"I need to-" Levi cut me off, suddenly avoiding my gaze, "I need to talk to Hanji before we leave."

"Oh- ok-" I nodded, glancing back at her, "I mean we have time."

"Yeah," he awkwardly stood in front of me for a second, "can you move?"

"Oh-" I nodded, "right, sorry."

"Don't apologize," he coughed slightly, before pushing past me.

I stood in the doorway for a second, before gathering myself and turning to look at Levi and Hanji.

i thought he would be more excited

i mean i know my body is great but-

Mr. Squid hopped off of Hanji's lap as Levi took a seat next to her, hurrying over to my side.

"He's weird isn't he?" I muttered, kneeling to pet him, "really weird."

Mr. Squid only purred in response, glancing back apathetically at the two in the dining room.

"Nerd," I whispered, scooping the cat into my arms, "he's definitely asking her for something."

not that i wasn't just doing the same

"-an interesting theory- that isn't my field of research but I'm sure I can find something on it," Hanji was excitedly flipping through a book as I re-entered the dining room.

"If you need notes we can always sneak back into the storehouse," I suggested.

i mean-

might be a LITTLE more difficult now that we've done it once

but rules have never stopped me

"There will be gaps in those notes," Hanji hummed, thinking it over, "but you're right- that would be a good place to start."

that's right- they got rid of all of hanji's research

"If you want my father to like you we probably shouldn't be looking around either," I sighed.

"Why would I need your father to like me?" Levi grumbled.

"Oh-" I paused, "I mean, I thought you wanted him to- I thought you cared about that kind of thing?"

and you're the one who wants to strike a deal with him

"Well-" Levi sighed, "you aren't wrong."

"You're so combative," I grumbled, refocusing my attention on Mr. Squid.

"Y/N-"

"Sorry if you wouldn't mind, it appears that Levi has some things he wants to discuss privately," Hanji cut Levi off, shooting me a smile. "Could you step out for a minute?"

oh- uh

"Yeah," I muttered, my eyes locked on Levi in confusion, "I can do that- just- find me when you're done."

i don't want to rot away out there

"That's weird," I muttered, as the door to the treehouse swung shut behind me. "That's weird, isn't it Mr. Squid?"

both of us have been cast out

Mr. Squid hopped out of my arms, walking down a couple steps before turning around to stare at me.

"I suppose you don't really care," I chuckled, "alright- if you don't care I wont."

this is a little ridiculous

THE Y/N L/N- worrying about Levi Ackerman?

unheard of and frankly a little nauseating

The black cat continued to stare at me impatiently.

"Ok- where to? Lead the way," I nodded at him, following as he continued down the stairs.

"I wish you could speak," I muttered, idly following behind Mr. Squid.

y/n- what are you going to say if he suddenly starts speaking ???

Mr. Squid stopped to look at me with an expression that communicated his disappointment in my question.

at the very least im certain he can understand me

"How long have you been with Hanji? I wonder if you could convince her to help me-"

or levi for that matter

"You don't look that old- then again since you live here with her that doesn't really mean anything," I mused, catching sight of my reflection in a pool of water we were passing.

its still sinking in that im back in my body

funny how to most of the world nothing has changed

but for me-

i feel like everything i know has shifted two inches to the left

"Cats don't have to deal with things like that do they?" I continued to trail after Mr. Squid, "where are you taking me?"

we've actually wandered a decent ways away from the house-

Mr. Squid meowed loudly at me in response.

im guessing that means shut the fuck up

Finally, just as I was getting a bit nervous about going any further Mr. Squid came to a stop at the edge of a large body of sparkling water.

"This is beautiful," I knelt down, scooping him up, "thank you for taking me here."

think of all the things i would have never seen had i not swapped bodies with levi

As I stood looking out over the water, something beneath the surface caught my eye.

bright

"Do you know what that is?" I muttered, bending down to peer at the small shining object that had washed up on the shore.

it looks like-

I picked it up, brushing away sand to expose a silver ring, engraved with a floral pattern, the ring was giving off a faint light.

pretty

"Levi would be interested in this," I stared at it for a second longer before pocketing it, "I'm not giving it to him until he stops being weird about everything." Mr. Squid meowed loudly as if in agreement.

i wonder whose it was originally

"Alright," I huffed, standing up again, "we should get back- they probably miss us."

and maybe-

i miss them
