Chapter 17

The exam ended at the end of the week.

Now, everyone is satisfied and wants to play for life.

Unexpectedly, when the scores were reported, both Kiyo and Sunny were at the top of the class. As for IT, Sunny ranked first, Kiyo just behind him.

"Congratulations, Sunny." - Kiyo clapped his hands for his friend.

"Thanks. You did a great job too, Kiyo." - Sunny smiled.

Almost everyone is happy for both. Except for some members in the last rank, envy and jealousy arise from them.

After school, Kiyo called Sunny back.

"We should also reward ourselves for our work. What do you want?"

"Well..." - Sunny was a bit hesitant.
Kiyo silently waited for an answer.

"Or... go to the foothills of Kikyo. Lie on the grass and talk."

"Yeah, it's cool up there, we can relax."

Out of the classroom, they led the bike up that tall grass.

Kiyo lay down on the ground, then looked at the white clouds drifting slowly in the middle of the blue sky.

Oh, how comfortable. The air is fresh, the trees are covered with faces, the wind is blowing, it's been a long time since he has been immersed in the air like this.

Turned to Sunny, who was sitting. His eyes stared into space and were staring somewhere else far away. Perhaps he was having some thoughts swirling around in his mind.

"What's wrong, Sunny?"

"Nothing." - Sunny lay down, his hands relaxed on his stomach. Unconsciously, he rolled over, next to Kiyo.

The two were silent for a moment. They were focused on looking at the clouds with bizarre shapes up there, sometimes raising their hands as if trying to reach for something in the sky. Then just let go.

Kiyo was still lying on his side. Suddenly Sunny let out a long, clear breath, leaning into his lap.

"Oi-" - Kiyo blushed.

"I feel so lonely.." - Sunny said in a sad voice.

"What's so lonely about this?" - Kiyo didn't know the meaning behind that sentence.

"I feel lonely...at home." - His voice seemed to have something stuck in his throat.

Kiyo didn't know what to say, but pushed Sunny next to him.

He held up the other's hand, just to see how it was. It has appeared as parts of young skin. Same with Sunny's face. But from his experience, these injuries are definitely not just from the bullies, there seems to be someone else. The mark on the face is a bit like the one hit by a girl.

Notice that Sunny often wears long clothes, even in hot weather.

So maybe there are other wounds on the body, but don't want to be seen. Damn it, at such a young age, to be beaten like this.

When Kiyo looked back, Sunny had already fallen asleep. Still like the days in his house, Sunny slept peacefully, quietly, only hearing a little breathing. Probably too tired today.

Kiyo gently touched the other's cheek, it was so soft. And he kept looking at Sunny.

But don't think anything silly here while he's sleeping, I'm only in seventh grade, leave him alone.

Kiyo just let his friend sleep naturally, when needed, wake up.

.....

After a while, Sunny opened his eyes.

"Eh? Am I still here?"

Sunny noticed that Kiyo was sleeping, not sure when.

Should I wake up? It's past noon...

But looking at the sky as if it was about to rain, he had to sit up and shake Kiyo:

"Wake up, it's going to rain."

Kiyo slowly woke up, turned to look at the sky, and quickly sat up.

"Damn it, since when did I oversleep?"

"Yeah, I fell asleep too.."

Sunny looked dumbfounded to see if the bike was still there.

"Come on, hurry up." - Kiyo lifted the bag.

Carrying his bag to the bike, Sunny let Kiyo drive him home.

"Shall I take you to my house?" - Kiyo asked, pedaling quickly.

"No, I'll go by myself."

Arriving home, Kiyo let Sunny get out of the bike first, then returned to its owner.

"It's been fun today. Well, I'll be back."

Suddenly, Sunny took Kiyo's hand and held it tightly. It seemed he was giving Kiyo something more than just a handshake.

Sunny released his hand, bowed and left the house.

Kiyo opened his palm, it was a handkerchief. He looked back at his friend who was leading the bike out of this place, a little confused.

Why did Sunny give me?

Gripping the handkerchief, he felt another emotion welling up inside him. It was too complicated for him to put into words.

Maybe rational people like him aren't always emotionless and rigid, right?

So, one of Kiyo's weaknesses was actually Sunny.
