40. Lotor- What Are You Willing To Do For Power?
We were happy.
We were happy together.
He had to ruin it.
He had to strive for more quintessence.
Power.
(Flashback)
"Lotor!" I exclaimed, giddy with excitement. He turned to me, beaming.
"Yes, my love?" he asked, kissing my lips. I giggled and kissed his nose.
"I love you," I said, smiling at him. He chuckled.
"I know, my love. I love you too."
"What are you busy with today?"
"We're planning an attack on the base to retrieve the comet. You have to stay here, my darling. It's not good for the baby." He patted my round stomach.
"I know, but I want to come!"
"It's not good for you in this condition. How about when we have our child, and they're all ready to fight by themselves, you can come with me and conquer the universe."
"Mmhm!"
"Now rest, darling. I have business to take care of."
(End)
I remember seeing the bloodied ashes of my child. My child. Our child. On the battlefield.
"Mom..." he groaned, smiling weakly at me.
"No! Don't die, please Phillip!"
"I'm... Sorry..."
Nerves wracked through my body as I cried. I still remember our promise to each other.
"Will you promise to stay by my side?"
"Forever, dear."
"Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"
"Lotor! Yes! A million times yes!" I yelled happily as he slipped on the ring. He kissed me passionately, the purple glow of the control room illuminating the hall.
But that was in the past. How happy we were, fighting off others that wanted to take our place. Our lives.
How much was he willing to do for power?
For that damned quintessence.
The only person that could stop him was Voltron. Even they are gone now. Lotor destroyed everything. It was only the rebels, me, and his army.
I lost everything.
Because of him.
I wiped my tears and collected my rags, that used to be an ancient Galra dress, worn down by age.
This was no time to cry, now it was a time to fight.
I scooped up a handful of blood and smeared war streaks onto my face.
This was war.
I looked down upon the barren, red planet. It would takes thousands to defeat the emperor. I wasn't going to give up.
Voltron died for this.
Everyone that was dear to me died for this.
Axca, Narti, Zethrid, Ezor...
Phillip.
They died because of this.
There was no way in hell that I'd let him die a peaceful death.
(Timeskip)
I walked up to the throne room.
"Let me the fuck in." The guards parted once they recognized my voice. I had a billowing cloak on. One that Lotor had given me. I marched up to the throne, glaring at the "king" who sat before me.
It hurt that he was just as handsome as ever.
"What do you need?" he said absentmindedly, twiddling with the strings on his cape. Tears were flowing freely down my face.
"Guards, leave us," he ordered. They obeyed.
"Who are you?"
"You don't... You don't remember me?" I chuckled, pulling down my cloak, revealing my face. He smirked in amusement.
"Of course I remember you, darling."
"Shut your disgusting mouth, Lotor."
"Oh, is that any way to treat your husband?"
"You are not married to me."
"The last time I checked, I was."
"You killed our own son, Lotor." He went silent.
"He was just a black spot in the success of the Galra Empire." I choked.
"We were happy, together! Lotor, don't you understand? You've killed everyone dear to you! Everyone but me. So if it pleases you, kill me here and now! Our son, our dear son that you loved for half of his fucking life, was sacrificed by you! Afterall, we're just black spots in the Galra empire!" I shouted, fully sobbing by now. My chest was heaving up and down, tears flowing quickly out of my eyes.
"Kill me!"
"(Y/-"
"KILL. ME. LOTOR."
"N-"
"Just do it! I don't care anymore! I have nothing to live for!" Lotor shuddered, standing up from his throne.
"Listen here-"
"Please! I loved you Lotor! Do me one last favor so I can see all my friends again! I can finally be happy!" I saw as the Galran king started to cry.
"(Y/N)... I-I..." he whispered, clutching the edges of his robe, "I..." I felt my courage breaking. I hated seeing him like this. I loved him. I couldn't bring myself to hate a person who brought so much happiness into my life.
"Can we... Do the universe one last thing..." he muttered walking up to me, "And just get rid of ourselves?" He stretched a hand out and I took it.
"I will never forgive you, Lotor." He chuckled and kissed my head. His lips felt so right against my skin.
"Love is a complicated thing."
"Unrequited Love, Lotor." He unsheathed his sword, and held it at both of our chests.
"One last time." Lotor plunged the blade into our hearts as our lips pressed together one last time. I wrapped my arms around his neck with the last of my strength as he pressed his armor clad body to mine. He pulled the sword out, evicting a cry from both of us.
"Lotor..." I whispered.
"Yes... Love?"
"I still love you."
"I love you too... I hope you can forgive me... In another life."
(Timeskip 24 years later)
(Y/N) was happily bouncing in a field of daises on the planet Diabazal, when she spotted another kid, sitting alone under a tree.
"Hey!" she said happily, "What're you doing here alone?"
"My dad... He died..." the boy gulped, wiping tears from his eyes. She frowned and placed a flower crown on his head.
"I'm sorry..." she whispered, hugging his tiny body, "Is there anything I can do to help?"
"Sit here with me."
"Okay!"
They both sat under the purple tree until the sky turned red.
"I forgot to ask, what's your name?"
"Lotor."
"Nice to meet you Lotor."
