WHAT THE FUCK DO WE DO

I looked up at Levi who had whirled around to face me, his features clouded by an expression I could only describe as a mix between horror and 'i-told-you-so.'

IT WASN'T MY FAULT

IT WAS YOURS

TYPICAL MAN

"Is there someone there?" The second voice, probably Farlan, called out from the otherside of the wall.

"I certainly hope not," Kuchel chuckled, her voice getting closer.

they're going to open that door

fuck-

what should we do?

I frowned at Levi- gesturing for him to do something.

USELESS!!

"One minute Farlan," from the other side of the wall I could hear a sound like a painting being moved, followed by a sudden influx of light.

fuck

we only have a few more seconds-

should i run?

I looked back at Levi- his previous horror now completely replaced by what looked like pure loathing.

directed at me

it's not necessarily an unfamiliar sight-

but now isn't the time

"This is so fucking stupid-" I whispered under my breath, reaching for the necklace I had stowed in my pocket, "thank me later."

"What the fuck are you doing-" he whispered back, glancing between me and the rapidly moving painting.

saving your ass

"Disappear," I murmured, forcing the two of us against the wall as I clasped the necklace around the both of us.

i hope to god this works on more than one person

don't think too much about the logistics of putting a necklace around TWO heads

this reads like extremely shitty fanfic-

"Did you hear something?" Kuchel peered through the door frame, staring right through us.

THANK GOD

"I thought so-" Farlan joined her, "Levi wouldn't come through here during the day, he isn't stupid."

WOW FARLAN

I THOUGHT WE WERE FRIENDS

HOW COULD YOU DO THIS

"I could've sworn I heard talking," Kuchel frowned, continuing to stare in our direction.

my heart is beating so loud

I tore my gaze away from Kuchel, the sound and feeling of an invisible Levi's breathing on my neck an equally unbearable experience.

i should've been the bad guy and let him get found out

why am i so nice?

i'm way too nice

"Perhaps we heard Levi and Y/N talking from his office," Farlan suggested.

FARLAN REDEMPTION ARC

GET HER TO WALK AWAY

NOW, PREFERABLY

"They have been spending a lot of time there recently," Kuchel hummed, a fond smile lighting up her face.

awww

she would be the best mother in law

too bad her son is a dick

"Neither of them would admit it but they're quite similar," Farlan added, "and Y/N is quite efficient- I'm sure Levi appreciates the help."

ok farlan i think you're getting too comfortable again

i can and will kill you

levi would assist

"I wonder if she would settle into the role of Duchess," Kuchel frowned slightly, "I would hate to tear someone talented away from a position they've spent a lifetime training to inherit."

don't worry about me kuchel

for starters-

i'm not marrying your son

"Should we return to our conversation?" Farlan suggested, stepping away from the doorway.

"Right," she nodded, the painting sliding back into place, plunging Levi and I back into darkness.

i'll wait until they start speaking again-

"Appear," I whispered as quietly as I could the instant their conversation resumed.

let's get out of here-

I turned to look at Levi, almost stumbling back into the wall at how close his/my face was.

oh god-

A second passed.

Then two

The sound of a chair being dragged on the floor startled me out of my staring and I quickly unclasped the necklace putting distance between the two of us. Levi stood still for a moment, gaze boring a hole through my soul before he gestured for me to follow and continued to silently lead the way out.

at least he doesn't look like he's going to kill me-

"Finally," I breathed a sigh of relief as Levi pushed open a door, and the light of the outside world came flooding in.

it was a bit suffocating in there

"Did you have to do that?" Levi sighed, stopping for a moment to check that no one had seen us leave.

WHOA UNGRATEFUL MUCH??

"Did you want your mom to find us? You weren't doing anything about it so I rescued you-" I rolled my eyes at him, "you're supposed to say thank you."

WTF-

"Dumbass- you couldn't have put it around our wrists?" He continued to grumble.

OH WHATEVER

"I wasn't sure if it would work! Listen- I know you hate me but I can't be that bad to be close to- I mean it's your body."

"It's not that-" he protested, turning away from me.

THEN WHAT IS IT?

"That's such a stupid response, you know that," I glared at him, "I should be upset at you for stepping on that creaky ass floor board."

"Isn't it way fucking weirder if I don't say anything about it?" Levi snapped, "I don't hate being fucking close to you- I hate being startled-" his expression morphed into a look of horror as the words left his mouth.

what the hell

"That isn't normal-" I backed away from him, "who are you and what did you do with Levi Ackerman?"

"That's not what I meant- you know that," he sighed, exasperated.

alright-

"I hope that's not what you meant- don't make this any weirder- I'm only just getting used to the idea of us maybe being friendly."

"Don't get too comfortable," he rolled his eyes at me, "thank you for turning us invisible. Are you happy now?"

"I would be happier if you actually meant it."

"Thank you, I mean it."

aw <3

"Don't worry about it," I shrugged, grinning.

"Do you mean that?"

"Oh my god- stop questioning my intentions and accept the fact that I felt bad for you."

"You're so out of character-" he chuckled.

"Being in this body is doing horrible things for my mental health."

"Sure, thing."

"Oh fuck off-" I paused, suddenly remembering Kuchel's conversation. "Just to be clear we are never ever getting married."

"Fucking obviously."

"I hate you."

"I hate you too."

"That's definitely a lie-" I ran to catch up with him as he started to walk towards the castle town.

"Oh fuck off."

it's ok- i think i'm lying a bit too
