Dunk is loved by many people.

His accident brings a lot of pain for so many.

Phuwin witnesses by himself how the world from several people get crushed by this tragedy. His parents fly back to this country as soon as they hear that their only son is facing a near-dead situation. Luckily they were in China this time, so they could be back as fast as possible. The look from his parents are extremely terrifying, it's indescribable how much horror they feel right now. Their unhealed wounds from the past coming back at them.

How it feels to lose a son.

The strong and elegant woman like Dunk's mother is once shown in front of them looking just like an ordinary mother whose life is almost at stake because she once again experiences the trauma of losing a son. She looks so devastated, broken, and most of it.. guilty . She is afraid that Dunk will soon follow Dao's step to eternity and leave her all alone in this world. All the mistreatment, the bad things she did for most of Dunk's life drown her into the world of guiltiness.

Dunk's father also looks so lost. He doesn't look like a very wealthy man who rules one of the biggest automotive's company in this country. He looks like an ordinary father who does everything in his power to save his son. He picks himself the best doctors to make Dunk come back to them.

Dunk was hitted by a random drunk woman this dawn. The woman drove her car in over 160 km/hours under the influence of alcohol and hit Dunk's car. The bump was too hard for both of the cars, the drunk woman was found dead in her car with a broken head's skull and a ruptured lung but Dunk was still breathing when the police found them. He was in a very critical condition with a heavy head injury and excessive bleeding but he was still breathing .

The surgery to save Dunk's life hasn't ended yet and it already takes fourteen hours. Everyone who is present in front of the operating room door almost can't breathe properly for that long.

Especially Joong.

He looks like he is facing death already.

The looks from his eyes are so empty and dark. He doesn't say anything, he only sits at the bench in front of the operating room while looking at the door with a blank expression. With every minute Dunk is there fighting for his life, life is taken from Joong's body.

"Joong." Pond tries to call him but he doesn't give his best friend any response, he just lowers his head low. Pond taps his shoulder softly and looks at his best friend with eyes full of sorrow.

The operation's door room finally opened after sixteen long hours, the doctor that was in there looks so exhausted. But he has a great self-composure to explain what is happening with his patient.

"Mr. and Mrs. Boonprasert." He first greets Dunk's parents and the way they look at each other, Phuwin assumes they already know for long. "We're so sorry.."

Phuwin's heart stops its one beat when he hears the way the doctor begins his explanation. The doctor with a white hair also looks so serious and there is regret painted on his face.

No way ..

"No.." Dunk's mother starts to sob.

Joong, who still sits on the bench looks more tense and his face is so pale.

"We can't save the baby."

Baby...

Phuwin closes his eyes and starts to feel guilty. He is also a part of this mess, if only he told Joong before about Dunk's pregnancy the moment he knew that Dunk was carrying his baby. Maybe, this tragedy won't happen.

Pond seems to understand how he feels right now because suddenly he feels someone hold his hands and grab it tightly.

" Baby ?"

The doctor is more shocked to know that Dunk's parents don't know about this information. "Dunk is three months pregnant."

"What?" Dunk's mother looks at Joong's direction immediately. The looks on her eyes are accusing him of something but Pond steps up to clear out the situation, because Joong freezes on his spot and only can look down to the floor. He really shuts his mouth as if he is unable to do anything except for looking down at the floor below his feet.

Phuwin never sees this side of Joong. Joong who looks so disconnected from this world as if he doesn't exist in this world anymore.

"No, mam, Joong also only knew this yesterday. He didn't know that Dunk was pregnant."

Dunk's mother wants to ask more from the way she throws her gaze to Pond but Dunk's father asks another important question here.

"How about my son?"

The doctor whose name is Doctor Pang takes a deep breath before saying anything. "His condition is very critical, even though the surgery was successful. We still need more time to monitor his condition, afraid something might happen. We also need another hour to conclude our operation. His head injury is very severe and several chest bones are broken, but fortunately no bone fragments injured his internal organs. Right now, he is still in the vegetative state. We are doing our best, but we all need to pray for his condition. We really can't promise anything."

Dunk's mother falls into his husband's embrace and starts to cry. It's the first time Phuwin sees her cry.

"Where is Joong?" He immediately asks Pond and his boyfriend follows his eyes.

"I'm gonna find him. You stay with Dunk's parents. Inform me if something happens."

Phuwin nods as a response. Both Pond and Phuwin agree that they can't let Joong alone in this situation. He is in a condition where he can't really think straight, someone needs to look out for him.

Ponds is gone for more than thirty minutes and now Phuwin is worried about him. Dunk's parents' condition, especially his mother, is still in the same state. But at least they have each other to support in this hard situation.

"Phuwin."

Dunk's father for the first time talks to him. They are all sitting on the bench right now. His wife is still crying by his side but he gives his attention to him to say something Phuwin never thought will come out from a man like him.

"Your name is Phuwin, right?"

Phuwin nods.

"Go search for Joong. We will be okay. Look out for him. He's not only almost lost a partner, but he's already lost a child in this tragedy."

And i know how it feels to lose a child, it's so fucking sorrowful and dreadful.

If only Phuwin can read Dunk's father's mind, maybe he can read a continuation of his words. Dunk's father is a very calm and composed alpha. He doesn't really show his deepest emotion, but somehow Phuwin can understand his feelings right now. He is as broken as his wife right now.

"I will find him." With that Phuwin leaves Dunk's parents in front of the operation room.

Phuwin tries to text Pond, but his soulmate doesn't give him a reply nor read his message. So, he is searching for his boyfriend and his best friend all over the hospital. After ten minutes of searching, he finds them near the smoking area in the back garden of this hospital. That place is almost empty, only Pond, Joong, and Joong's wails fill the place.

He can never imagine how broken Joong is right now until he is crying on Pond's shoulder. Phuwin stops his walk and just stands still there.

"Once again, once again I can't protect him. I can't protect anyone. I lost my baby and I'm in the situation where I can't lose Dunk anytime. I can't Pond, I can't." Joong's voice is so weak and broken, Phuwin wants to cry just from hearing the voice. "Why is it always Dunk who is always facing this? Why not me? Why is it always me who survives everything and never gets hurt?"

Phuwin doesn't agree with that statement. Even though Joong doesn't have any physical injury, can anyone say something about his mental state?

Both Phuwin and Pond finally know everything about Joong and Dunk's condition, about their past, their bonds, and also about Joong's inability to sleep without Dunk.

Isn't it already telling how injured Joong's heart was all this time?

"I'm so fucking weak, when i was a child i couldn't do anything to save Dunk and Dao. Dunk was going to the extent of giving his omega's natural ability, his future, to save me, and Dao..." Joong can't continue his words. "I can't do anything. I can't protect people I love. I'd rather die."

"Joong!" Ponds reminds him about how wrong his words are but Joong shakes his head while still crying hard.

"I once lost Dunk, when I was a kid I thought he was dead, I still remember how painful it was. It was too painful till I erased memories of him and everything that happened to us to help me continue living. But this time, if i don't co-existing in the same world as him anymore..."

Joong stops his world and Phuwin somehow knows the continuation of his words.

"I will follow him to the place he goes."

Phuwin knows that Joong is serious with his words, it's not an empty word, it's his promise. Joong may have him and Pond as his best friends, but nothing, nothing in this world can fill a big hole in his chest if Dunk really leaves him alone.

Joong will die as soon as he knows Dunk is gone.

It's a promise he makes for himself.

Phuwin closes his eyes and prays.

Dunk, please, hang on.

Please come back, at least for your parents.

And for Joong.

He won't make it if there is no you in his world.

Please come back, you and Joong both deserve a happy life after everything you went through. Please don't make this a sad ending, you both deserve a happy ending for every pain you both hold all of your life.

Where am I now?

It's an endless tunnel where he can't find the end. Dunk was already walking for so long, but he found nothing. He just feels so lost.

Is this the afterlife? Is this his punishment for lying to his partner and to lose his baby?

If this is really his punishment, he deserves it.

He stops walking for a while and touches his stomach where he could feel a growing life there before. But right now, it's empty.

He lost his and Joong's baby.

Dunk looks up and startles at his own voice. He doesn't realize he was looking down at his bare feet all this time while thinking about his baby and Joong.

"And I broke my promise to Joong too, I left him alone again." Dunk remembers Joong's smile and it pains him more. "I wanna go back to him."

"I wanna go back to my alpha too, this is the first time since we were mating that night in Germany, that i lost a connection to talk to my alpha."

Dunk raises his eyebrows. " Connection ?"

"Yeah, you and Joong both have a special connection to feel each other's feelings when you are close and my alpha and I have a special connection to always be able to talk and meet each other in the dimension we both only know."

Even though Dunk realizes (he knows it's late) that his inner omega is also part of him, he can't help to feel jealousy over his inner omega and Joong's inner alpha ability. It's a very special thing.

"You don't need to feel jealousy. It all happened because our souls are connected with each other." His inner omega tries to explain while hiding his smile. Dunk is cute, why is he feeling jealous of himself?

Dunk looks like he is thinking about something and when he reaches his conclusion he looks up again to see his inner omega directly.

"If it's true, then I believe our souls are still connected with each other and we can call and feel them somehow."

His inner omega shakes his head. "I can't call him."

Dunk closes his eyes. He tries to feel something, but he can't also feel Joong right now. He can imagine how broken Joong is right now, but can't feel it.

"Maybe our signal is weak, we need to keep moving and searching for the end of this tunnel that brings us back to life." Dunk says something again.

"Signal? You really think our connection is just like an internet connection?" His inner omega can't hold himself and laughs and Dunk rolls his eyes.

It's been seven days since the car accident and Dunk is not waking up yet. He is still in the same vegetative state. Joong, also with Dunk's parents and his best friends, are still waiting patiently in the hospital.

One shocking thing happened though, Joong's parents suddenly flew back to their country and met him at the hospital. They somehow heard about Dunk's car accident and about.. the baby.

Joong's mother is here meeting him with regret showing on her beautiful face. Phuwin told her everything. Joong didn't know at what intention Phuwin did this. Maybe his own regret.

"I heard about Dunk hiding his pregnancy to you, I heard about his confusion about what he wanted and what his inner omega's wanted. I made him think that way."

It is what she says the first time when they both sit alone at the hospital garden's bench. Joong doesn't give her any responses, he doesn't feel anything towards his parents anymore. All the excitement of their sights, the expectation , are long gone. He stopped wishing them to treat him well and give him love from a long time ago.

"What do you want to say?" He says it at the end because his mother doesn't continue her words.

"I'm just sharing my thoughts for him, I didn't expect him to think much about it."

Joong wants to laugh. "You just indirectly said to me that the reason why I became an unwanted kid for you was because you thought the one who wanted my existence was your inner omega and not you? "

It's good he stopped expecting anything from this woman.

Then Joong walks away for real, he never looks back anymore. He doesn't see how his mother's face falls when she hears the things Joong said to him. It doesn't matter anymore. He keeps walking until he stops at the front door of Dunk's patient room. He senses someone walking in his direction.

"You barely eat anything these past seven days, man. Want to grab something in the hospital cafeteria?" Pond gives a worry looks and a tap on his shoulder.

Joong doesn't feel like eating.

"Dunk will hate it if one day he wakes up and sees you get a lot thinner and not handsome anymore." Pond points at his eye bag and Joong can only sigh. "You need to take your sleeping pill, how long you haven't sleeping?"

How long? Joong doesn't even remember any of it. He still can move like this is just a pure miracle. The lack of sleep, again, ruins his body. His head is hurt and he almost can't focus properly on something in front of him. This is just like what he experienced in Germany all over again. But he used to it, he is okay with every torture he feels on his body due to his inability of sleeping. Something he can't bear anymore is the pain in his heart.

And about sleeping pills..

No, he can't.

He already promised Dunk before that he won't ever take that pill again.

"I will go in." Joong totally ignores Pond's words and steps inside to the empty patient room. Dunk's parents just go back to their house first to eat and change clothes, they will go back tonight.

"Dunk." He looks up straight to Dunk's unconscious body in the patient bed, he has a lot of medical tools on his body, to support him, to make him still with him in this world. Joong's heart hurts when he sees how weak Dunk is in front of him. He looks so calm as if he's gonna leave him forever. No, it can't be. Joong was so afraid to leave Dunk alone in this hospital. He was afraid that if something happens, it could be good or bad news to him, he isn't here, next to the love of his life.

"How are you today, baby?"

Joong softly and carefully touches his hand. "When are you going to come back to me?"

It's been seven days, baby.

"I miss you so much."

Joong misses Dunk's smile, Dunk's deep voice, he misses his touch, he misses how he laughs and the excitement in his eyes whenever he finds something that interests him like a good movie or a good book. He misses him so much even though Dunk is still here.

Dunk isn't replying, he can't. At times like this, usually when Dunk isn't replying to his question, Joong can feel his emotion to know his answer.

He misses feeling him.

Why can't he feel him right now? Dunk's body is here but Joong can't feel him.

He heard somewhere that people in coma can hear and feel things, they just can't give any responses.

But why is it so calm as if Dunk isn't here?

Maybe his soul isn't here all this time.

His inner alpha suddenly speaks and makes Joong realize something.

What if all this time, Dunk was waiting for Joong to search for him. What if he can't find a way to go back, what if his soul was trapped in something that he can't find a way just by himself. Pond is definitely confused when Joong asks to drive him to go to several places.

First, he goes to his and Dunk's favorite restaurant. That Vietnamesse's restaurant near their apartment. When they arrive there, Joong immediately asks his inner alpha to call Dunk's inner omega while Joong tries to feel Dunk. Pond looks at him with a questionable look when Joong only closes his eyes when they are sitting in one of the tables at the back of this restaurant. Pond orders two bowls of phos for them while waiting for Joong to say something.

"He's not here."

"Huh?"

"Dunk is not here." He says with a serious face and looks like he wants to go from this restaurant. The waiter just places their bowls in front of them. Can they eat first?

"Dunk is in the hospital." Pond says something that is a fact for both of them.

"His body is there, but his soul isn't there. I'm searching for it."

"What?"

"I'll explain later, let's go Pond."

Joong walks out first, leaving Pond and his bowl of Pho alone. Sad, he wants to eat. Pond sighs and leaves some cash money on their table and follows Joong to his car.

The next place is their apartment. The place they were together the most.

But..Dunk is also not there.

Where are you, Dunk?

Then, can it be the place they first meet? It is a very special place for them. Dunk also made a promise to him not to leave him alone when they have their date with a concept of even if the world ends tomorrow, in that place.

"My home, please drive me there."

The treehouse is here, still in the same condition as when they leave it in another time. The treehouse without a roof. But Dunk is not here. Joong can't feel him there. His inner alpha also still can't call Dunk's inner omega.

"Joong, what is it?" Pond asks him right away the moment he finally can climb this tree house.

"I visited all the special places for me and Dunk to search for his soul. I don't know how to explain it in a very logical way to you, but I assume maybe you can do this with Phuwin too since you both mated already. My soul and Dunk's soul are somehow connected."

Pond looks at him with a serious face. "You can feel him?"

Joong nods. "Yes, and my inner alpha can contact his inner omega how far we physically separate. But after the accident, we can't feel nor call them."

Joong doesn't expect Pond will quickly understand him. So the assumption he made before is right. "You can do this to Phuwin also, right?"

Pond shakes his head. "Not exactly like yours and Dunk, but I and Phuwin also share some unexplainable things like that too."

It's not the right time to get curious but Joong can't stop himself from asking. "What is that?"

But this sly Pond is only smirking at him and not answering his question. Damn it, now Joong is curious.

"This is the only a stupid thing I can think of, friend. If Dunk is the near death situation." Pond talks again, changing the subject from his and Phuwin's special ability.

"Please don't say that."

"Listen to me, first."

"Ok, go on."

Pond sighs. "If someone is dead, I heard that his soul will be lifted up to the sky and they will go to hell or heaven that is placed above us. Dunk isn't dead yet but you said that his soul isn't here anymore, maybe, his soul... is in the place... above ? Ok, this is totally nonsense."

That's not totally nonsense.

Maybe Joong can feel him or his inner alpha can contact his inner omega if he searches for him in a higher place than they usually are. When he remembers about a high place he suddenly remembers what Dunk said to him before.

"I wanna go to the amusement park with you, we're gonna ride a lot of fun rides and then when it starts to get darker, I want us to ride the ferris wheel. When it's the exact time when the sun is saying goodbye to us, the last goodbye, I want us to be at the top of the ferris wheel to witness that."

"It must be so beautiful."

"Yeah, we must witness that on our last day in this world."

Joong looks at the sky and the sunset is coming for him soon, in less than an hour. Perhaps?

I can't find a way out.

Dunk is so frustrated, he's been walking for so long, it feels like eternity but he really can't find the end of this tunnel. It feels like he is trapped in the same place over and over again. He is so frustrated and he feels his body becoming weaker and weaker by any minute he is trapped in this tunnel. It feels like he can fade soon if he can't find the end of this tunnel as fast as possible.

Is he really going to die?

But he doesn't want to live Joong alone in that world.

Remembering Joong makes him drag his feet with his limited power once again. He must find a way out. When he desperately asks for a way out, he finds an intersection he hasn't encountered before. He can go left, or right. He needs to choose.

Why does he always end up in this kind of situation? Why does he always need to choose something he doesn't know the answer to?

He asks his inner omega but he also doesn't know the answer.

"Ok, we can go to the right. If it's the wrong way, we can go back and choose the left side."

"Why are you coming here this fast, little brother?"

Dunk can't say anything, he is too speechless with what is present in front of him. All this time he always wanted to have a chance to meet with Dao one more time. He wanted to talk to him, to say sorry, and to say how much he also loved him as a brother.

He really can meet him again, if he's dead. So, all this time he is trapped here, he is dead already. It's all meaningless.

"No, you aren't dead yet." Dao explains and walks closer. "You will be dead if you walk over that place." Dao directs his eye to the dark place behind Dunk, the right side of the intersection.

"Dao..." Dunk calls him, his name sounds so lovely in his mouth.

"Yes?"

"I miss you and I'm sorry." Dunk knows that he didn't really do much physical affection to his brother when they were a kid, but right now, he really wants to hug his brother. So he does that, he runs toward his direction and hugs him tight.

Dao is laughing and hugs him back. "I never imagined that my grumpy little brother would hug me like this."

"I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, because of me you need to die at a very young age, i'm sorry for living alone without you. I'm sorry, I have so many sins to you, I can't even beg for your forgiveness."

Dao pulls out from the hug and looks Dunk straight in the eyes. He wants to convey the feeling he has for his little brother, directly , for the first time and the last time.

Dao touches Dunk's shoulder and gives his best smile.

"Because I was given this chance to talk to you directly, so i want to say this, my hope for you is to see you happy with Joong. I want to see you two grow older together, maybe if both of you want, raising kids together, having five dogs or whatever, as long as you two are happy and accompany each other until you both have a white hair. I can be the happiest person alive, ugh wrong, not alive, however, if you live happily, i'm also happy with you from this high place."

Dunk wants to cry. He can feel the sincerity from his brother and this time, he doesn't need to say how much he loved Dunk, he can feel it. He can feel the deep and abiding love his brother has for him.

"How can I go back? I lost here for so long." Dunk asks the important question here.

"Take the other road and open your heart, maybe you can hear Joong is calling for you."

Joong is up there, at the top of the ferris wheel, he is looking at the last ray of sunshine spreading its magnificent beauty in this horizon. Joong feels his phone is ringing in his pocket, he looks for it for a moment, afraid if it's a call from the hospital.

And he was right.

Phuwin calls him.

Joong pulls up the call and Phuwin is immediately screaming at him.

Phuwin is screaming, what a rare occasion.

"JOONG! DUNK IS AWAKE!"

The sun is setting down, everything is turning into a darker side but after seven days long Joong finally can breathe again.

"Promise me, Dunk, promise me that you won't ever walk away from my life again. The future is unknown, I know. But please, stay by my side."

"I promise, Joong."

Dunk is still keeping his promise with him.

He won't ever leave Joong alone again.
