"Armin said you wanted me?" Eren stood in the doorway, shooting an annoyed look at Levi who was hovering behind me.
something like that-
"Sit down-" I motioned for a chair, as Levi moved to shut the door.
"Jeez- you two seem paranoid."
uh about that
"Eren, we're close right?" I leaned forward, beaming.
"You're freaking me out-"
"Just answer the question," Levi cut in.
thanks boo
ew
seconded
"Ok-" Eren frowned, "I mean yeah- we are- I guess."
"You guess? I thought that our years of friendship meant more to you-"
"Ok fine- we are- chill out."
"Ok then- as a friend- answer me honestly-"
"Depends."
"You are seriously no help," I shook my head in exasperation, "I won't get mad, no matter your answer."
"Unconvincing."
"I won't let her get mad," Levi chimed in.
"Yeah-" Eren frowned over at him, "no offense but you're usually the reason she's mad- you aren't helping."
"Just agree," I groaned, throwing my head back.
"Alright."
"Ok- I promise I won't be mad-"
"Not helping."
"Fine," I sighed, "are you guys hiding something from me?"
a pause
"What do you mean?"
i think the silence said it all
"I was asking the group about that time when I got lost- do you remember it? They seemed weird about it."
"Why are you asking me this?" He seemed uncharacteristically unphased, "your father found you- end of story."
i mean i guess-
"Are you sure you aren't hiding something? Their responses really bothered me- I promise I wouldn't be upset- I just want to know."
"What's there to hide?" Eren shrugged, "it isn't like I was there. Maybe they were just acting like that because they were worried about you- I mean that wasn't fun for any of us."
well-
"Alright- if that's all then I guess it's fine," I glanced over at Levi who seemed to be working through something.
he is in a perpetual state of constipation
it's seriously going to fuck up my face
we should talk about it
"Is that all?"
"Yeah- hey don't tell anyone about this- I don't want to freak them out."
"Sure," Eren glanced at Levi, rolling his eyes, "I have guard duty- I'll see you later."
"Stop right there," Levi spoke up, focusing his gaze on Eren. "You're lying."
"What? Y/N he's so weird why do you keep him around-"
"We never asked about how she was found, why did you immediately jump to that?" Levi scowled, "answer, quickly."
oh
"I don't need to answer to a blind accusation," Eren spat back.
"Eren-" I implored, "answer him."
"Are you suspicious of me now?"
"No- I just-"
"You wouldn't have brought that up if someone hadn't told you about our previous conversation," Levi muttered, "you're clearly all hiding something- and talking about it. I'll admit it's a level of coordination I didn't think you would be able to pull off."
ok well that's a little mean
like they're kinda dumb but they're also a powerful group of knights
PLAY NICE LEVI
"You-" Eren protested, weakly.
"I'm not mad Eren," I murmured, reaching for him, "I just want to know the truth."
"Why?"
"I think it will help fix this," I gestured at Levi and I, "please."
"Fine," he glanced around like someone else was listening to the conversation. "But you can't repeat this, they'll kill me."
"I promise," I nodded eagerly.
"Is he going to promise?" Eren's gaze flicked over to Levi.
"Levi promise."
"I promise?"
"That was so unconfident- again," I poked him in the ribs.
"I promise."
"Much better," my attention turned back to Eren, "ok spill."
"What do you need to know?"
"Do you remember anything about how I got lost? Or who saved me?"
was it really my father?
"See-" Eren lowered his voice, "listen- none of us actually know what happened- we were kids- but it doesn't make sense."
"What doesn't make sense?" Levi pressed.
"I brought you back the first time."
"The first time?"
"Maybe we should stop talking about this-"
"No, continue," I urged, racking my brain for lost memories.
"We were daring each other to run into the forest- and when you-" his voice faltered, "when you didn't return I was sent to go find you- and I did but-"
"I don't remember that at all."
"'Course not- you were unconscious."
"Just unconscious?" Levi questioned, voice tinged with concern.
why question that?
"I'm not sure- I didn't think so," Eren stared blankly at the ground, lost in memory. "You were cold too cold- but I mean- you aren't dead-"
"I don't remember any of that."
"You ok?" Levi shot me a concerned look, his hand hovering next to mine before dropping back to his side.
oh-
"I'm fine."
"Your father took you away immediately- we didn't see you for days- and then one day he left for the woods for you and when he came back everything was fine," Eren's eyes darted between Levi and I. "You have no clue how worried we all were."
"I'm sorry."
"No need to apologize," he shrugged. "No one wanted to tell you because well- there wasn't any point- what do you benefit from learning that you maybe died? None of us knew for sure and- I mean clearly you didn't-"
"Well-"
"I can't believe the two of you forced me to tell you this- there's no way it's going to help you swap back."
actually i think it does
"Levi-" I turned to him, "let's assume that I did die-"
this is starting to sound familiar-
"Something or someone brought you back- and whatever it is lives in that forest," he filled in the rest of my sentence.
and what happened right before we swapped bodies?
i think i died
no this makes me even more confident
"I have never been happier to have maybe died in my life."
"This is a disturbing reaction," Eren muttered, "are you going to explain?"
"Remember when I was younger and would tell you guys about the woman that saved me?"
"Yeah," Eren nodded.
"I think she's a real person- a researcher from over 100 years ago-"
"You sound insane."
"I know but- she was researching lifespan extension- and there isn't any record of her death-"
"I'm not a fan of bullshit theories but I think this one holds some weight," Levi nodded, "wouldn't you be able to tell if a body was dead? How would she have survived?"
"I mean- maybe it didn't get her that bad?"
"What? What got me?"
"What do you mean?" Eren frowned- "something attacked you? There was blood all over the place- I figured you were cold because of the blood loss."
"Blood loss?" This situation was becoming more confusing the more we talked about it, "where? Where was I bleeding from?"
"Your stomach," he gestured to a spot on his side. "You don't have scars?"
"No-" I shook my head, a hand moving to that place on my side, "none at all."
"That's ridiculous," Levi chuckled in disbelief.
"Alright," Eren sighed loudly, "I believe your bizarre theory- where do we start?"
good question
