Who said I was mad? I just wanted to pick it myself."

Truth is, I didn't want to call him "husband," so I went myself. If he wouldn't cook, I'd eat instant noodles or just fast—Angelo said I should lose weight anyway.

**Keifer:** "Come inside. Why are you still sitting there?"
**Jay:** "Okay!"
I stood up—and immediately fell down.

**Keifer:** "What happened?" He helped me up and knelt to check my leg.
**Keifer:** "Don't tell me... you fell from the coconut tree?"
Should I deny it? Admitting it is basically a death sentence.

**Jay:** "No. I'm fine."
**Keifer:** "I saw you fall and rub your butt, but I couldn't come out in time because it was so funny. I was too busy laughing inside."
You're *dead,* Ulupong King.

**Jay:** "WE'RE DONE! I'LL CALL ARIES TO PICK ME UP. LEAVE ME AT THE DOOR. GIVE BACK MY UNIFORM!!!"
I screamed.

**Keifer:** "Let's see how you're going to call Aries."
He carried me inside, iced my leg.

**Keifer:** "Just a small swelling. Sit here. I'll cook breakfast... for *me.*"
**Jay:** "What? What about me?"
**Keifer:** "You didn't call me husband, remember?"
**Jay:** "Fine. I'll starve."

I thought he was joking, but he wasn't. This guy clearly doesn't care about his girlfriend.

**Jay:** "By the way... what I said was real. Let's break up."
He calmly kept cooking, didn't even look at me.

**Keifer:** "Why?"
**Jay:** "Because I'm not ready for a boyfriend."
**Keifer:** "Okay, if that's what you want."

---

**Keifer's POV**

I wasn't too worried. I knew she was just mad. I said I wouldn't cook, but how could I let my wife go hungry? I made her favorite—steak—and gently set the table.

**Keifer:** "Jay, will you eat with me?"
**Jay:** "We broke up already. I'm not eating."
**Keifer:** "I was joking."
**Jay:** "That's not what I needed." She didn't even glance at me.

**Keifer:** "I'm sorry..." I truly apologized.

**Jay:** "Let's eat. So... what did 'hubby' make me today?"
Wait—did she just call me *hubby*? Just one apology and she melted. My Jay Jay is too easy to please.

---

**Jay Jay's POV**

I was just mad because he laughed when I fell. I never meant to break up. He apologized, and I accidentally called him "hubby."

We sat down at the table. He took the knife and fork, cut up the steak, and fed me.

**Jay:** "Just because I called you 'hubby' doesn't mean I'm not mad anymore."
**Keifer:** "Tsss, but I *did* apologize."
**Jay:** "You laughed when I fell..."
**Jay:** "I-I don't like it... I wasn't just mad..."
**Keifer:** "You're upset because I stayed calm when you said you wanted to break up, right?"

He was right. I felt like he didn't love me anymore.

**Keifer:** "Listen. I still love you... so much. I heard everything you said to me and..."
Hearing that, I felt a surge of affection. Yes, I often get cranky, moody, upset with him—but that's the only way I know how to show my love.

**Keifer:** "I know the only way you show love... is through frustration."
He really understands me—better than I do myself.

**Jay:** "Y-You understand me better than I understand myself... Why? How, Keifer?"
I started crying. For the first time, I was truly loved.

**Jay:** "You gave me things I never had. Cyrus just used me for my fame..."
**Keifer:** "He treated you badly, used you. You were hurt from being alone, always feeling like an extra. Your parents didn't protect you, your past haunts you."
**Jay:** "H-How do you know?" I was shocked. Why did he know me so well? My eyes filled with tears. I've been terrible to Keifer, trying to push him away...

**Keifer:** "I have my way."
I hugged him tightly and cried, punching his chest.

**Jay:** "Why do you understand me so much? How much do you love me, Kwanan Keifer? I tried so hard to erase you from my life, to push you away, to hate you. You bore so much alone, took care of your siblings, worried about Section E. I wasn't there for you. Why?"

**Keifer:** "Why do you think you didn't do anything for me? You say you avoided me, but you still waited. You were mad when I hurt you. You cried when Ram attacked me. You weren't by my side for a while, but you still celebrated my birthday and wished for my return."

Keifer cried. It was the first time I'd seen him cry like that.

**Keifer:** "I love you because you are *you.* The Jay Jay I knew is still here, waiting for me, recognizing my change, my effort. You made me change, and changed with me. I love the kind Jay Jay who helps others even while struggling with herself. I love you because you love me—because you're kind. It's that simple."

He swallowed hard.
**Keifer:** "So why do *you* love me?"
**Jay:** "Because you're Keifer—a strong Keifer who takes responsibility."
**Jay:** "I'm trying to change myself too, to match with you. I don't want you to be in pain. When you get hurt, I hurt. When you're with others, I get jealous. I don't want you to suffer alone. I want to hold you when times are hard, comfort you when you're vulnerable. You look strong outside, but inside you're fragile. That's why you're so easily triggered, so possessive. You lacked love, so you became strong. You're kind, so you give—a lot—to many."

**Keifer:** "J-Jay..." He choked up.

**Jay:** "I love you. I won't hide it anymore. I love you so much. I've shown it through actions, but never said it, never admitted it. David was right. Everyone was right. I really love you... more than I ever imagined."

**Keifer:** "J-Jay... I want to appreciate it. Thank you for your patience, thank you for your forgiveness, thank you for waiting for me, thank you for admitting it. Thank you for everything you give. I love you more than myself—I swear."
