I settled into bed, the exhaustion from the past week settling in. Eren had thankfully stayed mostly out of my way since he had stormed out of the study at the beginning of the week.

not that it was particularly hard for either of us to avoid each other

Occasionally I heard reports of rude behavior, but nothing like the investigation of the house that he had tried to conduct that afternoon.

I fell into a deep sleep, restless tossing and turning of the nights before long forgotten, before I know it I'd fallen into peaceful dreams.

I relived recent memories, first the time up on the clocktower, then the quiet moments before the tea party where I kissed him and my beating heart after.

i want to go back-

the next time we go to the capitol

we can make a day of it again

Before I can comfortably sit in the memory, I'm taken even further back, to quiet conversations in the office, light hearted bickering over breakfast, and our picnic getaway, the warmth of his hand as the two of us walked along wooded paths.

it was a little bit awkward in hindsight

levi was clearly a little uncomfortable

im glad that we're past that now

Then finally the moments before even that, rock paper scissors in long carriage rides, the drafting of the contract, and the pounding of my heart while I proposed a contractual marriage.

a bit too far back

Blearily, I opened my eyes, squinting at the harsh sunlight streaming through curtains. Still half asleep I rolled over in bed, my arms comfortably wrapping around- something.

"You're u- oh," a low confused, slightly disappointed ?? voice muttered over me.

"Farlan? What are you doing?" I forced my eyes open, jerking my arms away from my mystery man.

"I see my wife has forgotten my face."

"Farlan, I'm married to Levi," I sat up rubbing the sleep out of my eyes to look over at him.

"I know."

"You-" my words caught in my throat as my eyes met the silver blue of Levi Ackerman's.

"You're a little too relaxed about someone else being in your bed," he sighed, running a hand through his hair, exhaustion apparent in his features.

"You got back and you didn't wake me up you bastard," I said through a large uncontrollable smile.

"You looked comfortable, I didn't want to ruin it," his smile matched mine, a hand reaching out to pull me back to bed.

since when have you cared about things like that?

"I wouldn't have cared," I grumbled, moving closer to him under the blankets.

you don't know how long i've been waiting

"Maybe I should've," Levi rolled his eyes, "you looked a bit too happy for someone who's supposed to be desperately missing her husband."

"I was thinking about Hanji," I murmured, Levi's arms wrapped around me.

"That checks out," he laughed lightly.

"I had a nice dream, it was about-" I paused.

not even sure if i should give him the satisfaction at this point ........

"-it was about you- well us specifically but mostly you."

"I knew I shouldn't have woken you up," he said.

"Who said I liked it," I grumbled sarcastically, reaching up to touch his face.

"You two seconds ago."

"I was lying."

A moment of peaceful silence fell over us as I traced my fingers across his jaw, finally draping my arm over his neck.

"Checking if I'm alive?"

"Something like that."

"Well, I'm alive," he yawned loudly, "and tired as shit."

isn't that just typical

"Go to sleep then," I poked his nose, causing his face to scrunch up awkwardly.

"Forgive me for wanting to be awake when we met again," Levi closed his eyes despite his protests.

"Everyone always says that you have a hard time falling asleep but during half of our cute moments you're asleep," I sighed, attempting to get comfortable again.

"Mhmm," Levi murmured a soft response.

i closed my eyes once more

"Stop being stupid and go to sleep."

"You first."

"I hate you."

"I love you more."

"Impossible."

"Hey," I frowned, opening my eyes again.

"Hey," I watched as Levi replied, eyes still half shut.

"I really missed you."

"I'm tired Y/N."

SO ??

"I'm filing for divorce."

"I'm suing you for keeping me up," his eyes were now fully open once more.

"You look so tired."

"As I've said," he chuckled slightly, eyes threatening to shut once more.

"I really missed you," I repeated once more. "Next time take me with you."

"I'm not sure I want to go ever again- seeing that kid princes seem to pop up when I'm gone," he frowned.

"Please don't remind me."

"Let's go back to bed- you look just as tired as me."

I HOPE NOT- IM SORRY LEVI BUT YOU LOOK-

"Don't say that-"

"Go to sleep."

"Fine," I grumbled, trying for the nth time to get comfortable again.

"I missed you too," Levi pulled me closer murmuring into my lips.

"Welcome back," I kissed him, melting into it.
