Modern! Older! Ezran x Reader

My hands were stuffed in the pockets of an oversized down-feather jacket, white fogs of breath mingling in the cold atmosphere, appearing and disappearing with every heave of my chest. Ezran was who I was waiting for, and until I saw that bobby brown afro of his, I wasn't going in to order a pastry.

"Boo!" I screamed and turned around, facing the now sheepishly grinning tan-skinned boy. I bopped him on the head a few times, and huffed.

"Screw you, Ezran! I told you not to do that!" I whined, balling up my fists. "You scare the living daylights out of me!" He chuckled and pushed his hand into my pocket, curling his cold fingers around my warm palm.

"Sorry babe," he laughed. "But you're just too adorable every time you seem to get scared." I couldn't get mad at his pink-tipped nose and flushed cheeks, his white bunny teeth blending in with the fluffy snow piled on the ground.

"Let's just go in." Ezran gripped my hand tighter, running along as I pulled him into the shop.

"What drink do you want?" I asked, looking at the menu. He licked his lips and stared at the jelly tarts sitting in the glass case.

"You know I'm going to crush one of those today. I'll maybe get two. One for Bait, and one for me. Maybe three, since I want to eat two..." While he was pondering, it was our turn.

"Hello, welcome to TeaBee, what can I get for you two?" The cashier had purple face paint and bleached white hair, pinkish skin, and the brightest violet eyes I'd ever seen. Their thick Scottish accent rang through my ears, sending a warm green image through my head.

"Can I get a cranberry pumpkin crust muffin with herbal tea, please?" I looked at Ezran, tapped his shoulder and motioned to the cashier. He set his fist on the counter and looked at her with joy-filled eyes.

"I want five jelly tarts please."

"Ezran! I thought you'd only get three! You can't inhale four tarts and only save one for Bait!" I exclaimed, crossing my arms in an amused manner. The female across from us giggled and typed up our order.

"I'll give one jelly tart on the house. For your pet," she chuckled, winking. "The total will be 18.76. Cash or credit?" Ezran slid a 20 dollar bill across the counter and smiled at me.

"My treat." I rolled my eyes and grabbed his arm.

"Thanks. But that's so cheesy." "Raya" rang up our order then left to get five bags for the five jelly tarts Ezran bought, and my muffin.

"I swear to god, your metabolism rates are so high." I watched as he chomped down on a warm pastry, jelly oozing from the side, my boyfriend's face in pure bliss.

"Oh man, this place is the best for buying these suckers," he moaned, biting all three corners. Noticing me staring, Ezran laughed and held up the bread to my face. "Want some?"

"Oh hell yeah." I bit down on the raspberry jelly filling and perked up, my tongue dancing with all the sweet flavors incorporated into the tart.

"Woah, okay, that's really good." Ezran stuck his tongue out and continued to eat the flaky pastry.

"I told you so," he bragged, eyeing the fresh muffin I pulled out of its bag. "Also, I want some of your muffin." I looked offended, pulling my muffin away.

"I thought you didn't like pumpkin spice stuff," I complained, scrunching my nose. He shrugged, ducked and bit off the cinnamon crust of the muffin.

"Well I do now," he said, voice muffled because of the delicious well baked bread in his mouth. I pretended to gag and shoved him with one arm.

"That's gross, don't talk while eating, Ezran!" I chided teasingly, giving him a peck on the cheek, sitting down at a booth. We started talking as more and more people came in, surrounding us slowly and warming up the atmosphere.

"Could I have everyone's attention for a moment, please?" I turned to the corner, where a male with dreadlocks and a dope golden ring around his head stood.

"Hello and welcome to a TeaBee story hour! I see some new faces, and a lot of familiar ones." He winked at a certain section of the audience, who whooped and raised their hands, laughing. "My name is Harrow King, and I'll be the host of today's hour. If you would gather in a circle around me." His voice had that edge on it that made me think he was a natural born leader. I looked at Ezran and shrugged, holding his hand and coming closer to the speaker.

"Alright! We have some couples in the crowd!" I cheered, making my boyfriend blush in embarrassment, the spotlight suddenly on us. I nudged him and laughed, turning my attention back to the middle aged speaker.

"Let's get to the activities!"

"That was an amazing coffee date, Ezran," I commented, pressed my lips against his cheek. "I hope we can go there every week, if we have time to."

The tanned male grinned and clasped my hands squeezing for a second.

"Yeah. I just like spending time with you. You make every normal moment that I wouldn't have enjoyed before I met you seem special." My heart skipped a beat as blood crept up my neck and spread onto my face, making my skin already more flushed than it was.

"Cheesy," I laughed, pecking his jawline and smiling. The shy male brought his shoulder up, shifting my face to his cheek. I chuckled and pulled my hands to the other side of his face, peppering kisses all over his cheek.

"That tickles," he whined, still laughing in between breaths. "Stop, stop!" I broke away, bursting with positive energy, face lifted into a great big smile.

"I love you so much, Ezran." I pushed my lips against his for a second and held his hands again. "You make me so happy." He hummed and tilted his head so it was resting on my shoulder.

"I love you too," he mumbled, closing his eyes, and continuing on the snowy trek back to our apartment.
