Chapter 13 : Solitary Confinement
[Dunk]
"Joong, I love you."
"That's the only thing that is true."
Forty five minutes.
Forty five minutes is the total time it takes to bring him home, away from Joong Archen.
Dunk was expecting that his mother would be doing something to take away his freedom, after she learnt that Dunk recklessly gave his heart to someone she doesn't know. She always did that, and Dunk is really used to it. But he didn't expect that she would send her "armies" just to pick him up, to bring her only son back to her.
That's too much and that just shows him as clear as crystal that her mother doesn't like whatever is happening with Dunk's life right now.
She is trying to make him get back to the way she's prepared to.
And Dunk is never like whatever she's trying to make him into.
All the people that she wanted Dunk to befriend, all the clothes, the foods, the degree, the job, he hates it all . And even before she announces who will become his partner, Dunk is already hating them in advance.
Because he knew it wouldn't be Joong Archen.
And Dunk only wants him in this life.
So before he really steps on his foot to go back to his mother's cage with a full consciousness of what will happen to him, he opens his phone once again and deletes all of his and Joong's conversation.
His mother will confiscate his phone, and he doesn't want her to read all the messages, the conversation between him and Joong. Because that was their private moments that can only be read by two of them.
He doesn't want to share that with his mother.
He just hopes that Joong won't send him too many messages because Dunk's mother will be the one who reads them all.
Dunk is really used to it.
His mother's protocol of making his only son obey her again.
One, he will be locked up in this house until his mother is sure that Dunk learns his lesson and won't go against her will again. He can go anywhere in this house but there are always a couple of eyes that will follow him everywhere, only in his bedroom that he is free from those eyes and finally can breathe. Sometimes, Dunk prefers just to lock up alone in his bedroom and won't go anywhere because he is more free there than anywhere in this big house.
Two, his mother will take away his phone and any other communication tool that can connect Dunk to the world's outside. This is her way to torture Dunk, her way to show Dunk that he is nothing without his parents. They can take away everything that Dunk has.
But Dunk is more rebellious than what he looks like. He tries his best to get free, to show his parents that he wants to live on his own way too. But everything is always useless, eventually . When he was a teenager, he always tried to escape from this house whenever her mother started this protocol but his mother's men always found him. So at the end, Dunk learnt that it was useless to try to escape whenever his mother's eyesight was all on him.
He will be found and she will break every hope that is still burning inside her only son. The hope that one day, he can be free from his own parents.
It's so exhausting and ruthless.
Sometimes Dunk doesn't know if his mother sees him as her son or her prisoner. But one thing for sure, he is his mother's puppet.
When he faces her again, Dunk can see all the raging emotion in her eyes right now and she is preparing herself to fight against her son's stubbornness. But Dunk is different today, he will play his mother's game, because there is something he needs to search in this house.
All the memories that were buried and all the lies that were told.
He wants to search it all first, before he comes back to Joong Archen.
Because the brown eyes were too familiar.
What if there was Joong in his long lost memory? What if the other kid in his blurry memories is him? If yes, why can't they both recognize each other?
He hopes it's not Joong.
Because, if it was a good memory, why does he forget about him?
Dunk is afraid he will find something that breaks them both, but he can't help to always see Joong looks at him with a questionable look and he can't answer any of his questions. He hates to leave Joong alone with his thoughts because he can't give him any answers.
Dunk doesn't have anything that can help him to explain what happened to him in that forest and in that basement to Joong, so he is searching for that right now.
So even though he wants to scream, he wants to run away, he walks toward his raging mother, gives her phone and bravely looks at her.
"How long do you want to lock me up this time, mother?" Dunk feels the pain start creeping in when he sees his mother mockingly smiles at him. "My new semester on my master degree program will start in a week. I need to attend that."
"No need." His mother's voice is as cold as ever. "I canceled that. You won't pursue your master's degree in this country."
Dunk wants to laugh.
He wants to laugh so badly to pour all of his feelings right now.
This is too hilarious.
She was the one who wanted him to go back to this country and right now she is the one who canceled the thing that was forced on him before. Ha... his mother can kill him right now if she wants it, his son's life is really her plaything.
"What else do you set up in my life, mother?" Dunk really loses his mind right now, he just wants to laugh. "Who do you choose as my mate? Can I get to know him sooner?"
Dunk wants to mock his mother but it's no use, she looks at him with her arrogant eyes.
"I can set you up with everyone, but not Joong Archen."
DEG
Dunk's heart beats in a strange way when Joong's name comes out from his mother's mouth. There is a taste of disgust and hatred there. Dunk wonders... why ? And yes, he's not surprised that his mother already knew Joong. Dunk was kissing Joong in front of his people as a declaration and in forty five minutes his mother can know everything about her son's boyfriend.
Dunk knew that his mother would run a total background check on Joong, because he is the one that her only puppet gave his heart to. Maybe the reason why she is raging right now.
"What is so wrong with him?" Dunk tries to challenge his mother, this is his part of the plan too. He wants to see her reaction, maybe he can have any hints about his past based on his mother's reaction right now.
His mother looks like he wants to say something, but she holds herself. And that's weird. His mother is not the typical of someone who can hold herself, she is the typical who will blurt out all the hurtful things to say just to make herself feel better.
"Go to your room, Dunk Natachai." She doesn't reply to his question. His mother shows her back on him and walks away from his sight. Before she completely disappears, she says something with her usual cold of tone that is breaking her son's heart more and more.
"And don't think that your obedience to me right now is the sign that I will let you go outside easily. I will transfer you back to another country in no time, I just need to prepare things."
***
"Can he sleep tonight? It must be hard for him to pass this night."
Dunk looks out at the night sky from his room's balcony, there is a heavy feeling lingering on his heart right now and he knows exactly where that comes from.
He left Joong without any explanation and he can't be contacted for he doesn't know how long.
Joong must feel like he is abandoned by him, he will be very much lost in the situation. It must be hard for him. Dunk feels bad, he feels so bad until he can't sleep. He is only looking at the night sky and praying.
He prays that Joong can get through the night, he prays that his boyfriend can get at least a nice sleep, he prays that Joong won't miss him that much that makes him suffer. He prays that whatever the outcome of this shit happening between them will make them reunite once again without hurting each other too deeply.
Dunk can take all the pain and the longing feelings, but please, don't make Joong feel the pain.
This is weird.
Joong is an alpha and Dunk is an omega, but Dunk always has this protective feeling for the alpha. He doesn't want him to be in pain and suffers. He wants him to always be healthy and happy. He can take all the pain, just please don't let that guy suffer again.
At the end of the day, Dunk just realizes that he is so much in love with him.
And the love he is feeling right now makes his chest tight. He wants to cry, but there are no tears in his eyes.
"I miss him, I miss him so much. I feel sorry for him. I left him alone."
Dunk bows his head low. He feels so defeated right now.
When he feels so weak, he can feel a soft touch landing on his back. He looks up to see, not his mother of course, but his nanny looks at him with pitiful eyes.
"I brought you a glass of hot chocolate."
Dunk smiles a little.
Aunt Pim, his and Dao's nanny from when they were still a baby, the only one in this house that truly cares about his feelings. She always brought him a glass of hot chocolate whenever she thought Dunk was having a hard time from his own parents. She can't do much because his mother's eyes are also on her, and she's his mother's worker, so she can't help Dunk to escape from this house or against his mother's will. But she was always there, to cheer Dunk a little bit with her kind and genuine gesture.
The little things that touch Dunk's heart like no other.
"There was a catastrophe happening in this house when your mother learnt that you spent your first heat with an alpha and when she learnt that you also had a deep relationship with him. You must have seen her face that day, she looked as red as a tomato."
Dunk laughs a little. He can imagine how mad his mother was.
"I keep giving my mother a headache. I will continue to do that."
This time, auntie Pim is laughing besides him while joining him to look at the sky.
"Dunk, are you okay? You look like you want to cry."
Dunk looks at Auntie Pim with his sad eyes. Can this woman be his mother instead? Sometimes Dunk feels like she loves him more than his own mother.
"You must love that man so much."
Auntie Pim can see that already?
"When you stepped into this house, I could already tell how broken you are just from your eyes, dear." Auntie Pim taps on his back again, a gesture of consolation. "How is this guy? Can you tell me?"
Dunk smiles and looks up to the sky once again. "His name is Joong Archen." He feels the taps on his back have stopped, but Dunk doesn't mind it and continues talking. "He has a nice smile, whenever he smiles, he looks like a happy big golden retriever. He is so strong but so soft at the same time, he is so handsome and tall, auntie. He treats me really well and I feel so loved by him." Dunk looks at Auntie Pim who is now looking at him with a shocked face she tries to cover.
"His name is Joong Archen?"
The way his nanny calls his name is too familiar, as if she knew him for so long.
"Do you know him?" The old woman beside him doesn't reply to his question, she only reaches Dunk's body and embraces it warmly. She whispers something, but it is more to herself than to Dunk. "In the end, we can't do anything against fate."
Why does everyone seem to know Joong? It feels like he is the only one who forgot about his existence.
This is only confirming his thought before that Joong was indeed someone from his past.
Dunk pulls out from the hug and looks at his nanny with his serious face. "In my forgotten memory, there was him there, right, auntie? Why did I forget about him?"
Auntie Pim remains silent and Dunk knows he won't get the answer from her.
"Was it related to Dao?"
Dao and Joong, the memories of these two people were completely erased from his mind. The question is, why?
"Auntie, Dao wasn't dead due to sickness, right?"
The shock on Auntie Pim's face is now crystal clear. She looks terrified. "Do you remember it?"
Dunk shakes his head. "No. But there was a fragment from my long lost memory that was visiting me these days, and I saw three little children were kidnapped together."
Dunk needs to hold Auntie Pim because she almost falls on her knees.
"It's me, Dao, and Joong, right?"
Who did kidnap us?
What was happening there?
Was Dao dead when we were all kidnapped together?
Dunk must not waste his time. He needs to know everything, for more than ten years he never searched for anything because the memories were never coming back to him. But after what happened in that forest and in the basement, it's a sign for him to search for his forgotten memories. Because it's also related to Joong. This is so important for both of them.
So the next day, he starts his plan right away.
He already has a plan in mind when he decides to go back to this house, no one will tell him anything. That's for sure. If Auntie Pim, the only one who is nice to him, shuts his mouth, then no one will open their mouths to tell Dunk the truth. So he needs to search for it.
Dunk is roaming alone in this big house this morning. He can see that at least two of his mother's men are following him behind his back, and Dunk isn't going anywhere. He is a home prisoner but his mother's men are watching him so closely. They only leave Dunk alone when he is in his bedroom.
This is not a house, this is a prison!
Dunk stops at his mother's office door and smirks. They can't follow him inside. It's his mother's private place, they can't go inside without her consent. But Dunk can go inside, at least that woman is his mother. Dunk opens the door and closes it loudly in front of his mother's man's face.
He smiles when he hears those men cursing under their breath.
It's been so long since he entered this room.
His father and mother are so rich, they both have their own line of business. While his father is owner of one of the biggest automotive companies in this country, his mother is a famous fashion designer. They both are very successful people, together or individually . In other people's eyes, they are someone that can be looked up to. But in Dunk's eyes, they are only an ordinary person who is obsessed with their son's life and tries too hard to control it.
Dunk looks up at the ceiling and finds a CCTV at the corner of this room. He needs to act wisely. He walks toward the big desk in the center of the room and sits on the chair behind it. Maybe, he can find something if he searches for some documents or whatever in this room. He can even find Joong's background check documents here. But he won't do that, not when the CCTV is watching him closely and his mother will know everything that he does in this room.
That's not his plan.
Dunk pulls out the small wireless things from his pocket and sticks it under the table. This won't be noticed from the CCTV because he just looks like he touches the table.
He wants to hear everything that is happening in this room.
His mother may cut the internet connection whenever Dunk becomes a home prisoner, but he still has his laptop and he once bought a device like wiretap that previously had already been connected to his laptop. His mother doesn't know this, his mother doesn't know how boring his life was whenever he was locked up in this house. No communication with the outside world was driving him nuts so he really bought those things just to hear the sound from outside. Never knew it would be used for eavesdropping.
"What are you doing here, Dunk?"
Dunk gazes at his mother who just opens the door and looks at him directly. From her appearance, Dunk notes that she just came back from her yoga session.
"I'm bored, mom."
"You're looking for your phone in my room, right?" His mother accuses him right away and Dunk is only sighing. No, it's definitely not here. He knows his mother so well.
"Not really, you can check on the CCTV." Dunk points at the surveillance camera above them. "All I was doing was just sitting here while thinking about how boring my life is right now."
Dunk gets up from his position and walks toward his mother. "I'm doing a house tour if your men are asking what the hell the only son in this house is doing since early morning."
Then Dunk walks away from his mother and starts roaming around again just to deceive his mother and her men. When it's evening, he finally comes back to his room and opens his laptop right away. When he makes sure that he can hear anything that is happening in his mother's office room from his laptop, he smiles.
If no one tells him about his past, he's gonna search for it himself.
He just hopes whatever that he finds out in the future, it won't be something that can separate him from Joong.
Joong.
What is he doing right now?
I miss you like crazy.
***
Six days after his separation from Joong, something Dunk doesn't expect to come, is coming.
His sickness.
He almost forgets that he is someone that easily gets sick when he is with Joong because of how healthy he was. Now five days without seeing him, Dunk is facing a fever. His mother calls Dr. Tong checks up on his son's condition at home but Dunk insists on going to the hospital. In his mother's eyes he is so much sick so finally she gives in and allows him to go to the hospital with his men following him closely.
She doesn't follow him to the hospital and that is weird. But Dunk doesn't want to think much about it, because his body is already taking a toll on him.
He just spends his time going outside happily because he never knows when is the next time he will experience this again.
For the past six days, he hasn't remembered anything from his past. It seems like something needs to trigger him to remember something. Maybe the place?
He had never gone into the mountains for so long so he never experienced forest again. He also never went alone to the basement. Maybe the place was triggering something inside him. Where should he go to search for his memories?
Dunk doesn't know if he is ready to remember everything that was long buried but he feels the urge to know it. There is definitely something important related to Joong that he forgot. And somehow, Joong is also forgetting him.
How can they both forget each other's existence at the same time?
But this makes Dunk believe that he is fated to meet Joong again, because even though their brains didn't recognize each other, the fate pulls their lives into the same point again. To meet each other again and to fall in love with each other.
Also, for the past six days, there was nothing important related to his past that was talked in his mother's office. He needs to wait patiently for this.
The examination of Dunk's condition is over in a short time and it's an usual sickness when the temperature is too high for Dunk's body. Dr. Tong gives him usual medicine and vitamins and dismisses him right away. But his mother's men ask him to stay at the hospital longer and it's so suspicious.
His mother wanted to call Dr. Tong to their house to examine his condition. She hates when Dunk is getting away from her and now she wants Dunk to not to go home faster?
That's weird.
"Go home. I want to go home." Dunk demands his mother's men and his tone of voice is absolute.
There is definitely something happening in the house.
Dunk is walking on his way when these three big men in front of him don't budge even a bit. But after reaching the parking area, they eventually followed his plan.
When he reaches home thirty minutes later, his heart almost skips a beat when he smells a hint of those sweet notes of pear, and bergamot with dark and intense woody notes.
Joong is here, or was here.
That's why he was not allowed to go home faster.
He walks inside his house and finds nothing. So he goes to his mother's office room and finds her there. She looks satisfied with something and somehow Dunk can guess it.
"What were you saying to Joong?" Dunk asks right away once his mother is looking at him.
"He has a strong scent, doesn't he?" His mother is also an omega so she can smell Joong's pheromone. She looks disgusted with something and Dunk doesn't want to ask that.
"Answer my question, mom!" Dunk can't stop the feeling of anger soaring inside him. His mother finally met Joong and he is afraid that she said something too hurtful to him. He remembered Pond in the past, he remembered how painful his mother's words were to him. He can imagine how it is to Joong.
"He searched for you." Dunk knows this.
Dunk starts to imagine Joong's state of mind right now, he is so lost until he tries to find Dunk here. He believed that Pond would keep him from going here because this place is definitely a lion's cave , but he came anyway . Joong is frustrated, and Dunk knows it. The fact that they can't communicate for the past days is killing both of them inside.
You can't imagine how deep his longing for the alpha is.
And somehow Dunk also can't imagine Joong's feelings for him right now.
But one thing for sure, they both are suffering right now.
"You can't meet him again, son." His mother talks again and Dunk looks up to her with pain reflecting from his eyes. "I will make sure of it."
"Why?" Dunk asks wearily. "Why are you doing this to me?"
His mother stands from his chair and walks to her son's direction. "Because he's not good for you, there is no way you will have a happy ending with him."
Why, why, why ?!
"Why do you say that hurtful thing to your son? Am I really your son? Why do you always treat me like this! You control my life as if it's yours, whatever i did it must be in line with what you want. Why? Why did you do this to me?" Dunk is on the verge of crying because his heart hurts so bad. Even only once, he wants his mother to try to understand his feelings and see the world in Dunk's shoes.
"Because I love you! Because I want to protect you, it's all because of that."
Dunk walks a step behind when his mother tries to reach him.
Love she said?
His mother isn't loving him. How can she love someone while torturing him every time they meet? How can she say she loves him when she's locking up him in this place and taking away his freedom?
This is definitely not love, this is obsession .
"What do you want to protect me from? What is so dangerous in this world that you need to do this to me? TELL ME!" Dunk raises his voice and sees his mother's eyes wavering in shock. Then he can see his mother's eyes getting darker and slaps him right away.
His cheek hurts, but his heart hurts the most.
"There are so many things that I need to protect you! One of them... is yourself , Dunk!"
So, this is the answer.
Dunk looks up to her once again, holding his tears and laughs. "You can't protect me from myself, mother. I started remembering my past. Joong is there, right?"
Dunk knows his mother for as long as he lives and this is the first time he sees his mother's facial face drop and her eyes show him a terrifying feeling she is feeling right now.
"How far do you remember it?" She shakingly asks. "When do you start to remember? You didn't remember anything for these past ten years, why now?" She looks like mumbling to herself rather than asking his son right now.
"I remember, me, Joong, and Dao were kidnapped by someone. Who was that person who kidnaped us? What was happening there? Why were there only two of us who are still living now? And both of us lost our memories. What was happening?!" These puzzle pieces start to show him a clear picture and Dunk is afraid of it yet he still wants to know everything that is his .
His memories are his and Joong's, so he needs to search for it.
His mother's eyes get bigger and she finally looks at her son again and her face is showing Dunk so many things at the same time. But most of it is a terrifying feeling.
"No. Your mind is lying to you. Nothing happened in your past." She reaches Dunk's hand and drags him to get out of her office. "Go back to your room, I will call Dr. Tong to make a full check up of your body tomorrow."
"Seeing your reaction makes me want to fully remember my past. You can't do anything to stop that, the same way you can't do anything to separate me and Joong if we are both fated to meet again." Dunk declares what he wants to say and his mother stops his way just to look at his son's eyes daringly.
"Are you sure you can handle the pain from your past? Are you sure Joong can handle that? "
His mother releases his hand from his and stops walking.
"Son, I'm not lying when I told you that I was protecting you all this time. You don't want to remember it , believe me, it's better if you just forget everything." His mother for the first time looks so fragile, the independent and strong woman he always sees all his life is not present in front of him and Dunk feels something he never felt before for his mother.
"Was Dao's death too painful, mom?"
His mother doesn't reply to his question but Dunk knows the answer.
Yes.
Dao's death was too painful for her and for everyone in this house, except for Dunk.
Because he doesn't remember his past.
The sky turns dark again and Dunk can't sleep. He can't sleep and eat well these past days and he knows exactly why.
All the uneasy, confusing feelings are overwhelming him. He feels so restless and powerless.
Dunk opens his room's door and walks with his laptop in his hand to one of the rooms he has never visited for so long.
Dao's room.
His mother also never really touches this room, she only commands her worker to just clean it up everyday without really changing anything inside. When Dunk reaches there, his heart beats so fast. It feels like he will meet Dao again after thirteen years.
He opens the door slowly and what he sees in front of him breaks his heart.
Dao loved white and black color so even though he was a kid back then, this room was decorated to suit his tastes. So different from Dunk's cheerful tone of room.
His bed is still a kid's bed, there are still so many children's toys on every corner of this room, most of them are robots and cars because Dao loved to play with them. Dunk opens the obsolete cupboard and seeing his brother's clothes are still there, his mother definitely washes it every month even though no one used that. It looks so worn because these clothes have already been here for thirteen years. At the desk, he can see so many books there. Most of it is an astrology book because Dao loved to read about things above them even since he was a kid.
Dunk sits at the bed and takes a deep breath.
The concept of time isn't working in this room because it was stuck when Dao left this room forever, thirteen years ago. Everything looks and feels like when Dunk was still ten years old. His heart suddenly aches in his ribcage and the way the pain starts to creep from his deepest heart makes it hard to breathe.
Why did I hate him so much back then?
He should be the one who hates me.
Because Dunk is still here, and Dao is no longer here.
Dunk still has a chance to keep living, to fall in love, to meet a good friend, to experience so many things even though his parents are always hurting him in some ways, but he can experience the happiness, the pain, everything. And it's all because he is still breathing . But Dao's life comes to a full stop at the age of ten.
If God must choose between two of them, why did He choose Dao to go back to Him instead of Dunk?
Before his long lost memories start knocking on his life, why did he never once try to search for the truth of Dao's death? Why when his parents said that Dao's death was due to sickness, even though he never fully believed it, he never asked more?
Dunk is wrong for this and he comes to realize it late.
"Dao, if you are still here, is our relationship getting better than when we were kids?"
Dunk still remembers all the jealous feelings he had for Dao because of the love his parents always gave to him but not to him. All the spotlight, the care, was only given to Dao. And because he's no longer here, now it comes to Dunk. But Dunk still hates it, because it feels like he's only a substitute for Dao's non-existence.
But still....
It starts to feel like Dunk is a villain here.
Everything he feels seems wrong.
He lays his back on Dao's bed and closes his eyes.
He feels like he needs to say sorry a lot for his late brother. For everything that he had done, for everything he remembered and for everything he still hasn't remember yet.
Dunk opens his laptop and his wireless earphone because he can't sleep. He will listen to everything that is happening in his mother's office today in recording version because he hadn't do anything today since it was too hectic with his sickness and Joong's appearance on this house.
Joong.
What is he doing right now?
Can he sleep tonight?
Can he eat well?
I hope he won't miss me too much and that will disturb his life.
Let him miss his alpha alone.
"What? He can't be sick and dead just like that. He needs to suffer and rot in prison at least until I'm no longer alive in this world."
Dunk opens his eyes and straights up his position. Who is his mother talking to?
"He kidnaped my sons and took one of my son's lives away, he deserves all the suffering. I will make sure to torture him more, connect me with the chief."
Someone who was kidnapping him and Dao is still alive? He was imprisoned.
Dunk curses at his breath when he tries to google something on his laptop.
No internet connection, damn it!
But there was never any news about it either on the internet so all the time he never suspected anything. If the Boonprasert's children were getting kidnaped, the news would be blown up in this country and everyone would know about it. Dunk won't survive his school days here peacefully. But no one ever talked about it. So the possibility of his parents covering all the news related to the kidnaping is high.
But the question is... why?
"Hello, Mr. Kittisak Suppangkorn, how are you doing?"
Kittisak Suppangkorn is the name of the chief officer that his mother tries to call, right?
He needs Auntie Pim right now. He needs a cell phone.
Dunk finds Auntie Pim in her room, but she's already sleeping. This might be so impolite but he badly needs an internet connection right now so he takes his auntie's phone in the bedside table and opens it. His nanny never makes any password to her phone and Dunk knows it. He fastly go into the internet browser and searches for some keywords.
Chief of police.
Kittisak Suppangkorn.
Cases.
He scrolls for so long because this man is a very successful police officer with a good track record on his history but one title intrigues him. It was news from a non famous journalist related to a kidnapping case of a wealthy family, the name of the police officer was mentioned there. The article didn't mention any of the victim's name and the wealthy families related but Dunk is pretty sure it was his case. Because there were two families included in the article, it's his and Joong's, right? And the kidnapping was happening in the deep forest under the mountain.
It all clicks perfectly.
So the place really triggered his memories to come back to him.
The forest, where he was kidnapped.
And the basement, where he was locked for ten days.
The article also confirms his memories that it needs ten freaking days for the victims to run away from the kidnapper. The article didn't mention who the kidnapper was but they mentioned the reason why the kidnapper did those cruel things to the kids who were innocent, he had a personal feud for both of the kids' families.
"Because of your parents' merger, I lost everything! I gave everything to your family for thirty fucking years and they sent me away just like that? I lost my job, I lost my money, I lost my family! Now it is my turn to make them feel the way I am, they need to know the pain of losing kids they love so much."
"You are only a pathetic person! Why do you do this to us? What is our fault that makes you release all your anger to us? You do this to weak children because you can't take revenge on our parents without using us, right? Our parents are too powerful and you are just a weak person."
Dao! Dao please shut your mouth or he will become more angry!
"Ha! You deserve death first, who is your name?"
"Dunk. Remember me, I won't ever bow down to you!"
It's not Dao who challenged him, it's me who made him angrier.
"Ha, the omega's one is the bravest one."
BARF BARF BARF!!!
What is this?
Why is there a sound of dogs barking?
"But I won't kill you today, it will be too easy. I need to see your desperate expression when I lock you up long enough until you all lose your mind and beg me."
BARF BARF BARF!!!
No, no.
Don't come to us!!!!
"DUNK!!!!"
He doesn't know how he ends up on the floor and wakes up Auntie Pim. Again, he loses himself again. Just like what happened in the forest and the basement.
"Dunk, son, are you okay?" Auntie Pim looks at him with so much worry in her eyes. "You are shaking hard, son, and your eyes are empty. What is it?"
She looks terrified by Dunk's condition right now and Dunk holds her hands. "Don't tell mother what you saw."
Dunk tries to breathe because he just realizes that he holds his breath for so long. He looks up to auntie Pim and looks her straight in the eyes.
"Auntie... please, give me the name of my kidnapper. He once worked in father's company, right?"
Auntie Pim remains silent as if she wants to consider so many things that will happen if she says the name to Dunk. But at the end she is defeated by Dunk's begging eyes. Dunk is really begging right now. He just wants to know everything and gets the pain all at once.
After a while, Auntie Pim wakes up from his position and walks towards her drawer. She opens it and gives Dunk a piece of paper, an old newspaper. "This was the time when you were all rescued by the police and the kidnapper got arrested. The only time it made into the media, after this news, your parents shutted all the media's mouths and bribed them to not tell anything about this case again. I won't ever throw this away because this was where everything started to fall apart. I don't know if i did a good thing to show you this, but your eyes before are just the same as the several years after Dao's death. It looked so empty it felt like Dao was taking your soul away with him."
Dunk looks down to the newspaper in his hand and the face and the name of the man who kidnaped him are there. The face is indeed familiar, Dunk feels slightly scared on the sight and he realized that sometimes his body remembers people first than his mind. This was also happening with Joong before.
His name is Korn and he was 52 years old, so he is already old enough right now.
He needs to get out of this house and visit him in the jail.
Tomorrow there will be a full examination of his body, right? Just like what his mother wished before. He will try to escape from the hospital.
He needs to find his kidnapper and asks what he did to him, Dao, and Joong thirteen years ago.
He will find the truth tomorrow.
But Dunk doesn't know, he doesn't know that not only a place will trigger his memories.
Meeting with people from his forgotten past also contributes to it.
The forest and basement were not only the factors why he suddenly remembered his past, there is one another important factor that made Dunk's forgotten memories start to knock on his door.
It's Joong.
It's the encounter with Joong Archen, someone from his past.
It's his captivating brown eyes, beautiful smile, and a contrast of light, sweet notes of pear, and bergamot with dark and intense woody notes that awaken something that was buried deeply in his mind.
So what will he know now when he is finally reuniting again with his kidnapper?
The pandora box will be opened wide to him.
And once the pandora box is opened to him, there is no way to lock it up again.
Is Dunk really ready to learn about everything from his past?
It will hurt him in a way he never expected.
To be continued
