Chap 3: You're so beautiful today

The welcoming party for the new students yesterday made Harry quickly fall asleep on his first day at Hogwarts.

- What a wonderful place! - He admitted to himself that he had never enjoyed such a large and delicious meal.

How smooth the four-poster bed with the crimson velvet curtain of Harry was. He took a long nap in the warm blanket, allowing himself to savor the happiness that his new life brought at this magical magic school.

Perhaps the food last night had caused his mind to become dull, or was it because the long journey on the Hogwarts bullet train made his body so exhausted that he wanted to go to bed quickly and forget about it? setting an alarm on his small iron clock. Unfortunately for him, the first two lessons of today were the potion lesson with Professor Snape.

But Harry was still intoxicated and asleep, certainly not notice what happen, until he felt a gentle hand shake his body:

- Harry, Harry! Wake up if you do not want to be late for 2 potion classes with an empty stomach.

The sound of Hermione urging him still echoed throughout the Gryffindor bedroom. Harry sat up, stretched, yawned. He was still clinging to that warm blanket too. It's been a long time since Harry had such a good night's sleep and it was a waste to get up early. But it couldn't be helped, today was the first lesson, he had to be on time anyway.

- I woke up early to read today's lesson so I wouldn't be surprised. Well, I heard that the potion master is Snape, who he is famous for being the least favorite in this school. Not only that, he is especially unpleasant to our Gryffindor.

- Hermione, you know so much!

Harry arranged his books and spoke in an admiring voice. His heart silently thanked her. Without Hermione waking up, it was unknown when he would awake.

- Thanks.

Hermione smiled at him. Then she turned away, her acting like she was fixing a lock of hair, avoiding his gaze. Hermione is beautiful today. Her brown eyes glittered before the rays of sunlight outside the window.

- Harry, why are you looking at me all the time? Is my face sticky something? - Hermione smiled.

- Well, um - Harry smiled awkwardly in response to her, then immediately turned to another conversation - Yeah, I think we should go, if it is fast, we can eat something in the hall before class.

- Yes, that's right. And I also hope we are lucky today on the right track. The Hogwarts structure is like a matrix, there are 142 stairs, if you don't already know.

Hermione continued talking as the two of them left the common room. However, at this moment, Harry could not have any mood to answer her, he just hummed a few hours in his mouth. The prying eyes and the murmur of the students were directed at him. Harry feels hisself like a rare animal on display at the zoo. This made him very confused and annoyed. He just wished that the people stopped talking so he could focus on talking to Hermione and finding his way to the hall.

- You know, there are many things we must learn when we come here. I am afraid that time will not allow us to rest a little bit, until you get used to and mastered everything. Um, Harry? Harry! Did you hear what I said just now?

- Um ...

- Why is that sound so strange? Or do you could not concentrate to the topic meanwhile everyone's eyes and the murmurs around us?

- ...

- Well, Harry, I know. I've noticed since we left the common room. That's why I said that much. Just don't care them too much, they don't know anything at all.

- Yes, thank you.

It turns out she knows, and is trying to get Harry out of the uncomfortable thought of the gossip about everyone. He suddenly found his heart surges with a greatful feeling for this girl. She was Harry's first friend and the one who told him things in this new and strange place. Hermione also cared for him, and she was willing to befriended him , despite the gossip out there.

The murmur was louder when the two of them stepped into the hall. Harry glanced around the vast hall. On the other side is the Slytherin table row. They screamed and whistled loudly when they realized Harry and Hermione were passing by. Standing out in the Slytherin crowd, Harry recognized a familiar face. Draco Malfoy was sitting among the girls.

Seeing Harry walk into the hall, Draco sneered, turned to whisper something to those around him, and everyone laughed. Hermione, who stood beside her, shook her head and whispered to him:

- Don't care about them. Slytherin always like that.

That made Draco Malfoy - who was watching attentively for Harry's expression, suddenly realized someone was following him. But why it's must be Hermione Granger? Maybe their relationship has progressed so fast. Draco's smiling face suddenly turned pale. Even so, he still tried to be normal in front of the girls around.

This Draco Malfoy cannot lose to a scar boy. Especially with her, it is impossible. Dark gray eyes stared at the Gryffindor table where Harry and Hermione were reuniting with the others and laughing happily.

Harry had expected the potion lesson could make him happier. But it was wrong, extremely wrong. He praying for Professor Snape to be kind to him is just as hard as Harry is to be appointed minister of magic right now. The potion classroom is located in a basement of the castle. It was dark, damp inside , and Harry froze his spine when he entered the classroom. Hermione and he chose a small table in the corner of the classroom, making sure the two of them could see the board clearly - at Hermione's own will, but it was still difficult for the teacher to notice.

However, he probably didn't need to sit in the corner to do anything, because Professor Snape as soon as he entered the classroom rolled his eyes around the classroom, not missing any corner. His eyes were black, cold, and empty. Then he stopped at Harry and Hermione's table and stared at the boy, causing the scar on his forehead to hurt again. Snape's thin lips seemed to curve slightly:

- Well, Harry Potter, a new name. It has been eleven years since the day you lived under the curse of death. How touched! Are you hiding a power greater than the Dark Lord and waiting to reveal? So what is the reason brought you to this small school? Flaunt your popularity?

Snape's voice was loud. It was not loud, only slightly louder than a whisper, but enough to made Harry anxious. Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle sat on the other end of the room, smirking. And Pansy Parkinson whistled mockingly. Harry opened his mouth to try to argue when Hermione nudged him and whispered:

- The best you should obey Snape. Last night, Lavender told me that he would punish anyone about the points just as soon as he had the chance. So don't let him make you mad.

Hermione gripped Harry's hand under the table to keep him calm. The soft touch from a hand of the girl made Harry immediately quell his anger. For a moment, Harry felt that Hermione was a wonderful woman. But before he could enjoy the little joy, his name was called again:

- Harry Potter, there's a little question, don't you mind showing your talents to the whole class?

Snape said, and the Slytherins laughed at each other. Without allowing Harry to open his mouth, he continued:

- You have read the book right? Oh, no, Harry Potter doesn't need reading, does he? So, tell me what is wolfsbane Indicate the main ingredient to prepare it. Very simple for a famous name, right?

Snape ends the sentence with sarcasm. Hermione turned to Harry, saw that he was faltering and whispered the answer behind her book:

- Harry, Harry, listen to me, the wolfsbane is a herbal that reduces the effectiveness of werewolves invented by Damocles sometime before 1993. The main ingredient is the Aconite, also known as the Wolfsbane and the Monkshood.

Harry was deeply confused at the time but still tried his best to repeat what Hermione told him most accurately, or at least he thought so. Harry finished his reply, resolutely looking into Snape's empty eyes, although that made his scar burn slightly. Snape frowned, thin lips curled up in contempt:

- Potter, I must say that your answer is correct , as read from the book. Your girlfriend's really talent, Miss Granger's recitation ability is also very excellent. But unfortunately, this is like copying. Deduct 5 points for the Gryffindor.

The Slytherins who had heard it were giggling, only Malfoy was not. What? Granger's girlfriend? Harry Potter? I won't let that happen. In the heart of that silver-haired boy aroused a great hatred for the "Boy surviving". As for Harry, his face was hotter and redder than ever. It is not clear whether shame or feeling angry, which is more. But Hermione, who sat next to him, didn't say anything, and she hid her face behind the brand-new book "A Thousand Herbal and Mold in Magic".

- All of you silent. And for Potter, I think maybe there should be a small change, just let you know how to move on your own, and get rid of the habit of relying on girl. Switch to sit next to Malfoy for me.

Snape spoke the last word as sweet as he can, but Harry is angry now. He opened his mouth to try to argue. But Hermione held his hand again, whispering:

- Harry, go over there. Malfoy won't dare to do anything. But if it does anything, then you will have an excuse to give it a good battle. For Merlin, refrain, Harry.

Harry had to let her know that he understood, pitying his books and stuff over to the table where Malfoy was sitting. Crabbe moved to sit with Hermione. But Harry was not the only one annoyed with the arrangement, neither was Malfoy. He felt mixed feelings, a little bit regretful for letting Crabbe sit next to the brown-haired girl rather than him, and felt angry at having to do his first practice with Harry Potter.

Snape instructed them to concoct a poison that Harry judged to be very difficult, even in the first lesson, without any instructions except the formula in the textbook. Moreover, Malfoy refused to cooperate with him. He divided the ingredients in half, so that each person could make his own product. But that would not upset Harry. While Goyle going up to submit his product, he accidentally dropped a few pills on the floor. It reacted to one of Harry's ingredients and started to burning. And it was obvious that Goyle himself did not anticipate this. Immediately after that, he jumped backwards, knocking down the Millicent's cauldron that made her howl in anger. The chaos immediately caught Snape's eye, he swung his wand to clean up the rubble, and said angrily:

- Potter, do you think you're too good not to need the help from Malfoy anymore so request to split the ingredients in two, to prove your ability? And then you deliberately mistook the ingredients, to create this little fire, and then blamed my Slytherin students. Don't think I don't know Potter. The Gryffindor will lose another 10 points from this, and you will be subject to detention. You must feel honored to be able to visit my office on the first day of school.

This was too absurd, so Harry can't stand it anymore, no matter what Hermione said before. But before he could say anything, Hermione's arm went up from the other side of the classroom. This surprised Harry so much that he always forgot he was angry:

- Sir ...

- Oh, you have an idea Granger? - Snape frowned.

- As far as I know, in the materials used to process this kind of poison, none of them have the potential to cause such a fire. That's why you cannot blame Harry for the reason that he put wrong ingredients that caused this chaos.

Hermione ended with a growing confidence on her face when she saw Snape angry but speechless. The Gryffindor students also said:

- Yes, teacher.

- You can't deduct Harry points.

- Quiet for me.

Feeling unable to avoid it, Snape said, his thin lips still curled in contempt:

- Looks like your girlfriend saved you one more time; What a worthy reason. But how do we know it doesn't add anything else ...

- I don't ...

- When I say you are not allowed to interrupt, Potter. So, since there's no clear evidence, I'll still deduct points.

- No clear evidence, you can not deduct points - Hermione continues to raise his hand - If you are not clear I am afraid that I will be forced to report this to the head of my house.

This reason of Hermione probably caused Snape to suffer. He pursed his lips tightly, his sharp gaze for Hermione then turned to speak to Harry:

- Well, this time for luck, I will only deduct 5 points from Gryfffindor. And the detention, unfortunately, you still have to perform.

Harry, still warm, but he turned to wink at Hermione, as a thanks to her. Hermione has helped him out of so much trouble. And it seemed that Harry had a warm glow in his heart as Hermione smiled back at him. Her innocent smile made him feel extremely excited.
