Runner-up: "Just A Dream, Keith x Reader" By: VGTrashie, Edited By: MariChat4LifeBrah (Longshot!) (2000+ words!)
Keith stared at the sunset, holding his love right by his side. "It's a pretty sunset isn't it?" She smiled looking to the sunset in front of them.
"Yeah, not as beautiful as you though." Keith smiled as he stroked a strand of her (h/c) hair. She giggled lightly.
"I don't remember you being the cheesy type, my love." She looked into Keith's purple eyes. The two shared a laugh. "Well either way, it's not that I don't like it!" She pecked his lips.
"Well maybe I'll be cheesy more often." Keith looked back at the sky. "Where do you see us in the future?" he asked curiously, making himself nervous about what she would say.
"Oh why do you ask?" She tilted her head.
"Just curious.." He rubbed the back of his neck, laughing nervously.
"Oh I see." She snuggled closer to Keith. "If I'm honest I want to go as far as we can. I love you, and for the four years we've been together it's been amazing. I honestly wouldn't mind getting married to you, maybe after a year or two have a kid." She closed her eyes and smiled. Keith looked at her, a shocked expression covered his face.
"Wait are you serious?" She looked at him, her (e/c) showing sincerity.
"Of course I'm serious silly! You sir, are the love of my life!" She moved to sit on his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck. "You have my heart in your hands already, I'm all yours." She closed the space in between them, kissing him passionately. Keith smiled into the kiss, gladly kissing back.

As his eyes fluttered open to see his arms were empty. The arms that not too long ago was hugging his world, Yet only in a dream. He sat up in his bed, moving his knees to his face. Tears began to trickle down his face. "Why am I such an idiot... I never got to ask." It seemed like forever to him since he has seen her, and it hurt him.
This girl was the only reason he wanted to return to earth, the love of his life waited for him. "I wonder if she hates me... Maybe she thinks I abandoned her." He only dug his head deeper. His silent crying was interrupted by a knock on the door. He quickly wiped the tears and opened the door.
"Hey Keith, you alright?" Shiro smiled at him.
"Y-Yeah! I'm fine, what do you need?"
"Well Allura has some special new for us and wanted us to meet in the control room. So get ready and meet us there, okay?"
"Yeah, I'll see you there!" Keith closed the door, sighing in relief that he didn't say anything personal. After recollecting his thoughts, he went to get ready for the day.

(Y/n) sat at a Cafe looking out the window, She couldn't stop thinking about her dream from last night. It was about Keith, Keith Kogane, The one guy that stole her heart. It's been forever since she had talked to him. Shit, she didn't even know if he was still alive. He just disappeared, not a single word was said. Her thoughts were soon interrupted.
"Hello! Earth to (y/n)! Come in!!"
Celestia waved her hand in front of (y/n)'s face, "What do you want?"
"Are you thinking about him again? The guy who abandoned you?" (y/n) rolled her eyes. "Why don't you look for a new guy already!"
"Its not that easy Celestia..." An apparent frown, as she quivered. "I-I know he didn't abandon me... I know him, he's out there looking for me." Small streams of tears ran down her face.
Celestia took (y/n)'s shoulders into her hands, "(Y/n), Honey, Its been a full year and you haven't heard a single thing from him. He knows where you live, he could of sent you something at anytime."
"I know he misses me, he would never abandon me.." (y/n) stood up from her table and ran away.
"Hey! Wait!" Celestia tried to follow but she was already gone. (Y/n) ran and kept running till they stopped in the middle of a nearby park. Tears streamed down her face, the possibilities of what her lover might be doing ran through her mind like wildfire.
She sat next to a tree pondering for quite awhile. Then she had an idea to visit a place she hadn't been to in so long.

Keith and Shiro walked into the control room to see everyone was grouped up. "So what's this all about, Allura?" Keith asked curiously.
"Yeah, we're all in here now, can you please tell us?" Lance begged desperately, he must've been waiting for quite a bit.
"Well I thought you all have been working really hard lately and I thought you all could use a break! So, Coran remove the display on the screen!"
As the real outside of the ship was shown, earth stood right there. "You all will be taking your lions to earth and visiting your loved ones." Allura smiled as everyone stared at her in shock. "But before you go take these." She held out a little device. "If I ever need to contact you all, it will be through that little device."
"Can we go now?" Pidge asked. Allura smiled and nodded, with that, all the Paladins rushed out to their lions and then to earth. Pidge went to see her mom, while Lance and Hunk went to see their families. Shiro went to see some places he hasn't seen since he was captured. Keith went looking for (y/n), he had all his hopes on one place.
As the sunset as he climbed to small hill to a cliff on the other side. This cliff is where she'd go when she needed space, and they would often watch the sunset together. Memories rushed his head, all the good times they had shared there. All he wanted was to see her again, and he only had this 1 day to do so. As if on cue, a familiar voice called from behind him.
"K-Keith?" The voice sounded as if was is disbelief with a mix of happiness. The raven-haired male looked behind him and smiled, slowly standing up and moving away from the edge.
"Haha, hey! Long time no see huh?" He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. In a matter of mere seconds the two engulfed each other with an embrace. Tears of joy streaming down their faces.
"You idiot! Where have you've been all this time!" she yelled into his chest.
"Well... I was in space..." (Y/n) lifted her face and stared into his eyes, complete shock covered her face.
"H-how did you get into space! You were kicked out of the Garrison!"
"It's a long story.."
"I'm sure we have plenty of time to catch up." She smiled as they held hands. A light blush was apparent on both of their faces. The two went to sit down by the edge of the cliff, staying as close as they could to each other. Keith told the whole story about the lions , the Galra, about Allura and the Alteans, Voltron, and of the other Paladins.
"Trust me, it's been a crazy year.." Keith lightly laughed, as did (y/n).
"Oh, I can tell!" She smiled widely. Keith stood up from the edge and walked away from the edge. "Hey, where are you going?"
"Well I wanted to show you my lion." He held out his hand. She gladly took it and dusted off her clothing. Keith was smirking the whole time, because he knew that was what made her weak at the knees. As the Korean male pulled her down the path, the big lion soon to be in her sights.
"Hey! Keith! Stop going so fast!" she laughs as Keith pulled her down the hill. As she looked forward to see the huge mechanical lion, her jaw dropped.
"Woah..." The two stopped in front of the lion.
"These lions choose their pilots, so they are also like a bound that bring the pilot and the lion together." Keith explained it the best that he could, yet from the corner from his eyes he sees the small device flashing. "Uhm, I need to step to the side for a bit okay?"
"Sure!" She continued to admire the red lion. As Keith walk a small distance away and answered the call.
"Hey Allura.. What do you need?" Keith stared at the video feed.
"It's about time we head back to space Keith. I can tell by your attitude you must be having a lovely time but we must get going." Allura looked at Keith with a straight face.
"I understand but can't I just have a little bit more time?" Allura face saddened a bit as he said that.
"Keith I understand you'll miss her but we must go protect the universe." Keith closed his eyes and thought for a moment.
"Fine.. Just.. Give me a few ticks or so and I'll head back.." Keith hung up the call and looked down.
"So you have to leave again Keith?" Keith instantly turned to look behind him, only to see her heartbroken expression.
"I do.." Keith looked down, "I have to protect the universe..."
"I totally understand! You should get going!" (Y/n) tried to smile, but Keith knew it was fake. But an idea popped into his head.
"Hey... I know this is quite sudden, but how about you head up to space with me?" Keith looked at her with a nervous smile. Her expression instantly changed.
"Did.... Did I hear you right?" She looked at him questionably, "Can you repeat what you asked?"
"I asked if you wanted to go up with me.. You know... To space." Keith eyes went adrift, scared of even looking at her reaction. He lightly yelped as he was tackled into a hug.
"Of course! But Can I even go with you? Would the others allow it?"
"In sure the others won't mind it." Keith kissed her forehead.
"I need to contact my family first, and my friends... Do you think we can do it on the ship?" Keith laughed as she panicked.
"If that were the case I would of told you where I was a long time ago!"
"Good point!" She scrambled to get out her phone and started texting people. "Wait! What about other stuff like clothes and such! I can't be stuck with only one set of clothes!" She put a lot more emphasis on the word such.
"Okay ... How far is your place from here again?" Keith smiled awkwardly.
"Only a few minutes away! We can quickly drop by and get things!" After a second or two she put her phone away.
"Yeah! Let's do that! I'll contact the team and tell them I'll be a little late! Now go!" (Y/n) quickly ran to her house to get stuff that will be absolutely essential. Especially for human females. (If you know what I mean ;_;)
Keith tapped the middle of the device and it started glowing, soon showing video feed, "Keith where the quiznack are you?" Lance was the first to speak.
"Look I'm going to be a little late okay! I'm bringing something from earth and I just need a few."
"And what exactly are you bringing? Are you bringing food? Ah man, I should of thought of that..." Hunk began to drool. Keith had a concerned expression.
"Maybe maybe not... I don't plan on telling you guys." Shiro sighed at all of them.
"Look Keith as long as it doesn't take any much longer than were fine with it... Just hurry up, okay?"
"Okay! Thanks Shiro! See you guys soon!" Keith smiled and hung up. Not shortly after he sighed in relief.
(While back in the ship)
"What do you think is his problem is?" Lance asked questioned.
"What problem? He looked totally fine to me." Shiro looked at Lance.
"Shiro, did you seriously not notice that he didn't seem as edgy as he usually is to us. Plus, he actually smiled!" Pidge pointed out, yet her over reaction mad it seem like the end of the world.
"Yeah.. I do find it quite weird seeing him like that." Hunk shrugged, "I'm still mad at myself for not bringing earth food..."
"Well I'm sure he finally got to see someone he wanted to see again, I'm sure you were happy like he was." Shiro smiled at the others.
"Okay... I get your point." Lance shrugged. "Man, hanging around with my family was exhausting!"
"I'm sure you all had fun. Are you all heading to bed or are you waiting for Keith?" Shiro smirked as he asked the other.
"Staying," the three said in unison.
"I want to see what stuff he brought." Hunk sat down on a chair and slouched.
"Same," Lance and pidge said in unison, also slouching on the chairs.
(Back on earth)
With a bag of luggage in hand, (y/n) rushed back to the lion. "Keith! I got the stuff!" With that, Keith jumped into the lion and moved it closer to her.
"Get on!" She placed the luggage on first, and then climbed in. She secured herself in the cockpit, holding onto the chair for dear life.
"Let's go!" They few up into the air and back to the ship, luckily without getting sick. To (Y/n) the ride up was really cool. Not to forget that space is beautiful.
(Y/n) stared in awe at the ship. It was nothing she had every seen before. Yet, as they reached the docking bay, Keith was surprised to see everyone was waiting for him there.
"Okay... So. Let me walk out first and then I'll tell you to come out." She nodded in agreement and Keith left the cockpit.
"Hey guys! I thought you all would be asleep by now.." Keith headed to the group.
"Well first of all mullet, we were curious of what you brought with you," Lance sassed Keith. He rolled his eyes.
"Enough you two." Shiro chuckled at the duo. "Now what is it you brought Keith?"
"Well it's hard to explain, so how about you see her for yourself!" Keith smiled nervously as he motioned (y/n) to show herself.
"Wait did you say her?!" Lance eyes widened with shock, and he wasn't alone.
"You brought someone from Earth?" Hunk silently yelled at Keith.
"Another female on the ship! Yes!" Pidge silently cheered.
They all heard a small giggle as a pair of arms wrapped around Keith. "Yep!" She smiled at the others as she showed her face. "It's a pleasure to meet you all!"
"Guys I want to introduce you my girlfriend of 4 years!" He wrapped an arm around her, "(y/n).. After I got to see her again, I wasn't ready to leave her like I did a year ago.."
"GIRLFRIEND?!" Lances mouth was ajar and his eye looks like they were going to pop out of his head at any moment.
"4 years?!" Pidge and hunk silently applauded the two.
"You left her?" Shiro tilted his head questionably.
"It's a long story, and I'm sure you all want your sleep." (Y/n) looked at everyone with a small smile.
"You are right... We should all head to bed, we have a big day tomorrow." They all started to head out of the room. Lance looked absolutely depressed, while Hunk and Pidge were trying their hardest to cheer him up but to no avail.
(Y/n) and Keith went to their room, Keith's room, obviously. (Y/n) laid her luggage down, grabbed a bag and went to the bathroom. Keith, on the other hand, took off his jacket and fell straight onto his bed. He looked up and faced the ceiling, recollecting his thoughts of the past few hours. His eyes started to close, slowly drifting into slumber. Until her felt a pair of arms wrap around him. "You know this all feels so surreal.. Like a dream."
"For me, this is a dream come true." Keith snuggled into her neck. "I could ask for anything more."
"Awe, come on Keith... That's so cheesy!" She squirmed as she quietly yelled.
"I know you like it though."
"I love you Keith, till the end of time."
"That's way more cheesy!" Keith complained. (Y/n) giggled.
"You fight cheese with even more cheese!" Keith rolled his eyes.
"Whatever! I love you too, you dork." The two snuggled in silence as they both drifted off to sleep. Eager to get sleep for the wild mess they will be in the morning.

First Place: "Nostaligia, Lance x Reader" By: Madrcar, Edited By: MariChat4LifeBrah (Word Count: 1600)
Second person:
Lance had long awaited this day, having been eagerly checking the weather forecast multiple times throughout the week. There was going to be a thunderstorm, and rainy days are the best date days; the two of you love the rain. When the time finally arrived, he sent you a text before Friday classes at the Garrison.
hey cariño, date at my place later? ;)
You beamed as you opened the message, the action contrasting with this week's annoyed mood. You typed back a response right away.
sure, I'll be there. love you <3
Classes dragged on after that. It was the end of a sluggish week; the only thing keeping you awake was the thought of the date you'd have later. You buried your head into the sleeves of the oversized sweatshirt you stole from him and let out a silent groan. Final class.
Time stumbled by and you were dismissed, heading over to his house when it started to drizzle. You grinned as you felt a droplet rush down the bridge of your nose, your footsteps tapping and soon splashing on the pavement. Continuing on your way, you welcomed the rain that soaked your skin. The storm washed away the impurities of the terrible week.
When you reached the door, you knocked rhythmically three times and were greeted by Lance.
"Hey, mi amor," he said sleepily, opening his arms for a hug.
"Hello," you replied with a smile. You walked into his embrace and returned it, despite being slightly wet with rainwater. You leaned up to peck his lips before nuzzling into his chest, and he placed his chin on your shoulder when you pulled away. "Tired?" you asked quietly.
You felt him nod his head as he hummed in verification, his hands trailing down your arms to grab your hands.
You lifted your head to look at him. "Let's have a lazy day."
"Sounds great," he chuckled, dragging you into the living room. You followed him there and laughed as he fell back onto the couch, pulling you into his lap.
Laying down on top of him, you folded your arms over his chest and he wrapped his around your waist.
"How're things?" you inquired nonchalantly.
Lance still managed a signature smirk despite his clear lack of sleep. "They're pretty good, with you right here by my side and Keith finally gone," he informed, growing annoyed by the mention of his rival.
"Aw, what was so bad about him? Were you jealous?" you teased, sure to drag out "jealous" and to lean closer.
"Oh, come on! He was so out to get me!" he defended, suddenly not as sleepy. "He was so going to steal you from me!" He shifted to hold you more protectively.
You laughed at his demeanor, reassuring him with a sweet smile. "I wouldn't let that happen."
The rain was becoming heavier outside. The drops drummed on the window just behind the couch, creating an inconsistent melody that penetrated the following silence.
The first roll of the thunder snapped after a while and you flinched in surprise. Lance began caressing your hair, causing you to relax back into his figure in seconds. With a gentle smile, you leaned on one arm to reach out to his face, stroking his cheek with a delicate touch
It was calm moments like these that you cherished most.
The two of you stared at each other lovingly, his oceanic gaze laced with admiration. You traced light patterns on his face while he continued to play with your hair. You could hear his heartbeat through the echo of the rain; it was the only sound accompanying the orchestra of the weather, along with soft breaths from you both.
Lightning flashed, a brief impression in the dreary, gray clouds. You dozed off momentarily to peer at the scene out the window, letting your hand cease its movement. Lance kept his eyes on you. Everything he loved about you seemed to come to mind at that instant.
When you came back to your senses, you noticed him looking at you, turning your head to him with a blush and slightly wide eyes.
Lance simply smiled in return, tilting his head to kiss your hand. "I love you so much," he mumbled, resting his cheek in your palm.
Your flustered face remained pink, but you smiled back nonetheless, lost in his aquatic blue orbs. "I love you, too," you replied.
"The rain is peaceful, don't you think?"
~
That was all in the past.
Your lips perked up into a melancholic resemblance of a smile. The team had just completed a mission and now everyone was doing their own thing to unwind. Sitting in the lounge area, you had a minute of recollection. Your mind wandered, causing you to realize just how much you missed Earth. Just how much you missed the rain. Just how much you missed your old life.
You remembered your dates with Lance. Enjoying the rain or having him help you study Spanish. Taking beach road trips to walk along the shore and enjoy his company. When his little siblings teased the two of you when you hung out around them.
You remembered the simpler moments; the little things that you could smile about. Passing notes with Lance in class, joining Hunk and Pidge for the lunch break, exchanging snarky jokes with Keith (before he was booted and whenever Lance wouldn't freak out about it). You forced a small laugh at that last one.
And... your family.
Tears filled your eyes at the thought of it, the deception of the gleeful past melting away. Your hands clenched into fists in attempt to better conceal your sadness. You stood up abruptly from the seat, nearly collapsing again from the strain of your heavy heart.
Traipsing swiftly to Lance's room, your head down while you took the route you had memorized by heart, a few unsolicited tears streamed down your cheeks. Your mind was teeming with thoughts and you couldn't have responded to anyone you may have passed in the halls. You let out jagged breaths at his door, from both the running and crying.
Raising an unsteady hand, you faltered while you were about to knock. You almost gave into the grief from the memory of that fateful lazy day. You knocked lightly three times.
You heard a muffled "come in" from the room to invite you in. Using the panel on the wall, you opened the door and entered, immediately shutting it behind you and sinking to the floor. Choked sobs racked your body and Lance promptly looked at you.
"Wha- (Y/N)!" he recognized, scrambling to stand and approach you. He pecked the top of your head when he knelt down beside you, rubbing your back in comforting circles.
"Hey, hey, what's wrong, mi amor?" he questioned gently.
You cried harder at the use of the nickname, it pulled you further into the figments of the past. What you'd give to be able to relive that day.
Lance frowned, for he didn't want you to be in such a dismal mood. Wrapping a careful arm around your shoulders, he picked you up and sat down on the bed with you in his lap. Your arms latched around his neck as you once again hid your face in his chest. Only this time his shirt was stained with tears, not rainwater.
Reaching across the bed, he grabbed his discarded jacket to drape over your shoulders. He whispered soothing words to you, keeping you drawn to his form, occasionally leaning down to kiss some teardrops away. Eventually, though, you ran out of tears to cry. Your breathing was still irregular but you mustered willpower to look him in the eyes.
"Do you want to tell me why you're upset now?" Lance prompted, tucking the hair that had fallen in your face behind your ear.
You remained silent for another long minute.
"I miss home," you blurted at last. His eyes widened, then softened as they revealed sympathy. "I-I miss Earth. I just-"
And the tears brimming your eyes spilled over once more.
Lance sighed. "Oh, (N/N). I miss Earth, too. Going on dates with you, the food, the scenery, maybe even school, just a little bit." He was trying to make you laugh and you loved him for it.
His grip on your figure tightened a fraction, you felt him shaking slightly. He was trying so desperately to withdrawal the cries that threatened to escape the hollows of his chest. Peering up at him through blurred vision, you realized that he, too, had let his tears fall.
Lance stared right back into your own eyes. "Our families are back there, too. W-We're all we have r-right now," he said, voice on the verge of breaking. "B-But we're here for each other, right..?"
A strained sob accompanied his ragged breaths while he cried. His head fell onto your shoulder, seeking comfort.
You sniffled. Nothing made you recover from your own sadness faster than the need to heal Lance's. Wrapping your arms around him even more securely, you brought your hand up to trail through his hair. "I-I'm here for you, alright?" you spoke softly in his ear.
The two of you sat there as time marched on. You provided condolences for one another, supported by the embrace you shared. That's what you were; supports, the foundations willing to aid each other.
Tears dried, evident by the streaks that remained on your faces.
"Everything will be okay... it has to be, it will be..." Lance soothed, still hugging you.
Silence ensued, an empty void hanging in the air, foregoing the interruption...
"The rain," you murmured through the stillness. "I miss the rain."
"Me, too."
Only a sense of nostalgia.

Second Place: "Captured, Lance x Reader" By: Mystical_Gaming, Edited By: MariChat4LifeBrah (Word Count: 500+)
Your P.O.V.
He's been gone for a month and we still aren't trying to save him, and by we, I mean the rest of team Voltron. They seem like they don't even care, Keith has even been acting happier. I've asked Shiro if we could try to save Lance, but he refuses every time.
So I'm going to save him myself. I waited in my room until everyone was asleep. After I made sure everyone was asleep, I ran to the escape pods as quietly as I could. I jumped into the pod and left the castle for my search of Lance. Luckily, while everyone was training I go some time to myself so I located Lance using Pidge's equipment. I soon reached the ship Lance was being held in and cloaked the pod. I left the pod and quickly made my way over to the open hangar.
"Okay (Y/n), you have to be careful. This could be a trap and they could be expecting you or they're just plain dumb," you told yourself. You looked down and your hologram screen appeared showing that Lance was in a cell nearby. You ended up taking 2 rights, 1 left, straight, and 3 more lefts before reaching Lance.
" Lance? Hey bud, I'm here to get you out of here, " you spoke in a whisper. It seemed that you startled him as he had jumped.
"(Y/n)? What are you doing here? Where's the rest of the team?" Lance asked you.
"I'll answer your questions later, but for now more saving and less talking," you stated, pulling up a handle to open Lance's cell. You grabbed Lance and started running with him back to your pod when some Galra soldiers appeared out of nowhere. You had fought all of them. One of the soldiers had Lance's bayard. You grabbed the bayard and handed it back to Lance. "You'll probably need this," you stated before making it all the way back to your pod. You climbed into the pod and took off with Lance back to the castle.
Nobody's P.O.V.
Everyone had woken up and headed to the dining table.
"Does anyone else feel like we're missing someone or something?" Shiro asked, noticing somebody wasn't there.
" No, are you feeling alright Shiro?" Hunk asked the Japanese man.
"Never mind, I just be sick of something," Shiro replied.
Your P.O.V.
"Wait, so your telling me you came to get me during the middle of the night while everyone was sleeping, even though Shiro told you not to?" Lance questioned. He was confused because you almost always followed Shiro's directions.
" Yep, every single detail is true, " you stated. "Hey Lance, I'm gonna need you to hold onto something, we're gonna have a rough landing." Both you and Lance held onto something while the pod was landing. You both landed near the castle when the alarms went off.
"Let's just stay here and wait for the rest of the team, " Lance decided, you agreed with him as his idea was pretty smart. You ended up getting scolded for not following Shiro's rules, but you didn't care as long as you had Lance with you.
