A maid led me to a sitting room, leaving me outside the two large doors to collect myself before going further inside.

"Are you certain it's her?" Ymir, muttered anxiously.

"The message was extremely vague- shouldn't we just assume that it is? Why would either of them lie about that?" Historia sounded totally unphased by Ymir's concern.

"I don't know," Ymir trailed off, "maybe Levi wants something from you- it could be him- we can't be sure."

"I assure you it's me," I sighed, pushing open the doors, "and Levi wouldn't do something like that."

"Y/N," Historia beamed, gesturing for me to come sit with her on the couch.

"Get behind me Ria, I'm afraid that our friend has been possessed by a malevolent spirit," Ymir pointed her blade at me, slowly backing away.

"How could we possibly be rational?" Ymir shook her head at me.

"Listen- I hated him for the first couple weeks but," I glanced around for something to shield myself with. "He isn't everything I thought he was- I wasn't who he thought I was!"

"You thought he killed you-" Historia shook her head disapprovingly.

"I mean- it turns out that he didn't!"

"-and he's kind! He was so worried about me earlier he decided to escort me here," I could feel myself flushing at the thought of it. "It's not even that big a deal! We haven't really defined what we are yet- I just want to help him with this- and then we can sit down and figure it all out."

"YOU HAVEN'T DEFINED THE RELATIONSHIP YET?" Somehow this was more alarming than everything else.

"Well- no."

"All of those long carriage rides and hikes through an enchanted forest and you didn't define your relationship?" Ymir scoffed, "that's bullshit Y/N."

"Ymir's right," Historia nodded, collecting herself. "If you're really serious about this, and if he's really all that you're saying he is you should talk about that sooner rather than later."

there's so much going on right now

"I don't want to add more to his plate- I mean we're trying to hunt down my killer right now." I grumbled, "that's actually part of the reason why I wanted to meet you today."

"Regardless of what you've currently got going on it would be best if you discuss this sooner rather than later," Historia warned. "Especially if your plan involves attending events together."

"Alright, alright."

"I'm serious, you might not have paid attention to him but Levi has a lot of admirers- do you plan to tell them that your relationship is 'undefined'?"

"I would just lie to them."

"Alright-" she sighed, "I just think that being upfront about things now will save you the heartbreak later on. What if he doesn't see you in the same way?"

"That's ridiculous-"

"Is it?"

"Let's talk about something else," I pivoted, "we want to make a big appearance to try and draw out whoever did it."

"Then you'll be attending the ball the prince is holding I presume?"

"Exactly- I was wondering if you two would be able to help- maybe listen for any rumors or look out for anyone suspicious."

"That's easy," Ymir glanced at Historia for confirmation.

"That's right," Historia shot me a worried look, "I'm serious about confirming things with him."

"Ok ok- I will."

"I'm happy to help you, where should we start?"
