he's stressing me out

"Are you going to sleep or are you going to keep on sighing into my ear?" I rolled over in Levi's embrace.

"I'll go sleep on the couch," Levi sighed loudly, moving to leave.

NOT MY INTENTION

"No I mean-" I reached out for his wrist, "do you want to talk about it?"

you being stressed is beginning to stress me out

"You need to sleep."

"I'm not going to be able to sleep if you leave, and I can't sleep with you grumbling into my ear."

so let's talk

"We should've turned around and gone home when we got the chance."

i mean we can still do that-

"What's stopping us?"

i mean obviously addressing this head on is the smart thing to do-

"If we turn around now it'll only look suspicious, besides," he took a long pause, his eyes focused on something outside the window. "I'm not going to let this opportunity slip by us."

"You know," I brushed the hair out of Levi's face, dim moonlight illuminating his features. "You don't have to worry about the first princess killing me, I'm sure she would much rather humiliate me first."

maybe in the beginning but not now

"I can't believe you're joking about this," he rolled his eyes at me.

"As if you're any better," I frowned. "Anyway you don't have to worry about me, I'm not going to die until I get to kiss you in front of her for real."

"She might kill you for that afterward," Levi chuckled, his fingers tracing my jawline.

"Do you think she'll wait a little bit longer if I ask nicely?"

"You can certainly try."

there's a conversation i want to have with levi that i'm not sure i can bring up

but-

i'm almost certain it's what he's worried about

"Hey Levi?"

"What?"

"Ignore me if you don't want to talk about this, ok?"

"I'm not going to ignore you."

i wouldn't promise that

"Your parents," I paused, unsure of how to continue. "The reason why you've been so stressed- does it have anything to do with them?"

actually did i ever tell him that i learned what happened?

"Sorry if I wasn't supposed to know about it- the day everyone thought I had gone missing- Kuchel told me and-"

"Slow down idiot."

"-honestly it's weird that we haven't had this conversation earlier, you have that painting in your room of the two of them when you were younger."

"I said slow down."

"Sorry-"

"Don't apologize," he flicked my forehead. "I'm not worried about that-"

are you sure?

"You don't have to lie."

your life was irreversibly changed after they passed-

"I'm a little worried about it," Levi corrected, "but you don't have to worry about me."

"Levi, I want to worry about you."

i want to be someone who can worry about you in the way that you worry about me

"It's an irrational fear."

as if anything we do isn't irrational

"Your parents died on a trip like this one, it isn't irrational at all."

given your parents didn't have a princess attempting to sabotage their relationship

but i can understand why you're worried about having to stop in some unmarked town

and i want to do whatever i can to help

"Further up the road there's a tight spot, perfect for ambush, that's why we stopped," Levi explained. "Tomorrow someone will be sent ahead to make sure that no one's waiting for us there, until then I have to deal with it."

"Do you want to do something to take your mind off of it?"

"What are you thinking?" Levi shifted, sitting up in bed.

"Wanna go on a walk?"

"That's a stupid idea."

"As if you have anything better," I scoffed. "We could also go downstairs and get something to eat."

im honestly kinda hungry

"In the tavern?"

where else?

"We'll be fine! There aren't any guests in this inn aside from your guards and a few of the maids, the only other people down there will be people who live in this town."

and i highly doubt any of them are going to win against a group of trained knights on the off chance that they're actually planning something

if someone wanted us dead it would be easier to burn the building down

fairly certain some livestock farmer isn't going to risk his life to murder us while we eat something

"Room service?"

"GENIUS!"

"I'll have someone grab something for us," Levi walked to the door, leaning outside to speak with someone for a moment.

he looks a little more relaxed

"Once we're done eating we should pull an all-nighter and talk about our deepest darkest secrets," I hummed, the food had arrived and the two of us were sitting cross legged on the floor eating.

LIKE A SLEEPOVER

"Tomorrow is a big day."

"Ugh ok be boring why don't you."

"And we sleep together every night- it's not like this is anything special."

UH WHAT ???

"You're never any fun."

"Liar."

"I'm not lying it's the truth," I rolled my eyes at him.

"Thank you for wanting to do something," Levi murmured, gaze trained on the floor.

"You don't need to thank me, for some reason I'm in love with you despite your refusal to treat this sleepover seriously."

so it's only natural that i want to look out for you like this

"Still-"

"Hold on Levi you've got something on your face-" I pointed to his cheek.

there's nothing there i'm just teasing

and i don't want to hear him insist on thanking me

so im going to make fun of him <3

"Where?"

"Right here," I leaned forward, cutting him off with a kiss.

"Idiot," his hands found their way into my hair.

"Your  idiot."
