Chapter 4

I was think until I remembered that I was on brodcast with Bryce. I also realized that I had bruises all on my arm.

"How much evidence is this?" I asked while rolling up my sleeves to reveal my bruised covered arms.

"Well, how did they get there? We still don't know," he told me.

"Can I see your computer?" I asked him.

"What's do you need it for?" He asked me.

"I need to show you more evidence," I told him.

He nodded his head and turned the computer monitor towards me. I looked up on Google Younow. I clicked the link that lead to younow.com, I typed in my email and password. I went on my main screen and looked at my fan ofs. I clicked on Bryce's name and clicked on his brodcasts. I fast forwarded it until we got to the part where the doorbell rang. I played it for our principal and he watched it until the end.

"So this really happened?" He asked me.

At this point I had tears in my eyes, from having flashbacks to last night.

"Yes, why would I lie about something so serious?" I told him, while wiping a tear away.

He picked up his phone and called a number and asked for Bryce and Cole down to his office.

"Can I get you to step in the back room, so you can hear there stories without them knowing you're here?" He asked while pointing to the door.

I nodded my head and walked into a room that looked like a book room. It had textbooks and computer on shelves from the floor to the ceiling. I spotted a chair in the back corner and quietly pulled it to the corner by the door. I sat down and heard a door swing open in anger.

"Hello Cole, can you have a seat for me?" Our principal said.

I head someone sigh and a loud thud against the floor.

"I heard that there was a problem between you and another student and it lead into a fight outside of school. Is this true?," he said.

I looked around the room one more time, and I saw something unfamiliar. I saw a stack of books that were slightly pushed in front of the others. I quietly stood up and moved over the stack of books. I saw a little screen that showed what was happening in the room right next door. I quietly watched as Cole began to answer.

"No, sir. That isn't true. I have never done anything like that," he said while putting his hands in the air.

"Now, I'm going to ask you again. Did you or did you not abuse Claire Tompson," he said while slamming his hands on the desk.

"No, I didn't. I don't know what you want me to say," Cole snapped back.

"Cole may I see your phone?" He asked.

Cole handed his phone to the principal. He opened it and pulled up his messages. I don't know what he saw, but he turned and looked towards the camera and put a thumb up. He handed Cole back his phone and pulled up a little clip of the broadcast and showed it to Cole.

"I really messed up," Cole blurted out.

"Excuse me?" The principal said.

"I lost everything, I lost my friends, I lost my football spot and most of all I lost my whole world," Cole said while putting his head in his hands.

"What are you trying to say?" The principal asked Cole.

"I did abuse Claire, but I regret everything. Just by hitting her the first time was on accident, but after that it was kind of like an addiction. I didn't mean for it to get to this point. I never thought that I would have lost her in the very beginning," Cole said with his head still in his hands.

"Do you want to know why Claire didn't leave you sooner?" he asked.

"Yes," Cole responded softly.

"It was because she knew if she left you many things could have happened. You cold have killed her for all I know. But I want to know more about your side of this so called story," the principal said.

Cole lifted is head and said," I was on social media when I saw her Instagram followers freaking out about how her and Bryce were together. I quickly went to her house and rang her doorbell or knocked on her door, I can't really remember. She opened her door and out of anger I just started to beat her. I think she called Bryce, but I saw him quickly come out of the kitchen and we had a little fight. I didn't want to lose Claire, but at the same time I knew it would be the best option. I don't really know what happened after Bryce fought me. I'm pretty sure that she blocked me on everything like social media, and my number. So I made a new number so I could text her. Now I know that this all was a bad idea. Thinking back to how things used to be it was sunshine and rainbows, now its demons and darkness. It wasn't a good idea to date her in the first place. I knew that I was already in a bad spot at home and I wanted to keep her as safe as possible. But it failed once my parents got a divorce. My whole goal was to keep her safe, but in reality I was the one that she needed to be safe from."

I could hear the pain in his voice and that made me tear up. I couldn't believe what he just said. I just wanted to run out of the little closet and him a hug. I wanted to apologize for his actions. I knew deep down that he was sorry. But I knew that it wasn't safe for me, and I honestly don't think that I could be in a relationship without being scared for my life.

"Thank you Cole, now can you please step into the hall so I can ask Bryce his side of the story?" He asked Cole.

Cole slowly stood up and Bryce walked in, my heart dropped to my stomach because Bryce could confess his love for me. I saw Bryce sit down and pull his chair to the desk.

"May I see your phone?" The principal asked Bryce.

Bryce quickly pulled out his phone and hesitantly placed it on the desk. Our principal picked it up and unlocked it. He looked at his messages and read the ones from me during the other period. He slowly swiped reading every message carefully until he turned around and put up a peace sign. He then turned toward Bryce and handed his phone to him.

"Can you tell me about what happened last night?" The principal asked.

Bryce cleared his throat before starting," So I went to Claire's house just to hang out. We decided to go live on younow because I'm Internet famous. We heard a knock at the door and Claire went to answer it. I just thought it was a neighbor or something, so I didn't really worry about her. Mason and I continued the broadcast until I heard her scream...
